Combining elements of new wave, disco, and indie rock, French alt rock outfit Phoenix is arguably one of the most creative forces in contemporary pop music. After 2009’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix took home the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, the band followed up in 2013 with Bankrupt!, their fifth album and most successful release to date. Building on the catchy synthpop of its predecessor and buoyed by infectious singles “Entertainment” and “Trying to Be Cool,” Bankrupt! reached No.1 on the US Alternative Albums, Independent Albums, and Rock Albums charts, marking a first for the band. Formed in the suburbs of Paris in the mid-‘90s, Phoenix scored a breakthrough hit with “If I Ever Feel Better” from their 2000 debut United, paving the way for the mainstream success of sophomore album Alphabetical in 2004. On tour in 2013, the band have been keeping ticket buyers moving with their danceable live sets, earning a reputation as one of the most entertaining live concerts of the year.
This was my second time seeing Phoenix live; but my first time at the Southside Ballroom. Phoenix is one of the best bands to witness live; but the venue helps the experience become a better one, with great sound, lighting and overall facilities.
Started off the concert super strong and kept the energy up throughout, the set design and light production was artistic in concept and execution. One of the best shows I've ever seen.
The entire concert seemed extremely long because of the two openers before the main performance.
Phoenix is an amazing live band. Love their songs and their stage presence. The seats were great, but everyone ended up standing and rushing the floor (luckily we got there first ). The seats on the sides of the venue can't see the stage fully. The back of the stage where the screen was could not be seen from my location, but luckily we could see the entire band. Would love to come to the Youtube Theatre again, the audio was great!!!
Phoenix was amazing! They put on such a good performance and the visuals were amazing!
I have been a fan of theirs since 2000. Songs like "If I ever feel better," "Everything is everything," etc. But the new music is not good. It is generic dance pop like you might hear in Ibiza. They don't even seem to be that into it when they're playing it. Maybe Gen Z will like this new stuff? But I hated it.
Phoenix always plays an outstanding setlist. They look and sound phenomenal, consistently! Their style and musical arrangement and choices of songs are all super entertaining. Thomas Mars and guys are the best! Come back to the Bay area we love you!
Of course their songs are great; sophisticated pop rock—but the stage/light show was pop art madness, mixing stock footage, low art with gaudy art, taking the piss out of everything, and even some playful storytelling, if this tour comes near you, go!
Second time seeing Phoenix, first time outside of a festival. Greek Theatre was awesome! Had an absolute blast listening to some of their greatest hits and loved the new songs as well. Overly excited for the new album!

This concert was everything! Pheonix was phenomenal. The energy, quality of talent, and spectacular light show! Those guys were a complete thrill and the whole group of us are their latest super fans! Don’t miss this show! Porches is awesome too

Saw them almost 10 years. They sound better than ever. Solid visuals. Added a keys player? Energy was high, crowd was feeling the love.

Was bummed I waited too late to get tic to see YYYs at the Hollywood Bowl but was happy to see Phoenix playing the same night. I hadn’t seen them before and I’m so glad I went because it was so much fun. Just non-stop bangers, the band was on point, the lights and graphics were incredible. Didn’t want it to end. The Sofi Stadium campus is great and really great views from every vantage point at the YouTube Theatre as well.
Phoenix always knows how to throw a good concert. They never disappoint! Amazing experience, amazing energy, amazing atmosphere. LOVE PHOENIX.
i got there early and parking was a breeze. staff were great. food trucks were good. venue was clean and so was the bathrooms. the sound was great too.
They put on a PERFORMANCE. It was so well executed with the curtains and the lighting, I loved it so much!! We got to hear their new unreleased songs and it was so amazing. At the end Thomas went through the crowd and a security guard said he’d never seen that happen in all his years of working there. Phoenix is a legendary band!
