One of the ten-best shows I've ever seen
by Anonymous on 6/22/14United Center - ChicagoI've been a Queen fan forever but have never considered myself particularly fanatic or over-knowledgable about them. I have always liked Adam Lambert and, having seen Lambert perform live on his "For Your Entertainment" tour some years back, knew he had the stage presence and vocal range to do well with the Queen material. But the show was phenomenal. Easily in my ten best. I was shocked at how blown away I was. There were a few technical questions because soundcheck ran late, the pre-curtain opening sequence repeated three times and then Lambert's mic crapped out during the very first song. (I found out later that this was the opening show of the tour.) Second song was "Stone Cold Crazy," which I was surprised to hear and then it was off to the races. The crowd was kind of lame and only seemed to know maybe half the songs but our seats were pretty good, the set and effects were spectacular, Lambert's range was terrific and they did an extremely professional and KISS-precise show that was two hours on the nose. Lambert even put on the crown for the encores, which I thought was kind of gutsy. I have seen hundreds of shows in my time and have seen many good to very good to great shows that are very professional and satisfying (both Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles last year come to mind) but I was not expecting to have such a reaction to this. If you can see this, don't miss it.
