About

ABOUT PORTUGAL THE MAN:

Over the past decade, Portugal The Man has established themselves as one of rock's most prized possessions and a live phenomenon, with over 1,600 shows under their belts and a storied reputation as festival favorites.

Originally heralding from Alaska, the Portland-based band - comprised of John Gourley, Zach Carothers, Kyle O'Quin, Eric Howk, Jason Sechrist and Zoe Manville - soared to new heights in 2017 with the release of their RIAA certified-gold album, Woodstock. The album was marked by the astounding success of their infectious single, "Feel It Still," which earned the group a plethora of new accolades - including a GRAMMY award for "Best Pop Duo/Group Performance," a 6x RIAA platinum certified single certification, a mind-blowing 20-week residency at #1 on alternative radio, and an inescapable presence on the Top 40 airwaves.Alongside the shine of their myriad musical accomplishments lies the group's long-standing passion for social justice. In fact, this is precisely the intersection on which Portugal The Man thrives; throughout their career, the band has consistently exemplified how to deeply commit to both artistry and activism. This dynamic inspired them to officially launch their PTM Foundation in 2020, focused on universal issues related to human rights, community health, and the environment, with an emphasis on causes directly impacting Indigenous Peoples.

Their continued passion for activism has also led to recent partnerships with organizations such as the National Coalition Against Censorship, The Skatepark Project (helping communities build public skate parks for youth in underserved communities), March for Our Lives (Gun Reform), Keep Oregon Well (Mental Health), and Protect Our Winters (Climate Change), to name just a few.

First time at terminal 5. First time seeing Portugal the Man live and both were incridable drinks were expensive but it's NYC what do you expect? I went with a group of people for my boo boo birthday and we had the best time!!

Great openers, great lights. NYC is ready for Portugal

  • Portugal The Man was an incredible concert!

I love Terminal 5 but to see this band there and to see the packed floor light up when they played one song right after the next with full blown enthusiasm and appreciation was a once in a lifetime experience. Then to have them play unscheduled encore songs - especially the solo acoustic one, just made the show that much better. The fact that the fans were ridiculously thankful, full of energy and happy just added more impact to this band. They roled from one song right into the next without breaking a cord and even had a do over because the lyrics could not come out! Fantastic and the biggest crowd they'd ever played too!

  • They Rocked the House

by CubbyChowder on 10/3/11Avalon - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Portugal. The Man is the tits. They rocked my girlfriends panties off and I wasn't even slightly bothered by it. But in all seriousness they had the crowd screaming and I got butterflies in my stomach numerous times. They were a little more hardcore then they are on the new album but they put on one hell of a show. The ender really made me queezy in the knees (cover of Change is Gonna Come). My girlfriend and I based our entire weekend around their show and drove 4 hours to see them, and it was completely worth it.

One of the best shows I've seen all year. Amazing musicians, great set.

  • Great Show!

First time seeing Portugal and first time at the Avalon. Portugal killed it!!! Long jam sessions and really heavy riffing while still holding down some great melodies. The Avalon is awesome, nice and small with good sound and great crowd energy. One of the best crowds I've had in LA! The opener Alberta Cross was excellent also. Highly recommended!!!

I love Portugal the Man and listen to their music quite a bit. I was really excited about seeing them live. The House of Blues in SD was a nice, small venue and I would go back again. Portugal the Man was the problem. Pros: -really cool visuals Cons: -endless guitar jam sessions -random changes in songs (yes I know they do this in their songs, but they were adding lots of new ones that sucked -music not all representative of studio albums This was one of the most disappointing concert experiences of my life. The band played like they were my little brother thrashing around in long guitar riffs and solos that went no where. Randomly changing tempo (which works on their studio album but they did it way too much in concert). Save your money. Listen to the albums until they get a new manager, grow up, and stop playing like they are in a garage in Wasilla.

  • P.TM WAS INCREDIBLE.

by Emaleee on 6/9/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best concerts I've ever been to... and I've been to a lot. If you're a p.tm fan, I recommend seeing them and if you're not, see them anyway. More than once. Can't wait until they tour again in America. Anyone who is a rock fan will not be disappointed. They kept the crowd singing, dancing, and applauding all night. BLEW MY MIND.

7th time seeing Portugal. The Man live and they were just as incredible as they were 3 years ago.

  • by Anonymous on 6/6/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Great sound and they played a great mixture of new and old. Played for close to 2 hours!

  • Buttery Voices and Light Shows

    by Jparks93 on 6/6/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I am by no means a Portugal. The Man buff, but after my brother loaded my itunes with some of their music, I was intrigued and found myself walking among the concrete jungle to their beats and really feeling it. After seeing them live though, I am totally hooked. The lead singer's voice is so buttery and beautiful. Their music moves between ruckus rock and smooth tunes laced with guitar chords. I think they deserve some more attention - they were overall a fabulous Friday Night Experience.

  • Amazing as usual.

by cyncastic on 6/6/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

PTM is one of the best live acts out right now in my opinion. They sounded great, had some serious energy and I had a great time!

  • Portgual. The Man.

by Afrothunder on 6/5/11Webster Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

I bought the tickets because I have been meaning to get out and see more live music shows. I discovered Portugal the man in college, my "artsy" phase shall we say. I was pleasantly surprised by their line up, Songs I haven't heard before, for the most part, and old famed loved ones. The venue was also nice, I just wish there were more 4 foot platforms that I can use as seats. Being at eye level with the band and above the crowd is very much appreciated.
