About

Queen + Adam Lambert on Tour

In 2018, the legend of Queen — the larger-than-life band that's been making grandiose, orchestrally inspired rock songs since 1970 — came to the big screen with Bohemian Rhapsody, a film about the life of original lead singer Freddie Mercury.

Led by Mercury and charged by the pyrotechnic guitars of Brian May, the commanding drums of Roger Taylor, and the rumbling yet melodic basslines of John Deacon, Queen blazed a bright trail through the rock world in the 1970s and '80s. They showcased their stunning vocal harmonies on tracks like the mini-epic "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the peppy "Don't Stop Me Now." They showed off their wide range on sonically disparate tracks like the disco-tinged "Another One Bites the Dust," the sweetly longing "Somebody to Love," and the arena staple "We Will Rock You."

Mercury passed away in 1991, but his legacy loomed large, and Queen's presence on classic rock radio and in pop culture resulted in the band commanding the imaginations of younger listeners. One of those fans was Adam Lambert, a San Diego singer who sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" when he tried out for the eighth season of American Idol.

Powered by his inventive reworkings of songs, towering voice, and overwhelming charisma, Lambert finished second in the show's 2009 balloting. May and Taylor — who appeared on that season's finale and performed with Lambert and eventual winner Kris Allen — were keenly aware of Lambert's range and innovation.

Lambert, May, and Taylor first performed as a unit at the MTV Europe Awards in November 2011, and a year later they played their first concert as Queen + Adam Lambert. Since then, they've toured the world, honoring Mercury's memory while bringing Queen's electrifying catalog to life on a nightly basis. In 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert will embark on the Rhapsody Tour, a 23-date North American tour that, in the words of May, will "rip it apart and get even more ambitious" than their previous jaunts.

    Best Concert Ever!

by Markez on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

This was my number one "bucket list concert", one I never thought I would see. I drove close to 1,000 miles round trip, spent a small fortune, and stood for an hour in the rain after the show trying to hail a cab. Queen delivered, worth every penny, worth the time and travel. I'd go again.

Amazing show despite some opening night hiccups

by dynodave on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

Well it was the first night of the tour, so of course the show started 40 minutes late, there were mic troubles on the first song, some sound issues throughout, and some dodgy moments where they did not synch properly to Freddy on the video screens. All of that said, this was an amazing show. Two plus hours and a real nice mix of music. I think they actually touched EVERY one of their albums except the debut. Brian May's guitar was huge in the mix and sounded great. Adam Lambert sang the heck out of these songs and evoked the spirit of Freddy without merely imitating Freddy. I went in expecting reheated leftovers of the shows they did across Europe with Adam a year or two ago, but this was a completely redesigned stage and setlist which was appreciated. All around, if you are a lifelong Queen fan like me I think you find this to be a lot of fun, watching them put on a true spectacle in an arena again. Short tour, don't miss it!

    Queen + Adam Lambert

    by ejfan1972 on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

I saw Queen at the Chicago Stadium in 1978....so I was so excited to see Queen again! To hear those amazing, classic songs live again was something that I will never forget!! Adam Lambert was the perfect fit to sing Freddy's parts! The songs gave me the chills....the guitar solo by Brian May and drum solo by Roger Taylor was something that we do not hear these days! Everyone in the arena was elated by the musicianship of these musicians! All I can say is Fantastic!! And if they come around again, I will for sure be there!

    Too many guitar solos!

by recycledgranite on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

Adam did an amazing job at singing! In between all of his clothing changes there was nothing but guitar and drum solos, which I hate. If you like that kind of stuff then you'd probably like this concert. Overall...the evening cost me $400 and I didn't think it was worth it.

    Adam Lambert is phenomonal!!!!!

by gohugamoose on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

I have always been a fan of Queen. When I first saw Adam Lambert on American Idol I was instantly in love. He has a voice that is second to none. No one has the range, power and charisma that he does. Queen and Adam Lambert are a perfect fit!!!! They have done a great job of honoring Freddie Mercury and his amazing talent. Adam puts his own style all while paying tribute to Queen and Freddie Mercury. I would see this concert over and over again!!!!!!! My husband and I both agree that it was the best concert we have ever seen!!! I did not want it to end. My thanks to Queen for having Adam Lambert as the frontman. They could not have gotten anyone better!!! My thanks to Adam for putting on an amazing show that I would love to see over and over again. Your voice I could listen to all day long. Thanks to all who put this on, it was amazing!!!!!!!!!

by crownpointbob on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

So much fun, the crowd looked like it was mostly between the ages of 40 to 70. Sound was great . I liked the fact that Adam brought a fresh younger feel to the concert.

Queen + Adam Lambert = Spectacular!

by AllisSchur on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

This was a concert which was truly one-of-a-kind. Adam Lambert's soaring vocals together with Brian May's extraordinary guitar skills and Roger Taylor's masterful drumming created two plus hours of unequaled entertainment. My only regret is that there isn't a second concert scheduled for Chicago!

Wonderful showcase of the many eras of Queen music. Adam Lambert was phenomenal !!! He didn't imitate Freddie, but managed a unique balance of paying tribute and honoring the songs.

Queen with Adam Lambert was awesome.

by bummers on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

I've been watching for this show ever since I heard that Adam Lambert would be touring with Queen. I am a huge fan of Queen and also of Adam Lambert, so it was great they would be together. I think Adam did a great job. I'm sure it can be intimidating to fill in for Freddy Mercury, but he was awesome. There seemed to be a little problems with the sound system at some points, but it was handled well.

    A perfect Queen Team

by Dishmonsta on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

Our seats ended up being quite obstructed, so the United Center staff relocated us to the main floor in row 26. We were beyond thrilled, as were many others seated near us, and the show was amazing! I'm an Adam Lambert fan, and he did not disappoint. He is a skilled showman, and boy can he sing. Brian May is a master of the guitar; Roger Taylor was impeccable on drums. The costumes and video screens with occasional old footage including an homage to Freddie made this show worth the unexpected drive from MPLS to Chicago we had to make due to a canceled flight (Spirit)! Best of all, the performers seemed to be having a good time too.

    Queen was good but.....

by Zepan on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

For disclosure sakes, I am not a HUGE Queen fan but I do like them. Never saw them in the 70's when I could have and regret it. So, I thought what the heck, I will check them out. Brian May is totally underrated and so is Roger Taylor. They were AWESOME. Adam Lambert can hit every note Freddy could and he sang great. I guess because I don't LOVE any of their music (just like it), that is probably why it didn't move me like it did for most of the fans that night. There were a few awkward tech difficulties (Adams mic went completely dead on the first song and the video of Freddy near the end of Rhapsody went blank). Lights were great. I saw War and the Average White Band tonight and for me, that blew this show away.

    Queen is back!

by Onenightofdean on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

The kid did an amazing job of respecting the legacy and making it his own. Brian was the guitar God we all remember. Roger drum battling with his Son was amazing. A few technical glitches but not enough to ruin an amazing light show. I hope they come back around.

    Queen + Adam Lambert

    by nori67 on 6/22/14United Center - Chicago

I don't care that the doors didn't open on time. I don't care that the t-shirts were too expensive. I don't care that the show started at 8 instead of 7:30. I don't care about missed cues on smoke. WE WERE THERE FOR THE MUSIC!! We brought front row enthusiasm to seats as far back as ours - row 334. When the show started it was AWESOME!!!! The advantage to being way up high was we had a good proper view of Roger Taylor and we could really see everyone moving around well. They played a great set and seeing Queen was my dream come true.
