About

Queen + Adam Lambert on Tour

In 2018, the legend of Queen — the larger-than-life band that's been making grandiose, orchestrally inspired rock songs since 1970 — came to the big screen with Bohemian Rhapsody, a film about the life of original lead singer Freddie Mercury.

Led by Mercury and charged by the pyrotechnic guitars of Brian May, the commanding drums of Roger Taylor, and the rumbling yet melodic basslines of John Deacon, Queen blazed a bright trail through the rock world in the 1970s and '80s. They showcased their stunning vocal harmonies on tracks like the mini-epic "Bohemian Rhapsody" and the peppy "Don't Stop Me Now." They showed off their wide range on sonically disparate tracks like the disco-tinged "Another One Bites the Dust," the sweetly longing "Somebody to Love," and the arena staple "We Will Rock You."

Mercury passed away in 1991, but his legacy loomed large, and Queen's presence on classic rock radio and in pop culture resulted in the band commanding the imaginations of younger listeners. One of those fans was Adam Lambert, a San Diego singer who sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" when he tried out for the eighth season of American Idol.

Powered by his inventive reworkings of songs, towering voice, and overwhelming charisma, Lambert finished second in the show's 2009 balloting. May and Taylor — who appeared on that season's finale and performed with Lambert and eventual winner Kris Allen — were keenly aware of Lambert's range and innovation.

Lambert, May, and Taylor first performed as a unit at the MTV Europe Awards in November 2011, and a year later they played their first concert as Queen + Adam Lambert. Since then, they've toured the world, honoring Mercury's memory while bringing Queen's electrifying catalog to life on a nightly basis. In 2019, Queen + Adam Lambert will embark on the Rhapsody Tour, a 23-date North American tour that, in the words of May, will "rip it apart and get even more ambitious" than their previous jaunts.

    Great show!!

by JCinMN on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

I saw Queen and Adam Lambert two years ago in Winnipeg. I thought the concert was amazing. The St. Paul show last Friday night was even better. Two hours of high energy and a crazy good setlist. Highly recommended.

    Queen Rocks!

by TandC1 on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

This was by far the best concert I have been to in years! The stage, the light show, the costume changes by Adam, all were fantastic! Yes I would have loved to have seen Freddie Mercury, but Adam was phenomenal! He is the best one to step in and thank you for the video clips of Freddie! It brought happy tears to our eyes!

Amazing Performance by Queen & Adam Lambert

by MomConcerts on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

This concert was amazing! I was worried about if it would be awkward without Freddie, but it did NOT disappoint! Brian May and Roger Taylor are still rockers, while the addition of Adam Lambert kept the show high energy! Adam is a great performer, which would have made Freddie proud! Keep rockin QUEEN!!!!

Adam fills incredibly big shoes (pun intended)

by Coolcatgirl on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Fun, fabulous! Kudos to Adam for having the courage - and the pipes - to take this on and pay homage to the incredible Freddie Mercury. Adam filled his shoes well in what looked to be 4" platforms!

Every classic rock fan should see this concert!

by helenski on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

This for me was the rockiest rock concert I every rocked, and I have been to a lot! From the very start, the adoring audience was captivated by their opening act, kudos to the designers of that epic beginning. When Brian May and Adam Lambert emerged, the audience was in an uproar. Love that lead guitar! So many classic songs, over the top effects that wowed us all. The staging was great, the guitar neck walkway gave so many more fans an opportunity to get closer with a far better view. For those of us up in the upper sections, the central point was fabulous. From the drum set rising up through the floor in the center of the arena was amazing. Adam Lambert I have to say put goosebumps on every cell of my body. His voice hit amazing highs, he did an outstanding job and I am sure Freddie was smiling from above as Adam soared. His "live forever" solo made me tear up, the purity of his voice really got to me. How many performers get to ride a bike on stage? Would love to have been shopping with Adam for those awesomely glittery outfits, perfect! If you are reading this Adam, you are the consummate stand-in for Freddie, I cannot imagine anyone being able to better your vocal gift. I know it was a dream come true for you as I remember American Idol and wanting you to win. You are a winner, this performance proved that. When Freddie emerged next to Brian, wow! The whole experience at the Xcel was fantastic. These guys rocked St. Paul. Three days later we are still on a Queen high. Come back soon and Rock Us again!

Brian May is awesome. Still has it. While no one can fill Freddy's shoes, Adam Lambert gave it a great shot.

Queen + Adam Lambert was spectacular!!

by Perusing on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Adam Lambert's vocal perfection blew the roof off. I was very impressed. Brian May and Roger Taylor were in top form. The band walked out and rocked us non stop for two hours. The way they set up the format to showcase all talents was wonderful. The stage, the lighting , the props, the interaction with the audience was perfect. I was expecting a lot and took friends that didn't know Queen and we all came away singing. Great show.

    Queen was worth every penny!!

by BJBOND on 7/17/17United Center - Chicago

Amazing stage show! Extremely impressive special effects! Best concert screen I have ever seen! Adam Lambert was flawless, the original members were still very dynamic and much better vocally than I ever expected. I would not hesitate to go again anytime Queen came back to town!

The concert is well organized with music selections lights and show. I enjoy that they include tributes to Freddie throughout the evening. They include the audience and it is a great positive vibe for every age. A very good concert to attend. I have seen them twice in the last year.

    Farwell Concert - must see

by Tele87 on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

This was a good show. Mayby not as over the top as the 1970's shows, but very good. I think that Brian May and Adam Lambert did a good job of connecting with the audience (it was a farewell tour even thought it wasn't billed as one). The only complaint is the they had one video screen that was above the stage and the lights (Queen's rig not the venues') blocked the screen. May they will address this on future shows.

    A match made in heaven.

by keentone on 7/17/17Xcel Energy Center - Saint Paul

Surely Freddy was looking down on Queen + Adam Lambert with pride, knowing the baton was passed to a worthy star. Perhaps he even had a hand in this pairing. Adam's voice was strong, his interpretations true to the originals while still being himself. There may be only one rock star like Freddy, but Adam Lambert is certainly a star in his own right.

Adam Lambert did a fantastic job, of course no one could ever replace Freddie. The special effects were pretty amazing. I thought it was a great concert.
