We had never been to an Arena Football game before so I wanted to take my 3 sons. The game itself was ok but I felt the ticket price (~$40 per seat) was excessive for the talent level/entertainment value. What I was most put off by, however, was the excessive advertising both by the play-by-play announcer and especially making us watch commercials on the big screen during breaks in the action. I found that to be extremely offensive given that I had paid well over $250 for tickets, parking and food. For that reason alone I will never spent entertainment dollars again on a Pittsburgh Power game.

  • Power...

by ADropofRaen on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 3 out of 5

It was my first time at a Pittsburgh Power game and, though we didn't win, I was very impressed with the team, and the game itself. I stayed until the very end. It's new to the City, and will take some time to catch on, but it was enjoyable. Some kinks still need to be worked out, though. The haltime event was a great concept - having 8 local college students in teams of 2 competing to win pizza for a year is an awesome idea! What college student DOESN'T eat pizza on a daily basis?- but it was easy to see that this was the first time it had been done, without even a run through before the game. It seemed very unorganized, an amateurish. But all-in-all, I had a nice time. I enjoyed myself, and so did my boyfriend. I'd like arena football to catch on in the City (especially with the possible strike of the NFL). I'd go back and see another game.

  • PITTSBURGH POWER

IT WAS A GREAT WAY TO WATCH FOOTBALL AND THE SHOW WAS EXCELLENT. PARTICULARLY LIKED THE NEW ENERGY CENTER. NOT A BAD SEAT IN THE HOUSE.

  • Pump down the bass

by TomIdioticNNPolicy on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 3 out of 5

The sound system at CONSOL was overtaxed at the Power game on April 2. The bass, reverb and volume setting in that room were too much. And the PA announcer yelling at the top of his lungs into the microphone didn't help much. I do not mind loud things. In fact, I enjoy cranking up the music. But I want crisp, clean sound. This was not the case at the Power game. It detracted from an otherwise enjoyable evening. That and the Power losing of course.

  • Good but could be improved

by GMOLPO on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

The game was fast paced and fun to watch. There is not a bad seat in the house, but because of the huge gap in lower level seats compared to upper level GA the bottom portion of the arena was empty. The half-time show was very poorly planned and there isn't as many vendors open as you would think. Overall good experience and a very family friendly environment for the money.

The experience was awesome. Vacant seats down front certainly made it so real for me and my 8 year old son. Then getting to go on the field after the game for the autograph session was so cool for my son. We really didn't care about autographs, but playing with our little foam football on the field was a memory for sure.

The only thing I didn't like about the whole night was when people were coming down from other spots to get better seats at halftime

  • Very entertaining!

by Anonymous on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

Arena football is entertaining like watching minor league baseball is. It is a step up from high school football, but not the caliber of the NFL.. The Sparks are very pretty, talented ladies. My husband really enjoyed watching them! LOL

  • Pittsburgh Power not so powerful

    by Snooks45 on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

I went with my son and a couple of his friends (all age 12) as well as a friend of mine (age 47). This was our first time being in the new arena as well as seeing arena football. The arena is absolutely beautiful and there truly is not a bad seat in the house. We were in the general admission section 215 and were happy with our view. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh did not win. It was interesting to see the difference between arena and NFL football, but I definitely prefer NFL. It was explained to me prior to going on Saturday and in literature that arena football is meant to be high scoring (sometimes as high as into the 70's for teams), but Saturday's game was not high scoring whatsoever. The boys absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back again.

Game was slower then I expected...the crowd wasn't really into it...the seats at the arena are too close together...and everything is too expensive!

  • Pittsburgh Power was incredible

    by Amyd76 on 4/4/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

Although it was a huge upset, the game was incredible to watch. It was faced paced and our seats were right in the middle of the action. The referee's mic wasn't working properly so I missed a lot of the calls, but it was still an awesome sport to watch. I really hope this catches on. Washington was incredible to watch with his talent and agility. I would definitely go again!!

  • Arena Steel Curtain is here!!

    by Dino214 on 3/25/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 5 out of 5

Just when I thought the first game was good, this one blew it away. We ran the ball for @ least 2 scores, maybe 3. We had 3 or 4 4th down Defensive stops(difficult in arena football) The back-up QB comes in and throws a 40 yd post for a TD. WOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Terrence Carter/Josh Lay--Co-Defensive Players of the YR(there, I said it) Josh Rue(ROOOOOOOOOO)--Definitely leading the team in TD's as of now. Great game. The Green Guy in the stands was a creepy addition(kids loved it though) No Man should wear full body Spandex--EVER!! Haaa! The defense was FANTASTIC!!!! Keep up the good work--Go POWER

  • Fast!!

    by Dino214 on 3/25/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

To be there for the inaugural Season Opener of the Power was special. I've watched a few games on TV and its much faster in person. Its like watching a video game of football. The teams can score in 2 sec flat. You might think its all passing and no running--wrong-The power can do both---FB Josh RUE(aka..ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO) might lead the team in TD's by the end of the season. Or -- No Defense, Yeah right, its pittsburgh Baby, Terrence Carter @ DE and some decent corners. It was unfortunate w/ 12 sec. left, down by 3, people were leaving. Their mistake, We come back, go to OT, but lose by a pick 6. But a Fantastic Game

  • the power was very exciting

  • Fun

    by JWsBride2B on 3/23/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

I thought that the game was great! Awesome venue and good atmosphere. My only complaint would have to be the half time performer and this awful guy dressed in a green spandex suit that was creeping around throughout the night. Overall it was a fun time and we are looking forward to going again and taking friends!

    by meeko08 on 3/22/11CONSOL Energy Center - PittsburghRating: 4 out of 5

This event wasn't too bad. I really enjoyed myself and so did my wife and daughter. The only thing we thought was bad was the food prices...too high! We plan on going again some time soon.

Great night for family and sports lovers. Excitement galore ! Great food at the Arena and there is so much action... They do need to get more shirts...always sold out ??? whats up with that? can't have a blackout without black shirts. The Sparks dance team is incredable! Those girls Rock! Dancer Richelle is the best !
