The show is great but the bands do not sound loud enough in the upper levels of the hall. Boardwalk Hall needs to use some kind of microphone system so the music can be heard in the upper levels.
Been going to this show for about 15 years. Used to take my Dad when he was living. He used to perform in the show about 45 years ago with different bands (Trilby & Dick Crean) & I remember as a child being there. Now I go alone, since none of my friends/family are really into the show. Guess it's in my blood. The bands really put their all into it, and it makes you appreciate it even more. I know there's alot of hard work put into it. Of course I enjoyed the top 5 bands the most, but my favorite was Fralinger. For some reason it was the only band that gave me the goose bumps. The music was beautiful. Surprised they only came in 5th. The only disappointment in the 3 hours that I spent there, was the establishment could have turned up the heat alittle higher.
I ESPECIALLY LIKED THEIR COLORFUL UNIFORMS THAT THEY WORE. THE MICHELIN MAN WAS THERE TOO AND GAVE EVERY ONE A LAUGH. THEY ALSO HAD SPARKEE AND THE WHOLE FIRE FIGHTERS THERE TOO. WHAT A DEAL. I ALSO ENJOYED ALL THE CONFETTI AND STREAMERS THAT WERE THROWN AND BLOWN DURING THE SHOW.
Really enjoyed the string band performances ..... the lighting was not the best ... the floor should be bathed in spotlights and not be lit using the overhead lights ... really takes away from the performance ... Steve Highsmith is excellent as the emcee ....
The sights and sounds were extraordinary. It is like seeing 16 mini-shows in one day! Each is different and unique - and they are all a ton of fun! How many shows does anyone get to see where the performers go out of their way to interact with the crowd, pose for photo, etc. Absolutely great for families! Great music for the adults, great costumes for the kids!
WOW, WOW, WOW, LOVE THE MUMMERS! I HOPE THEY CONTINUE TO SHOWCASE THEMSELVES EVERY YEAR AT THE BOARDWALK HALL IN ATLANTIC CITY.
Show was excellent, all bands were good, Glad Im not a judge although I believe the judges got it right this year as each band got better and better. Took my brother and his wife. He was in Greater Bucks String Band years ago. He did tear up of the memories. Next year my sisters will be attending as well for a reunion with this event being one of the hi lites.
The seating was a little tight, but otherwise had a great time!
