About

PJ Morton is a soul singer, songwriter, performer and producer based in New Orleans. He is a 5x GRAMMY-winner and 20x GRAMMY nominee who has earned numerous nominations for BET, Soul Train and NAACP Image Awards, in addition to selling out countless shows at historic venues like the Apollo Theater, Kennedy Center and others around the world. On top of running his own record label (Morton Records) and serving as Maroon 5's full-time keyboardist for the past 12+ years, he has collaborated with Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Jon Batiste, Nas, Lil Wayne, JoJo, Yebba, Jill Scott and many others.

In 2024, PJ Morton will become the first Black composer to ever write an original song for a Disney attraction - Tiana's Bayou Adventure, coming soon to Disneyland and Disney World. He will also release an album entirely written, recorded and produced during a 30-day trip across Africa, and publish a new book titled Saturday Night, Sunday Morning. Arriving November 12th via Worthy Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, the memoir sees him recounting and reflecting upon a trailblazing path that continues to defy expectations and straddle the tensions of music and faith, race and culture, expression and identity.

This was by far the best show that I've ever been to! From the venue to every single act, to the ambiance, it was just perfect!! I came for PJ and he did NOT disappoint! I absolutely love him, his band, his set, his passion, his music!! Aaron opened up the show with fire as well!! Great voice, Great music and he's a cutie! Dawn Richard held it down! Hadn't heard any of her music before but she still managed to get me out of my seat! I had an absolute BLAST! Pleeease bring PJ back sooner than later!!! Way to Go DC!

The energy was crazy! Every performer was amazingly talented and the venue was great (except for the weird seating). This crew is definitely one to look out for. Changing the sound and soul of mainstream music.

PJ Morton is a true musician the concert was wonderful!! The Howard Theater needs to work on their sound as the background music overshadowed and did not always allow you to hear the artist clearly.

  • Amazing Introduction the PJ Morton

by PianoPlayaDC on 5/4/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Wednesday night's PJ Morton show was amazing! I'd always heard the name PJ Morton tossed around, but I'd never heard any of his music except "Let Go, Let God," which DeWayne Woods recorded a few years back. The whole show was excellent. I wasn't disappointed with anything. It's now Friday, and I'm still on a PJ "high." Because the show was so great and his writing is so great, yesterday, I went on Amazon's site and purchased all the music he's ever released...and after that, I was sure to get the free "Independently Major" mixtape at a friend's suggestion and the "My First Mind" EP. I'm lovin all that I'm hearing. PJ has a new fan here in DC. Can't wait to see him in concert again. Dawn Richard was very good as well. She looked GREAT and she definitely kept the attention of the audience. When she felt the crowd's attention fizzing, she got it right back up to 10. She was great, and I wish for much success for her.

  • Live Show Killa!!!

by Reprise on 5/4/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

PJ Morton lives up to his reputation as the love show killa!!!! He and his band murdered that stage. Dawn was a pleasant surprise. I didn't know what to expect, but she sounded and looked great. I've come to fall in love with Aaron through his music and his performance only made me love him more.

by Anonymous on 4/9/12Buckhead Theatre - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

If PJ Morton did a concert in Atlanta every weekend, I would be there! The show was amazing! PJ left his heart on the stage and we felt it. It was rewarding and most fulfilling to experience REAL and relevant music LIVE! The band was AWESOME and the background singer left me speechless!!!!! Everything was heartfelt and I was so glad to have experienced such greatness! He deserves his success.

This was my first ever live concert. The music was awesome. PJ Morton had awesome acts. Not to even include that he is a phenomenal artist and motivated everyone there with his powerful message behind the music. I really wish this would have been here in Atlanta another night.... I would be front and center again!!!
