About

Born somewhere in the Arizona desert, Puscifer is an electro-rock band, multimedia experience, traveling circus, and alien abduction survivors. The group's catalog consists of four full-length studio albums: "V" is for Vagina [2007], Conditions of My Parole [2011], Money Shot [2015], and Existential Reckoning (2020) - in addition to a series of EPs and remixes. Beyond the core trio of Maynard James Keenan [vocals], Mat Mitchell [guitar, production], and Carina Round [vocals, songwriting], the group's ever-evolving ecosystem encompasses Greg Edwards (bass, guitar, keys), Gunnar Olsen (drums), as well as a cast of characters such as Billy D and his wife Hildy Berger, Major Douche, Special Agent Dick Merkin, and many more. Meanwhile, the moniker's origins can be traced to a 1995 episode of the HBO classic Mr. Show where Keenan first used the name "Puscifer." In addition to tallying tens of millions of streams and views, they've piqued the curiosity of the press. Entertainment Weekly christened them, "Exceptionally groovy," and Revolver fittingly described them as "indescribable." Renowned for an immersive live show, the group's performances blur the lines between concert and theater, traversing the dusty American Southwest with Billy D and Hildy or the sweaty squared circle with Luchadores. They've brought their unique live experience to life  everywhere from Coachella to Bonnaroo. On their 2020 debut for Alchemy Recordings/Puscifer Entertainment/BMG entitled Existential Reckoning, Puscifer track Billy D back to the desert and, just maybe, uncover the truth about aliens once and for all.

Previously, Puscifer has sold out venues to capacity, like Warner Theatre and Old National Centre.

Puscifer is a twisted comedy show with a side of music

by AG on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

Mahaffey was beautiful though seemingly understaffed (took forever to get inside and didn't even try to get any refreshments with the limited selection and the length of lines). Seats were comfortable and the sound quality was perfect. I've seen Puscifer before (twice) and neither time prior was the opener good. I respect their willingness to give artists their shot...I don't understand why they keep choosing the artists they do because all three openers have been comically awful. "Night Club" was a gothic girl and a past his prime DJ that looked like they were cast as extras in the first Wesley Snipes Blade movie and then at the last second the directors were like "You two, we're going to have you guys pretend to be musically engaged, but don't worry the main actors are going to talk over you no one will hear what you're saying/playing" and then instead of hearing actors we heard the music that these two created when they thought no one was listening. As far as the main event, well done. Maynard is the lifeblood both through his vocals and charisma and does not show any signs of slowing down which was a pleasant sight/sound. Carina continues to harmonize with him and stand out when she needs to beautifully. This was the first time of the three shows of Puscifer I've been to where I actually looked forward to more skit than songs and I can't quite decide if it was because of the quality of the skit or that Existential Reckoning just wasn't my favorite album. The collection of throwback songs that were played were the highlights of the concert for me, and from the sound of crowd reaction everyone in attendance, but that is not to say the rest of the show was bad. 4 stars, but would not go a second time for the same tour.

    Fantastic Show

by Sinistus on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

I had not followed Puscifer that much, and went because someone I knew was really into them. This was a fantastic show. I also stress "show" over "concert" because this felt like a stage show in ways. Would definitely recommend seeing them, as it was an awesome experience. If you can find them in a smaller setting like this was, I'd also recommend that. I m sure they are great in a stadium/festival setting, but the intimate setting of a theater really heightened the experience.

    Typical pretentious Maynard fashion

by Cabo169 on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The show was a superb display of talent. I do love this band and Maynard. However, the venue left a great deal of dissatisfaction for many show-goers. From card services going down for a bit over an hour with a CASH only bar to the retraction of allowing smokers outside during the intermission because of some religious nut jobs gathered outside the entrance.

Wow! One of the best shows I’ve seen in years!

by Cap’n Doug SRQ on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

Opening band Night Club rocked their electro-gothic-glam explosion to the tee! Great sound and look! Then Pucifer astounded the audience with their stage show, musical perfection/performance and brilliant light show and video. The total experience and in classy location. Beautiful venue in regards to. Look and services provided.

One is the best shows I've seen in years

by Jdeister on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

The show was like watching a story on folded in front of your eyes. From the men in black aliens to Billy D. I left wanting more. Can't wait for the next step.

    Fantastic

by Billy D on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

This show was hands down a great performance full of wonderful theatrics to go along with a great set list. A huge highlight was the strict no photo/video rule during the show, and seeing it enforced. More shows should be like this curbing attendees from constantly holding their phones up. It truly brings back that experience of concerts from yesteryears. No phones, just people living in the moment.

    Humor and Music

by mitch on 5/22/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

It's hard to describe a Puscifer show but it is one of the most entertaining concerts I've seen in a long time. I've seen every tour and each one gets better than the last. It's a combination of vaudeville, rock and comedy.

    Amazing show

    by D. A. on 5/10/23

Went to see them play Atlantic City last November and the experience was incredible. MJK, Carina, and the rest of the crew put on one hell of a show. I was thankful to see them since I missed their first leg of the tour but I plan to see them in Bethlehem next month too!

    MJK greatness

by NR on 2/22/23Will Rogers Auditorium - Fort Worth

Saw both DFW area shows on the recent Puscifer tour, July and October, and each was magnificent. Like all MJK experiences, it left you wanting more and more, and the show to never end. Good stuff!

    Amazing Artist, Freezing Venue

    by Curls4Dayzzz on 11/21/22The Factory - Chesterfield

Puscifer is a must see. It was more than a concert, it was an experience that was awe inspiring. I'm struggling to speak full sentences regarding what took place, it was that good. The Factory was the venue. It was nice, but for some reason the air conditioning was blowing full blast on us the whole time and we were so cold that we could barely stand it. For a lesser artist, I would have left early because I have never been that cold for that long before. In all seriousness, someone with worse health or less insulation might have been at risk for a health crisis because it was that cold.

by Sj on 11/20/22The Factory - Chesterfield

I fell in love with Tool 7 years ago. While falling head over feet I also landed in A perfect circle and Puscifer. Watching and feeling the raw emotion that is Puscifer was outstanding. The venue was perfect.

    Incredible

by Rich V on 11/20/22The Factory - Chesterfield

Maynard may be the most underrated musician of my time. I can’t wait for this to start. Sci Fi driven, Max Headroomish, mesmerizing electronica, modern comedy, haunting beautiful vocals, stunning visuals. One of the most brilliant performances I’ve seen. I can’t wait for them to come back.
