Combining elements of new wave, disco, and indie rock, French alt rock outfit Phoenix is arguably one of the most creative forces in contemporary pop music. After 2009’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix took home the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album, the band followed up in 2013 with Bankrupt!, their fifth album and most successful release to date. Building on the catchy synthpop of its predecessor and buoyed by infectious singles “Entertainment” and “Trying to Be Cool,” Bankrupt! reached No.1 on the US Alternative Albums, Independent Albums, and Rock Albums charts, marking a first for the band. Formed in the suburbs of Paris in the mid-‘90s, Phoenix scored a breakthrough hit with “If I Ever Feel Better” from their 2000 debut United, paving the way for the mainstream success of sophomore album Alphabetical in 2004. On tour in 2013, the band have been keeping ticket buyers moving with their danceable live sets, earning a reputation as one of the most entertaining live concerts of the year.
everyone got into it- all loving phoenix. awesome!
this was my first phoenix concert, but i've been a fan of them for years. they surpassed my expectations and i am so happy that i was able to go! planning on seeing them again at rumsey playfield come september!
One of the best live bands I've seen! I would definitely see them if you get the oppurtunity.
Never saw them live before but loved the album. One of the best shows I have seen in the last 5 years for certain. Bought tickets for the Central park show the day they went on sale. Can't wait to see them again.
Phoenix is an excellent live band. However I feel the small crowd at the show at Music Hall Of Williamsburg the night before, had much more energy, and the band gave a much better performance because of it. The main reason I went a 2nd night was to see the opening act Amazing Baby, who were outstanding!
