About
Ragtime is a Tony-winning historical musical with music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and a book by Terrence McNally. Based on E.L. Doctorow’s 1975 novel, Ragtime follows the story of three groups of people in early 20th century New York: The upper-crust white residents of New Rochelle, the musical Black community of Harlem and Jewish immigrants arriving from Eastern Europe in search of a better life. The original Broadway production earned four Tony Awards including Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score, as well as Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for star Audra McDonald. A timely new revival of Ragtime is now playing at Lincoln Center Theater and stars Joshua Henry, Caissie Levy, Brandan Uranowitz, Nichelle Lewis, Colin Donnell, Ben Levi Ross and Shaina Taub.
