Primus was founded in 1984 in El Sobrante, California by Les Claypool and guitarist Todd Huth, who were later joined by drummer Jay Lane. Beginning as an underground act, the band slowly gained notoriety and critical acclaim after their records Sailing the Seas of Cheese (1991) and Pork Soda (1993) both went Platinum, along with their records, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver (1996), Sailing the Seas of Cheese (Deluxe Edition) (2013) and Primus & the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble (2015), all three of which earned Grammy nominations. After the release of their record Antipop in 1999, the group disbanded but reformed as a touring entity in 2010 and began releasing music again soon after; Primus has released nine studio albums in total. The present lineup features Claypool on bass, Larry “Ler” LaLonde on guitar and Tim “Herb” Alexander on drums. Primus have delighted audiences all over the world with their oddball lyricism and out-of-the-box approach to music for over 40 years, and continue to be dedicated to bringing their innovative discography on the road.

Primus always has a great show. Go see them if you haven't yet!
Primus at the WaMu Theater was amazing. The opening bands were really great for setting the stage before primus got up. Portugal the Man and the other band whose name escapes me played really well. It was a very memorable night. Primus got up on the stage and blew me away with their music and performance. Les is a great front-man and they all have the stage presence that comes with the years they have been playing. I would invest in seeing them again, as well as recommending others to go to one of their shows at least. I was disappointed, however, that they did not play Mr. Krinkle, Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, or Jerry the Racecar Driver.
I have seen this group many time in the past, thay never dissapoint, Les Claypool is the most amazing bass player in the world
Splitlip Rayfield killed it! Their energy and overall entertainment was a great start to the evening. I would go see them again anytime! Portugal the man was great as well, they had a good sound. Primus was good, but I expected alot more. There was alot of instrumental that seemed to drag on. Les is awesome no matter what they are playing and the band as a whole played great, just seemed as though something was missing. When Les spoke to the crowd, I couldn't understand a word he was saying. Would have also been nice to hear "My name is mud, too many puppies, or even Wynona's big brown beaver. I guess you can't play them all in one night. Overall a pretty good show but not great.
Primus is SO tight and they sounded fantastic! The show was a lot of fun they rocked the house. I wish they played longer. 1hr19min and then 2 songs for the encore. I would see them again and would purchase closer seats than HH or JJ rows (tickets we had).
This show was the best one I've been to to date. Les is a bad ass or even, the best bass player ever. BAD ASS!!!!!!!!!!
I've always liked Primus, but this show made them one of my favorite bands. The sound at Club Nokia is by far the best in Los Angeles, and that's saying a lot. Primus was flawless.
Primus was wonderful. Unfortunately I had to suffer through 3 acts before they hit the stage: a trio from Kansas that played virtually the same song over and over, a "rock" band from Alaska (Please go "Nome"), and a scary looking person who did rope tricks. If you go, go around 2 hours after the published start of the concert....
Gogol Bordello did not play which was a very big disappointment however both opening bands were exceptionally good. The first group had a blue grass, southern rockish sound, the musicians were terrific, very dexterous, the bassist had made his own bass from a gas tank. The second band was just as good, great singing voice, songs were well written and the sound was great. Genre varied from old rock to reggae. Very interesting. Primus came in and what can I say. Probably the best group I heard in years. They sound the same live that they do on CD. The crowd was cool and wanted to dance in the aisle I think security was not used to people smoking pot and they were pretty strict about not having even a foot on the aisle! The venue usually holds classical concerts, symphony orchestra and opera so they did not know what to make of us.
The concert was epic, They opening bands were decent and primus really rocked the house
Primus rocked. The venue was a poor choice for this particular show though.
Amazingly ODD Oddity Fair clad with acrobats in the lobby , a unicycle riding cowboy show between bands and a pscholDelic Portland band. As usual Primus energy was brought! A band you should NEVER miss given the chance to see! They rocked it! So much fun!!!
Primus have great energy, sound fantastic and put on a great performance. Highly recommended.
Had to be there!!! Unbelievable. I loved it my first and probably only chance to see them live.
It was a great show and great stage presence. The Band played a two hour show. All three members had a chance to show their musicianship. Les Claypool was funny as usual. He got a little pissed at the beginning because some drunk threw a shoe. However, he played it cool the rest of the show. Nice sized venue. It wasn't too big or too Small.
I was not a huge fan of the opening band...not my style. But Primus was INCREDIBLE! I loved the venue (been to Nokia quite a few times, but never the club) and the entire night was pretty much epic. I wish I'd gone to the show the night before...if it was even half as good as the show I saw then it would've been well worth the $$$. :) All in all, MORE PRIMUS PLEASE!!!!
Primus was spot on. The sound was perfect and they seemed to have gotten to perfection thru all the years.
As always club nokia sounded great. I haven't seen Primus since 92, but they still know how to get down. Amazing! Little disappointed that I missed Frizzle Fry the night before, but Les Claypool made up for it. He is the man!
What a amazing show Primus was a total trip and completely entertaining from start to finish!!!!!
