About

Legendary Academy Award® and Tony Award® winner Kevin Kline makes his eagerly awaited return to Broadway in Noël Coward’s outrageously irresistible backstage comedy PRESENT LAUGHTER.

With a spectacular cast headed by three-time Tony® and Emmy® Award nominee Kate Burton (Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy), Tony Award® nominee Kristine Nielsen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), and Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother, Jack Reacher: Never Go Back) in her Broadway debut, with direction by Tony Award® nominee Moritz von Stuelpnagel (Hand to God), PRESENT LAUGHTER follows a self-obsessed actor in the midst of a mid-life crisis. Juggling his considerable talent, ego and libido, the theater’s favorite leading man suddenly finds himself caught between fawning ingenues, crazed playwrights, secret trysts and unexpected twists.

    Kevin Kline

by gem32254 on 4/10/17St. James Theatre - New York

Had tickets to see Kevin Kline in Present Laughter. Had dinner at Guy Fieri's American Kitchen and Bar. Both were a grand experience. We will always remember our night on Broadway. The food. The play. The ambiance. The total experience. Kevin Kline made us chuckle and laugh from beginning to end. He can still do great physical comedy. We're from Iowa and hope to do this again.

    Kevin Kline is amazing

by JeannieG1 on 4/10/17St. James Theatre - New York

While the play is somewhat outdated, it was enjoyable. Mostly, it was Kevin Kline who made it happen. He is perfect for the role and a joy to experience on stage

    Kline AND Coward?! Delicious

by avb2 on 4/9/17St. James Theatre - New York

The role calls for a ham and boy, does Kevin Kline deliver. Yes, you can quibble that the cast is uneven and especially the younger members of cast seem to feel they need to overact to keep up with Kline. But let that go and enjoy watching Kline at his mature best. Yes, he is hamming it up but his physical comedy and his timing is fabulous. The actors portraying his not-quite-ex and his long suffering business manager, both classy older women, are smashing. The dialogue is sheer bliss- Noel Coward's wit and barbed humor is unmatched. Loved it and left smiling from ear to ear. Well worth seeing.

    A Must See Comedy

by RonfromRVA on 4/8/17St. James Theatre - New York

The entire cast was terrific and Kevin Kline was exceptional in the lead actor role. Since it is a limited 16 week engagement, I recommend that you see it before it goes away. Try to get close up Orchestra seats so you won't miss any of the wonderful dialogue and facial expressions.

    Kudos

Just saw Present Laughter and thoroughly enjoyed it. Kevin Kline - what could I say? Brilliant - can do no wrong. The rest of the ensemble: Very well done. Refreshing to see a non-musical for a change! Would recommend (although you need to hurry - it's a limited run)

One of the most entertaining show on Broadway in years. Great set, cast and plenty of laughs. Kiven Kline steals the show. Go and enjoy what makes Broadway great.

    Present Laughter

The first act tended to drag a little, then improved with the second act.
