Powerhouse
Over the decades, the Powerhouse concerts have become an institution in hip-hop, put on by a radio station that's remained a mainstay of urban contemporary music for decades. WUSL 98.9, out of Philadelphia (better known to its huge audience as Power 99 FM) has sponsored the annual Powerhouse concerts since 1982. Fans know that every time autumn rolls around, they can expect an onstage onslaught of major players in the hip-hop game giving their all — and getting back a ton of love from the crowd.
Power 99 was joined by New York City station WWPR 105.1 (aka Power 105.1) when it became a go-to source for hip-hop and R&B in 2002. These days, the Powerhouse concerts are a two-pronged event with shows sponsored by both stations. Looking back over the history of the Powerhouse shows is a little bit like glancing back at the history of hip-hop itself. Year after year, the event has hosted the major artists of the moment, whether that meant featuring Xzibit, Ludacris and Ja Rule in 2001, showcasing Drake, Rick Ross and Trey Songz in 2011, or offering the likes of Cardi B, Lil Uzi Vert and G-Eazy in 2018.

I loved power house. I go yearly and I'm never disappointed. Thank you.
The seats were behind the stage couldn’t see the live performance
Overall concert was good. The major issue I had was I paid for floor seats but somehow people were still in my seat. The whole Prudential Center is unorganized. The security weren’t even telling people to stop standing on chairs. There were numerous fights. People who were in section 100s somehow found themselves by floor seats. Why pay so much money for you to have a good view and others who paid less find their way by your seat. During security check the security guards weren’t throughly looking in people bags. I did see a few girls with tasers which I didn’t find safe at all. Having an event at Prudential Center isn’t a safe idea.
I’ve been to powerhouse the last 6 years and this one was the worst. Hip hop isn’t the same. Artist don’t have stage performance anymore. There were children 10yrs old in the audience!! At my age I think this is my last time!!! Been there done that and I’m gone
Very bad experience I was in the 3 row but people from that back came to the front standing on chairs where I couldn't even see
When I got there, someone else was in my seat. It was very unorganized. I went to the people them that was working on the floor. They did not assist me by telling the people I’m to get up out of my seat and it was just pointless of paying for a seat in front of the stage, because everybody else was standing on the chairs I could not see.
I am 45 years old and brought 3 teenagers to the show. We had a great time! Loved the high energy and the variety of performers. Ice Spice was our favorite.
This was my second experience with my son & nephew. This year was definitely a great vibe & all the artist did their thing . The boys had an amazing time .
The seats were perfect and it was the best concert. I’ve been to in a while. And it was well conducted and put together.
It was okay, not worth the money this year. They could’ve gotten more artist or at least better ones. Lil durk did his thing & so did Uzi & a boogie. Everybody else I could’ve went without seeing.
It was a great experience and one that stood out! Nicki Minaj, Tems we’re good performers.
First concert I’ve ever been to and it’s even more bigger in person and the arena is immaculate. I watching lil tjay, tems, Kodak black, jeulz Santana, moneybagg, Fivio, and of course the QUEEN Nicki Minaj. Best experience I’ve ever witnessed.
The best event I ever been to. This is my first concert I ever been too. Can’t wait for next year
Tems and Nicki Minaj, and Lil Tay gave their all. Great Performances!!
It was a great show I really enjoyed myself the energy was amazing
Y’all have to do something about the smoking. It’s tooo much .
Everyone that performed were amazing. But Nicki Minaj was the icing on the cake ❤️
Overall, a horrible night except for Nicki and Tems…rappers came out and were lip syncing over their tracks…Kodak Black didn’t even rap…he stood on stage and just walked around…also had to wait an hour in between sets for him to come out…sound system sucked…overall very poor quality
From the beginning to the end was a movie I couldn’t stop dancing thank you NEWARK for bringing events just like that HOME NJ ROCKS
