About

Queen + Adam Lambert on Tour

In 2018, the legend of Queen — the larger-than-life band that's been making grandiose, orchestrally inspired rock songs since 1970 — came to the big screen with Bohemian Rhapsody, a film about the life of original lead singer Freddie Mercury.

Led by Mercury and charged by the pyrotechnic guitars of Brian May, the commanding drums of Roger Taylor, and the rumbling yet melodic basslines of John Deacon, Queen blazed a bright trail through the rock world in the 1970s and '80s. They showcased their stunning vocal harmonies on tracks like the mini-epic "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the peppy "Don't Stop Me Now." They showed off their wide range on sonically disparate tracks like the disco-tinged "Another One Bites the Dust," the sweetly longing "Somebody to Love," and the arena staple "We Will Rock You."

Mercury passed away in 1991, but his legacy loomed large, and Queen's presence on classic rock radio and in pop culture resulted in the band commanding the imaginations of younger listeners. One of those fans was Adam Lambert, a San Diego singer who sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" when he tried out for the eighth season of American Idol.

Powered by his inventive reworkings of songs, towering voice, and overwhelming charisma, Lambert finished second in the show's 2009 balloting. May and Taylor — who appeared on that season's finale and performed with Lambert and eventual winner Kris Allen — were keenly aware of Lambert's range and innovation.

Lambert, May, and Taylor first performed as a unit at the MTV Europe Awards in November 2011, and a year later they played their first concert as Queen + Adam Lambert. Since then, they've toured the world, honoring Mercury's memory while bringing Queen's electrifying catalog to life on a nightly basis. In 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert will embark on the Rhapsody Tour, a 23-date North American tour that, in the words of May, will "rip it apart and get even more ambitious" than their previous jaunts.

    One of the best ever!

by FancyNancyG on 7/17/17United Center - Chicago

Absolutely EVERYTHING about this concert was amazing! Talent beyond compare, set list, special effects;, etc. Performances between Queen and Adam Lambert were so balanced. Adam is such an entertainer, and funny! Love him, love Queen ... didn't want it to end! Also, Adam's heartfelt comments about Freddie Mercury were well received.

Queen used to be much better

by longtimefansince1974 on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

If I were reviewing any other band I would say the show was outstanding, but since it's Queen, it unfortunately came across as being called in. I saw Queen with Freddie twice so the bar is set high. I saw Queen+Paul Rodgers years ago and they still had their energy. This tour, they have a backup drummer and Brian May didn't even play God Save the Queen, as it was a recording. Adam Lambert flat and trying too hard, and talked way too much.

    Queen + Adam L

by KISS1985 on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Amazing to see this show! The sound wasn't the best in the beginning but was fixed soon thereafter. Regardless, the songs and Adam's ability to do Freddy justice was great! Brian May was fabulous!

    Amazing!!

by Dilevie on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Queen with Adam Lambert is such a great pairing!! Adam has an amazing voice and is such a great frontman. The stage and light show was off the hook!! They spared no expense. I had the worst, nosebleed seats ever and it was still visually great. The guys interacted a lot with the audience, which was fun.

    A euphoric experience!

by PonderousPork on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

I watched Adam Lambert soar to the top as a teenager and he was and is a true inspiration to me. I also grew up avidly listening to Queen; that music has put me through trials, failures, and successes. Seeing these legends mash up with Adam Lambert was a euphoric experience I will never forget! Adam didn't try to be Freddie Mercury; he said at the beginning that he is a fan amongst us all, and he really seemed like he wanted to give homage to Freddie and the band, not to merely steal their thunder. But yet, thunder he did create, in his own way! The multi-media effects, the ambiance, and the clips of Freddie himself made it a true Queen experience, and it felt, at times, like Freddie was actually there with us!

    Queen spectacular!

by Lhardwick on 7/17/17United Center - Chicago

Brian went all out on this show. Adding his love for astrology into the show was brilliant. The song list was amazing. Hearing songs that I thought I would never hear live since Freddie. Adam is an phenomenal front man. He couldn't compliment Queen more. A must see show!! Don't miss it!

    Queen was amazing

by Trump33 on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Queen with frontman Adam Lambert played for over 2 hours , singing all the queen hits!! The show was exciting and excellent light show . But the real reason to see queen is to hear the songs and Adam and queen delivered on that . Though Adam is not Freddie ( and acknowledged that during the concert ) he did a good job !

    Queen typical arena rock.

by Drmnman on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Queen was obviously very talented but unfortunately the sound in the Excel Center was terrible. Guitar and drum solos were muddled and it was impossible to hear individual notes. Adam was a bright spot though. He is a great addition to the band! Great voice and very energetic!
