I have been to the Birchmere several times to see Rahsaan Patterson. He never disappoints. His shows never feel rehearsed and I really enjoy Rahsaan's impromptu style of singing. I also like how he engages the audience for song requests.
excellent show as always rahsaan. i really enjoyed my self...
I was sooo excited to finally see Rahsann Patterson in concert while I was in New York. He was good as I expected, but why did he not sing his hits? I wanted to hear, "My Sweetheart" I had been huming it for days before the concert. There were other hits I was excited to hear, but he did not sing. So I was disappointed, but enjoyed the show.
I am a true fan of Rahsaan's music and I was not disappointed. The show was great in its entirety. Ms. Avery - the opening act - - was very entertaining as well. This man's voice is medicine to the soul. This was money well spent and a show that was worth travelling for.
One of the best shows I have ever attended. I would attend a Rahsaan Patterson show whenever the opportunity presented itself.
ENTERTAINING, DELIVERYING THE BEST OF HIM SELF AND SONG ALOT OF FAVORITE HITS SONG.
I travelled to New York over the past weekend to see Rahsaan Patterson in concert at the BB King Blues Club after seeing him a few months earlier for the first time at Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis, Maryland. Although I had heard a few songs on the radio, it had not prepared me for what his delivery would be in concert. He has a tremendous vocal range that gives a new meaning to his music. He is not the type of entertainer that dances around the stage. He gives you all voice and nothing less. With every song, he puts so much emotion and thought so that you can truly feel the intended meaning. I was thoroughly impressed with his performance in Annapolis and he did not let me down in New York. The event was sold out and it was standing room only for those who, despite not having reserved tickets, still wanted to experience him. Finally, he did a very moving rendition of Sade's "Stronger Than Pride" and what I liked the most about his rendition, he didn't try to emulate her, he made it his own.
The concert was amazing as usual and Rahsaan definitely made my trip to NYC even better. He is continuously underrated as an artist and should be played more in mainstream media. However, talent doesn't always equal commercial success. I thoroughly enjoyed the concert and will be seeing him again in Virginia at the Birchmere.
Rahsaan did his thing. The show was wonderful. His vocal range is unbelievable. The show was well worth the money. And Avery Sunshine opening for him was a special treat. Great combination of amazing, talented, and gifted artists.
He did a great job...not that I ever doubted it, otherwise I wouldn't have bought a ticket! :o) Some folks might not like 10 minute long songs, but when you can sing like that, it's a treat. He also has a good sense of humor. I would go again.
The first time I ever heard RAH 's music and vocal skills was on the radio. I was listening to WHUR and heard the song titled above being played. I got the CD with that song on it later that same day. I had never heard it live before, until last Fri. I was thrilled. The last time I saw him perform live was many, many years ago when he opened for Rachelle Ferrell at the Warner. So, to see him all these years later singing my favorite RAH song was nothing short of fabulous. I can see what others were talking about that night but I could'nt care less. I love to hear him sing and can't wait to see him again. BTW, coming out with a live album is an excellent idea!
Rahsaan gave a great performance and his opening act Avery Sunshine was a special treat.
Opening act Avery Sunshine was very good. I think at the start of the show that the sound was not quite right., once they turned up Rahsaan mic and took some reverb out the show was GREAT. Only other point is ,I wanted to hear more new material. Rahsaan has a wonderful vocalese and brings a fresh twist to his music every time. I've never been disappointed with a performance by him. If you've never seen this man I suggest you to do the next chance you get!
I will still support him and buy bluephoria, but the beginning of most of the songs he sang, I couldn't hear what he was saying, and he walked away from the mic toooo toooooo toooooo many times, then he was constantly wiping his nose area... ...well I am not going there.. To me, it appeared that he was stretching songs out just to kill time, how many songs was that 6 maybe 7?...If more, then that's exactly how it fetl to me. I am singer myself so I understand all the ad libbing, scats and runs, and you did that brilliantly, no doubt. However, Rahsaan if you are reading this post, I still believe you are an awesome singer, but concert wise I will have to think twice before doing this again. By the way, I have seen you live before, but this one puts some serious doubt in my mind about comin to your live concerts. Nonetheless, I chalk it all up to, that's just his eccentric style and I can't hold that against him.
Rahsaan did an awesome just and so did Avery Sunshine.
This man...this man is AMAZING! His flow/delivery was effortless. Every note he hit was perfect. Beautiful. I will definitely see him again.
Rahsaan's Voice is amazing as ALWAYS! Birchemere's Food, NEVER disappoints, Always meeting wonderful Like Minded people!
I truly enjoyed Rahsaan and Avery Sunshine. Their vocals are amazing and they are so much fun!
When Rahsaan Patterson came on the stage, I got the feeling that he was a little intoxicated or under the influence of something. He is an amazing singer with his vocal range, but something just didn't seem right about him.
