    Surprisingly mediocre

by spaceytracey on 1/24/12Elliott Hall of Music - West Lafayette

My 17 year old daughter is really into the Beatles. The reviews of this performance were great and it's at Purdue (her favorite college). So, off we went. I was surprised at the age of the audience -- I'd guess it to be in the mid to late 60's. I think I was expecting something more in line with just someone singing cover songs of the Beatles, but was surprised to find that these were talented "actors" who were trying to Be the Beatles. That sent me into a laughing frenzy which lasted through an entire song and I ended up laughing so hard that I cried. My daughter and everyone else seemed to enjoy this show. Since I wasn't prepared for the immitation to the degree it was done, I was not impressed.

    So so

by DDDDDDD12 on 1/24/12Elliott Hall of Music - West Lafayette

This was basically a cover band playing Beatles music. We thought it would be more of an interpretation of their career, journey to fame, etc. Only history of the Beatles was on the big screens between sets.

    A Journey Back in Time

by Lanimuffin on 3/3/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

Our 14 year old daughter recently "discovered" the Beatles. Her Dad and I are a little too young to remember the Beatle mania but of course, we know the words to every song played on the radio. It was just a great family experience and we all learned things about the Beatles that we either never knew or had forgotten.

Outstanding performance! Their harmonies were dead on and it was a smooth production with excellent elements combined for a great experience.

    Spectacular show!

by Kinolex on 2/27/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

This show was amazing. The Rain Beatles tribute band looked like The Beatles, sounded like The Beatles, and acted like The Beatles. It truly could have been the original fab four up on that stage. I also loved the videos included between songs; it was like a little trip through time, with events from the late 50s to the assasination of JFK to the Vietnam war and the hippies in the late 60s - events that The Beatles all experienced in their time as their music style changed and grew. I would see this again and again. Words cannot truly described how wonderful the show was; I was filled with an overwhelming feeling in the beginning and remembered why I became a Beatles fan in the first place. I left the theater feeling so happy, proud that I had remained a Beatles fan for so many years. :)

    Rain was Amazing!!!!!!

by eagles5 on 2/27/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

I really didn't know what to expect but I have to say it was one of the best productions ever. The band was amazing! The travel through time from the beginning of their career (Ed Sullivan show) to Abbey Road was brilliantly done. The band really got the audience involved and made it such a blast. We were a group of 5 and all loved it. It was great to see such a wide range of ages, old and young, enjoying a show together and everyone singing along together. I highly recommend this show!

    Unbelievable Show

by RonC1024 on 2/27/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

This was one of the most outstanding concerts I have ever seen. Their sound was amazing, and the way they moved from one era to the next was wonderfully done. I would recommend this show to anyone at any age,

    OMG! Remember That?

by bwitch803 on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

Going to see RAIN was so much fun! Brought back memories and good times. My daughters and sister went with me and we all agreed it was a good show. The interaction with the audience was also nice. The commericals shown on the big screens were so funny! and seeing the girls screaming at Shea Stadium was a riot! Oh, back in the days! What an awesome job the musicians did in portraying the Beatles. To sound and look like them was amazing. As my one daughter said later that evening "this is the closest I will ever get to seeing the Beatles and knowing what they brought to music." Again, great night! Thank you RAIN :)

Took my thirteen year old and we became teens together. These actors were beyond expectation. Took me back to my youth and through the ages. There wasn't anything about the show or venue that wasn't enjoyable. If they come back we will be there!

    Rain was off the hook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by cyndyhub on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

It was more than we expected. Although I was a young child when The Beatles first hit the U.S.A., this concert still brought back such memories. I live walking distance from what was Shea Stadium, so the old footage was amazing. I had so much trouble staying still in my seat. Not only have I recommended it to friends, I myself, can't wait to go again.

"Rain" Would Make the Beatles Proud!

by Pat4Him on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

Bought these tickets for my husband as a Christmas gift, as he always lamented not seeing the original Beatles in concert, as I did at Shea in '65. "Rain" was outstanding, both vocally & musically. The costumes were authentic down to the last detail; the original film clips from the Beatles' arrival in the US & at Shea Stadium, as well as the ones of all the hysterical fans, were nostalgia at its best. It all magically transported me back to that amazing time in my life & and in our country's history when we so needed something fun & positive after JFK's assassination & as Viet Nam was unfolding. My husband was thrilled with this gift, and I was most pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it, too, as I don't typically like impersonators.

    Rain

by hansdad on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

Went to see Rain but was surprised that it wasn't the original members. it must have been their back-ups. Wish they had told us that before we bought the tickets. But in their defense it was a rather good show.

    Lots of Fun!!!

by Anonymous on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

The concert was really good. I grew up in that era and it brought back lots of memories of my childhood and my fascination with the Beatles. I thought the group really got into their roles and got the audience into it as well. I loved the concert, the time flew because every song was better than the last. This was truly a tribute to the greatest band in the world.

    RAIN

by terraphotography on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

The buys in the band were not the same guys that are pictured in all the advertisements (like the picture above) and on TV. I don't know who the guys were but they didn't even resemble the Beatles in looks (like the advertisements and pictures) and their voices were not even close. I saw RAIN twice in the last few years and the appearance and vocals were dead on. The music this time around was great but the vocals were average. A lot of missed notes and some liberty with the lyrics. So I was hugely disappointed with this "version" of the band. I don't know if these guys were stand-ins because RAIN is performing on Broadway but I was a bit unhappy. I liked the songs they chose so if they come to the area again I will still go but it would have been nice to have known that a different "version" of the band was going to be playing and not the group of guys that I've seen twice before. The other group of guys had all the mannerisms of the four lads down to the last detail and their voices were so close you could close your eyes and swear it was the Beatles themselves. This group of guys that played at the Palace had a lot to be desired as far as likeness and vocals. There were a couple of songs where they took some liberty with the lyrics and I was a bit unhappy about that as well. The guy who played keyboards in the background was fantastic.

    sgt pepper

by HAPPYFACED on 2/26/11Palace Theatre Albany - Albany

I LOVED HOW THEY TRIED TO MAKE IT ALL SEEM LIKE WE WERE THERE IN THE 60'S. HOWEVER I WISH THEY PERFORMED LONGER AS THIS WAS THE SHORTEST CONCERT I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. I WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THEY DIDNT COVER ALOT OF MAJOR SONGS BUT AT THE SAME TIME THE BEATLES HAVE WAYYYY TO MUCH TO COVER IN ONE NIGHT. THE VENUE WAS NICE THE SEATS WERE GREAT.
