Premier Boxing Champions

Manager Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions series features top-level fights all around the country (and across the television landscape). Just look at the names in the PBC promotion. Champs and ex-champs and legit prospects abound: Deontay Wilder, Adonis Stevenson, David Benavidez, Jermall and Jermell Charlo, Jarrett Hurd, Errol Spence Jr., Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter, Mikey Garcia, Leo Santa Cruz, Gary Russell Jr., Abner Mares, Brandon Figueroa, Danny Garcia, Guillermo Rigondeaux, Jarrett Hurd, and Gervonta Davis. Living relic Manny Pacquiao is on board. Surprise titlist Andy Ruiz Jr. is in the PBC camp, too.

Premier Boxing Champions History

The first PBC card was in 2015, and it was broadcast on NBC, with Keith Thurman as the headliner and Adrien Broner and Abner Mares on the undercard. There've been a lot of fireworks since then, heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder providing many of them. In 2016, Wilder knocked out Artur Szpilka in the ninth round with a cannon shot from his right hand. The following year, Wilder swarmed challenger Bermane Stiverne, knocking him down three times before the fight was stopped in the waning moments of the first round. Stiverne managed just two jabs and two power shots in all.

In 2018, Wilder took on Luiz Ortiz at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn in one of the great bouts of the promotion's brief history. The cautious, pawing exchanges of the early rounds gave way in the fifth to a big right from Wilder that buckled Ortiz's knees and then a second right that sent him to the floor. Ortiz came back and nearly knocked out Wilder in the seventh. The champ rallied, and in the 10th he overwhelmed Ortiz, ending the fight with a huge right uppercut.

But the PBC is a lot more than Wilder. In September 2019, welterweight Errol Spence Jr., fresh off his domination of Mikey Garcia, bested Shawn Porter in a frenetic split decision, unifying the IBF and WBC belts and moving Spence closer to the top of the pound-for-pound rankings. And don't forget the old guy. In 2018, Pacquiao, on the cusp of turning 40, joined the promotion and soon recorded a pair of solid decisions, first against Adrien Broner and then against the dangerous Keith Thurman.

  • An entertaining evening

by Boxing Fan on 8/16/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Went to the boxing event a t MGM National Harbour. It wad the first time we had experienced an event at this venue. The seats were great. The vantage point was ideal and the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. My wife and I didn't feel unsafe and it was a wonderful evening of entertainment. Only wish they offered some small food choices other than chips and candy ( hotdog, nachos, popcorn, pizza, something would have been nice), and i would give them 5 stars. We loved the instant replays between the rounds which the other boxing events we have attended failed to provide. Really made the night more enjoyable. An overall great way to spend $200 bucks in the DMV. Am planning to attend more events at this venue.

  • Lion to lamb

by Catovsjulius on 8/15/23Rating: 4 out of 5

The balcony seats were amazing! The fights leading up to main event were action packed and enjoyable. The main event was a dud.. Big time boxing in DC should be monthly; not yearly. The fans came out for the local fighters and were into the bouts. We need more boxing in DC. Thank you to Showtime for supporting the sweet science. Love to see MGM National Harbor dedicate more events to boxing in the near future. DMV has the passion; give us the fights

  • Not a pleasant experience

by Deloris on 7/19/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The fight it self was good but you all sold seats that was not available not only did we have to move but we was put in an area that was way behind and was not value at our price we paid. Honestly I prefer to be compensated or something for our lost of money and inconvenience

  • Underwhelmed

by Nena on 7/18/23Rating: 3 out of 5

We purchased tickets because Nonito Donaire was expected to fight but at the last minute he was removed from the card. There should be a partial credit or compensation due to this bait & switch. It’s really not cool when this happens.

Very good event fight was awesome chelsea theather is even better

  • It was an ok event

by Mike on 5/16/23The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 2 out of 5

Disappointed! I’ve gone to boxing events in my hometown of Albuquerque that were a lot better. No National Athem to start off with! No ring girls, so you had to look at the big screen to know what round it was. For what I paid for a ring side seat it could’ve been a lot better!

  • PBC boxing

by Mike on 5/16/23The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Cosmopolitan is an excellent venue but would like a better choice of food for sale. PBC does not do well with their boxing shows. First fight was halfway through when doors opened. They also rarely have merchandise for sale, like programs, t-shirts, key chains, etc. if you are there for favorite fighter, merchandise is great to have.

  • Bright Lights Not Kool

by Happy on 3/9/23Toyota Arena - OntarioRating: 3 out of 5

First time attending such a venue & the light was in our faces pretty much the whole night. Very disappointed. Good fight though.

  • Perfect for boxing

by Eldred on 3/7/23Toyota Arena - OntarioRating: 4 out of 5

Place is small, so even "far" seats are VERY close to the action. Plenty restrooms. Only bad thing is seating are packed together. Awkward shoulder bumping if sitting next to a stranger lol

  • VetTix donation

by Chris on 3/7/23Toyota Arena - OntarioRating: 5 out of 5

Great floor seats, awesomw show and generous donation from PBC to VetTix.

  • Amazing

by Moni on 7/15/22Alamodome - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

It was my first boxing match it was so awesome! It was convenient from the parking to the entrance to my seats! Thank you San Antonio Texas

  • False advertising by TM

by Joe on 7/13/22Alamodome - San AntonioRating: 3 out of 5

Why does TM say the event begins at 5 pm, when the main draw for my wife (the Filipino boxer) didn't start til 10:45 or 11 pm?!!!!!!

  • Alamo Fight Capital
