About

Pink Martini on Tour

A massive collective with a rotating membership that's been active since the early 1990s, Pink Martini are a little orchestra that knows no stylistic bounds. Playing classical and jazz, Latin and pop, what threads their performances together is a lighthearted, jazzy vibe that basically demands you move along with it. Pink Martini have performed with over 50 orchestras in cities around the world, from the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony to the BBC Concert Orchestra. Their first live breakthrough came at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997, while their orchestral debut came in 1998 with the Oregon Symphony. The ensemble played several New Year's Eve concerts at L.A.'s Walt Disney Concert Hall across the 2000s and early 2010s, and they've performed multiple sold-out concerts at New York's Carnegie Hall. Their live performance at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall in Portland, Oregon, was aired live on NPR and eventually released in 2009 as a live CD/DVD called Discover the World. The group have also graced late-night talk show stages, including Conan O'Brien, David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Pink Martini in Concert

Started by pianist Thomas Lauderdale in Portland, Oregon, in 1994 as an alternative to the event-based ensembles he'd grown tired of playing in, Pink Martini quickly attracted hugely talented musicians like China Forbes and Storm Large. Their first album, Sympathique, charted in Belgium, France and Switzerland and was certified gold in Greece, while the album's eponymous single was nominated for Song of the Year at France's Victoires de la Musique awards. Pink Martini's 2004 sophomore album, Hang On Little Tomato, charted at No. 25 on the U.S. Billboard 200, and went 2x platinum in France, also earning gold status in Canada, Germany and Greece. The group has released numerous lauded albums since, including their hugely popular A Retrospective in 2011, which contained 21 tracks from their career and charted at No. 7 on U.S. Billboard's Top Jazz Albums.

Amazing, but a bit too short

by Pink Martini Fan on 8/30/23

Pink Martini are great but it felt they didn't spend as much time on stage as I was hoping for.

Pink Martini Great; Concert Venue Not So Much

    by Roger on 8/30/23

Music was great. The Chateau St. Michelle venue desperately needs better signage. Had to wonder all over the place asking about water, wine, etc. Like a lot of easy money businesses they are not looking after their customers.

Another epic performance from Pink Martini!

    by Lavndrgrl on 8/30/23

Pink Martini is always fantastic! I do wish that the venue did a better job with there "Lawn Seating"as it's mostly taken up by assigned seats and GA is limited to the wings and it's super crowded.

    Great show - crappy parking.

    by LAG on 8/30/23

Wonderful show from Pink Martini - no complaints at all. However, the venue changed their parking policy this year with no warning. If you weren't sharp eyed (like me), you would miss the "extra"ticketing option to pre-pay for parking, which quickly becomes sold out. Although we arrived very early to try to get the parking available on the day of, it apparently sold out in 30 minutes. Really. So, the option was to park across the street for $50 or drive a half mile away, pay $20 and take a shuttle. We opted to park in a private lot - never saw any signs for the other venue parking lot. What a mess. Won't be attending any concerts at Chateau Ste Michelle next summer for sure.

    So Much Fun!

    by LePetitOiseau on 8/7/23

I’ve been a fan of Pink Martini for years, but never had the chance to see them live and still had to travel to the San Diego show at Humphrey’s by the Bay, but they were so worth it! I made sure to go when China Forbes headlined, as she does not perform at every show. Tickets for good seats were super reasonable after shelling out for the TS fiasco. The only caveat was the band didn’t play my friend’s favorite, ‘Hang on, Little Tomato’, but hey… there was the famous conga dance line at the end. Fun! Make sure to book seats close to the aisle if you’re up for dancing. Thomas likes to shout out for dance contests.

Band A+ Venue A+ Crowd wtf

by An avid concert goer on 8/6/23

This is my favorite summer venue and the music, setup and service from every staff member was impeccable as usual. However. I have never seen a more entitled, rude and nasty crowd. As entertaining as all of that was to watch, I’d hope people remember how to have fun and interact as if the show is not only for their personal enjoyment. Weirdest thing I’ve seen in AGES.

Best concert, best NYC summer venue

    by HH on 8/6/23

Pink Martini is always fun, always a surprise and a crowd pleaser. Spotting a singer of a famous song in the audience and calling her up to sing together- only in NYC and Pink Martini! Pier 17 is simply the best summer venue, Brooklyn bridge and lower Manhattan skyline as your backdrop.

    Great performers

    by Katherine on 8/5/23

First time seeing Pink Martini and they did not disappoint!!! Cannot wait for their next NYC concert. The seating of the venue, however, left a lot to be desired. Plastic chairs bound together by plastic ties; downright embarrassing for Pier 17.

    Fabulous Pink Martini!

    by Fan on 8/5/23

What a great night! Pink Martini, a beautiful night on the river with a super moon, too! They always put on a wonderful show! I loved Thomas giving an album to the oldest person in the audience - the man had tears in his eyes :) I’m sorry Ari wasn’t singing that night - but everyone was terrific & I love China! Thanks, Pink Martini!!

    Magical Musical Night!

    by Skipper on 8/5/23

Perhaps the best concert Ive ever been to. Having the Brooklyn Bridge as a back drop is enough but add Pink Martini to the mix and you're in for an incredible experience. Hearing Pink Martini in recordings is ok but seeing them live is incredible. The talent on that stage was outstanding. The energy is infectious and the crisp sounds were delightful. I can't wait for their next concert !

    Best Performance Under the Stars!

    by Juan-Carlos on 8/5/23

We saw Pink Martini at Pier 17, outside on a spectacular night. I can only describe the performance as magical. The lead singer’s hauntingly beautiful voice, the band playing great lounge music inspired by Latin music and other genres, the dancing and everything else. Truly a wonderful experience!

    by Deana C on 8/5/23

My husband loves this band so I bought tickets. It was very enjoyable and entertaining. We even got a surprise performance by someone in the audience- Patti LaBelle sang Lady Marmalade! Only wish they sang Que Sera Sera. 😒
