Queens of the Stone Age Background
Queens of the Stone Age got its start in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. Originally, the band called itself Gamma Ray. However, a German metal group already had this name, so Queens of the Stone Age was born. This name came from the nickname of Josh Homme's previous band, Kyuss. The band's musical style is influenced by many rock and metal genres, with macho and German rock styles commonly attributed to it. Later albums incorporate electronic and dance music influences. Queens of the Stone Age had their first concert in Seattle, Washington at the OK Hotel on November 20, 1997. Once they released their self-titled album Queens of the Stone Age, they started touring in 1998. They had their big break when they released their second album, Rated R, in 2000 and got the opportunity to open for Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and other high-profile bands. An invite for Ozzfest 2000 came shortly after.

Queens of the Stone Age are always rockin, and I LOVE that they played their old stuff. Best show ever! I was stranded in Nashville afterward and had to miss a meeting at work the next day- but completely worth it! I've seen QOTSA 4 times now, and would see them another 100 times if I could!! Plus, the Ryman is a great venue.
Queens of the Stone Age were great! they played their entire first album as well as many of their other hits.
Over the past year or so I've become a huge QOTSA fan, but had never seen them live. I had high expectations going into the show, and they didn't let me down at all. The lighting was really cool, the sound was great and the set list was perfect. They're playing the self-titled album in it's entirety on this tour, and in my opinion it's one of their best, although all of them are good.
The show kicked ass! It seemed like they played forever and seeing them in a small venue like the Ryman made it even better. The encore was 5 or 6 songs. They were actually taking requets people in the crowd.
I must say, I didnt think The Ryman could be rocked so hard. Queens Of The Stone Age really gave us an amazing show and kept their word 100% playing the entire debut album and some surprise favorites. These guys did not disappoint! And...I would like to add that Joey Castilo is a beast on the drums! Wow!
Great concert. Great venue. Only regret is that QOTSA didn't play more songs from their other albums -- but I understand why they didn't. Overall, highly recommended.
Saw QOTSA and Eagles of Death Metal, both played new and old and were both amazing. Sound was perfect, long sets.
OMG They were the best!!!!! I saw them many many times before and can't get enough!! They all are so very talented! I LOVE THEM ESPECIALLY JESSE!
I believe the title says it all. I was already in for a great a show having never seen these guys live, but wow this totally blew past my expectations. Eagles of Death Metal were pure sexiness and just fun rock and roll. Then they brought out surprise guests Alex and Miles of The Last Shadow Puppets to do a two man set and I (a fan of theirs and having already seen them live with a full orchestra) was stunned and amazed by how great it was to see them in this more intimate set. It was and then queens was just breathe taking. Best show ever. 3 amazing bands.
SUCH a good show!! the venue rocked, the band ROCKED, altogether awesome experience!
The show was absolutely amazing!! Queens definitely put on one of the best live perfomances!!
This show was totally unforgettable. All the bands were great and even though I had never seen QOTSA in concert before, I know they played their asses off for BOC. I hope they play again. I would be more than thrilled to see EODM and QOTSA on the same stage again.
This was by far one of the best shows I've ever been to. I can't believe Lanegan came out for the encore. Effing Brilliant!!!!!!!!! AND Arctic Monkeys in between?? Awesome.
QOTSA was epic as usual as was EODM and for a great cause.
Tied for the best damm show I've seen. The setlist was perfect. There is video on u tube.
But they did 4 encores. So I guess the lateness made up for it. There were also two performers that went on after EODM and before QOTSA that really killed the vibe. Overall, it was an ok show. I've seen better. QOTSA was good, though.
sound was amazing, set list was perfect. I am going to see every band I love at the Club Nokia theatre.
Started LATE. About 8 fifty. Wasn't prepared for this one. Left my Olympus voice recorder at home. Was feeling self conscious about the TCV jacket I had on. Lost my purple bic lighter along the jouney to the concert. But when EODM finally made it on stage, Boots Electric made all my concerns go away! Jesse made my nite and I'm not afraid to admit it. Alain, the two twins, and QOTSA helped to round off this four course meal :O) Josh sure has a sense about talent... Can't wait for the next one. And I'll have to make sure to donate a few dollars to the boys at the donation desk. A pet rock may someday save the planet!
This show was amazing. After EODM played their set they made us wait over an hour with acoustic acts but it was worth it. This was my first time seeing QOTSA live and I never want to miss another show again. The stage was visible from just about anywhere on the bottom level. A couple songs from their first CD would have been nice but the show was so good it made up for it.
