Queens of the Stone Age Background
Queens of the Stone Age got its start in 1996 in Palm Desert, California. Originally, the band called itself Gamma Ray. However, a German metal group already had this name, so Queens of the Stone Age was born. This name came from the nickname of Josh Homme's previous band, Kyuss. The band's musical style is influenced by many rock and metal genres, with macho and German rock styles commonly attributed to it. Later albums incorporate electronic and dance music influences. Queens of the Stone Age had their first concert in Seattle, Washington at the OK Hotel on November 20, 1997. Once they released their self-titled album Queens of the Stone Age, they started touring in 1998. They had their big break when they released their second album, Rated R, in 2000 and got the opportunity to open for Foo Fighters, The Smashing Pumpkins and other high-profile bands. An invite for Ozzfest 2000 came shortly after.
SENCOND BEST SHOW I SEEN THIS YEAR! QOTSTA ROCK IT.
I WAITED AT THE FRONT OF THE STAGE FOR 2HRS JUST TO HAVE PEOPLE PUSH ME AND THROW DRINKS FROM THE BELCONY ON TO THE CROWD ON THE FLOOR. THE CONCERT WAS GREAT BUT THERE WAS NO CROWD CONTROL. PEOPLE WERE SMOKING MARIJUANA AND NO ONE TOLD THEM ANYTHING. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. COULDN'T ENJOY THE SHOW AT ALL.
Great show beginning to end.. Best I've seen in a long time
Amazing show. I go to a lot of concerts every year and this was by far one of the best I've ever attended. Eagles of Death Metal are definitely fun and must be seen live in order to fully appreciate them. Queens of the Stone Age were AMAZING as usual. I think they played for close to two hours. P.S. Get well Brian "Big Hands" O'Connor so we can keep seeing you play with EODM! Just astonishing to think you put off chemo in order to play this show. If that isn't dedication/love for music and the fans, then I don't know what is.
Two great bands playing their hearts out to help a buddy. You could feel the love in the house and all through the music! Insane night.
Queens came through last night. They sounded hard and heavy. They really put on a great show, Josh kept on thanking the audience and that he was glad to be back with the band. He said it had been too long.
The show was incredible!!! Eagles Of Death Metal melted my face off. Then Queens Of The Stone Age shattered my skull!! The show was great!!
I've been friends with both bands for years. Last night was on top of the awesome list!!They burned the house down. Queens started with " Misfit Love " because as Josh put it " We had to let people know that we still have it" celebrity sightings were plentiful....John McEnroe, Brad Wilk, The Broken Lizard guys, .....What a night. Amazing show doesn't begin to describe it. Love!!!
The show was incredible! It's been a few years since I've been to Club Nokia. Sound was stellar. QOTSA absolutely annhilated the place! From the vicious opening with "Misfit Love" all the way through the encore, an astounding show. Queens bring it every time. I wish I had as much swagger as Josh Homme.
One of the best concerts by far I have ever been to.
ROCK!! ROCK!! ROCK!! ROCK!! ROCK!! ROCK!! ROCK!! Oh my God they ROCK!!
The bands were great. There were some surprise acts. Everyone just seemed to have fun on stage. They love the fans. I had an amazing time.
