About
ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:
Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.
Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.
Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

Beautiful experience
by Chey2 on 5/23/11The Record Bar - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5The first opening band was fitting, the second...not as much. I began to wonder about the smoke machine pumping out high volumes in the dark packed room. Once Portugal. the Man began I understood. The smoke captured and carried the lights from the laser machines creating an enchanting effect. the band was incredible, playing mostly tracks from Satantic Santanist and American Ghetto. They spoke very little to the crowd except to thank them for coming.
Portugal. The Man played an amazing show.
by klkmd9 on 5/19/11The Record Bar - Kansas CityRating: 5 out of 5Portugal. The Man is a talented band and their live shows are unlike anything I've seen before. the venue was great, and their energy was captivating. The band members are awesome people and deserve recognition.
Awesome.
by nicoool23 on 5/19/11Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5The music was amazing. The lights were amazing. The feel of the whole thing was amazing. The film clip at the beginning... a little strange. But set an interesting mood. LOVED IT.
Wrong Night
by Bchuk on 5/16/11Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 2 out of 5I purchased the ticket for Friday night but then came to find out my ticket was for Saturday night. This occurred as I was in line for the show Friday night. After venting my frustration and confusion, I was told by a few other people that they clicked on Friday and it brought them to Saturday and they luckily noticed in time. Well, I was too busy at work and bought the ticket that I intended to buy. This is an error that Ticketmaster needs to correct. Show was great, but losing the money was not in the least.
Knew little
by headbobber on 5/16/11Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 4 out of 5When I was invited to attend this concert I only knew a few Portugal the Man songs and had never heard of the other two performing bands. After this show though, I am a definite fan of these bands. Telelkinisis had a great energy and by the second or third song I wanted to be up on the stage screaming and jumping around with them. While having the spirit of rock and rollers they were also fun to talk to and didn't seem cocky. They do what they love and it shows. Portugal the Man was absoultely AMAZING! I loved the go hard attitude they had for their set. The lights and effects were just enough and didn't seem too showy. The music is some of the best live I've seen and heard. I would love to see them again. They make the crowd want to move, or at least they should! Great transitions and again, you can tell they love what they do. Definitely see them when they come back becuase it's my understanding they come often, take advantage! I unfornuately only caught the end of Unknown Mortal Orchastra but they sounded like a band that has potential and did catch my interest so that I'll be checking them out more.
Portugal The Man
by Hsender on 5/16/11Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 5 out of 5I had seen PTM a few times before but always in smaller club settings or at a large festival. The Bluebird Theater was the perfect venue for them at this point in their career. The sound was great, the set list was awesome, and the light show was very cool.
Portugal was the man!
by sjjones9463 on 5/16/11Bluebird Theater - DenverRating: 3 out of 5Very awesome show!! Portugal. The Man was fantastic! However could have lived without both opening bands. Telekinesis was better then Unknown Mortal Orchestra. Mortal's Orchestra should stay unknown until they learn more chord progressions and their lead singer gets a better voice. I was impressed by Telekenesis's lead singer. He had a good voice, and was able to keep it even while banging away at his drums. Portugal. The Man wowed the crowd. The music was very well put together and the set flowed well. People Say was the biggest crowd pleaser. Great show overall and great venue!

Portugal the Man LIVE was everything i dreamed of and more. I wish i could re-live this night atleast one more time. The atmosphere was good, those crazy lights were awesome, and John's voice just made everything better. People need to go and see this amazing band! I cannot wait until their new album comes out in July!

Portugal. The Man was Epic!
by Phurion on 5/2/11Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5Truly the concert experience of a lifetime. The mood, atmosphere and music was absolutely incredible. This was my first time at Showbox @ The Market and I liked it much more than any other venue, and my first time seeing Portugal. The Man. Definitely wont be the last, I can't wait for them to come back to Seattle!
Great show!
by mandy12xx on 5/2/11Showbox at the Market - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5Portugal. The Man were amazing! Loved the light effects and their music is great!!! The opening acts were Brainstorm (from Portland)...Great band! Amazing what just two people can do! and Telekinesis (from Seattle). The venue was great - Showbox at the market...overall great experience!
Portugal. The Rockstars
by Musepocalypse on 11/1/10El Rey Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5Great show at a great venue. Awesome opening acts, especially White Denim, who can definitly get a show rollin'. Portugal had a great set list, including some interesting renditions and song match-ups. Along with some trippy lights and a crap load of fog, they created a feel-good atmosphere. They played a great setlist, but for some unknown reason, they never play an songs from American Ghetto. That's why I gave the show a 4 out of 5, because I really love that CD and wanted them to play some of those songs. But great show nonetheless.

Trippiest show I've ever seen not high
by TheDizzle on 6/24/10The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5The sound was impeccable, stage presence was great and light show had me thinking I'd popped something a hour before the show. Overall what a great performance at such a legendary venue.
Serious rock 'n' roll!!
by Anonymous on 6/21/10The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5These guys are unbelievable live. Great musicians! Really know how to turn up the energy and tweak their songs for a live performance. The light show they put on was awesome as well and really added to the experience.
My Man!
by BZ4life on 6/21/10The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5The show was ridiculously hot. It was my first time at the Fillmore as it was theirs; so I was really happy to share that with them and yes they were gentle. I dug the laser light show, completely unexpected. The presence of the band was beyond sexy, especially that lead singer....way too crazy sexy! They made me fall in love with them yet again. Portugal The Man has my heart and I will continue to spread the good word about the heavenliness of what is Portugal The Man.
