Philadelphia 76ers History

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the league's first franchises. Founded in 1946 and playing their first NBA season in 1949, the team was introduced as the Syracuse Nationals and played home games in upstate New York.

After moving to Philadelphia in 1963 and adopting the 76ers moniker in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the city in 1776, the team has had a prominent history featuring several players who would go on to be inducted into the Pro Basketball Hall of Fame: Dolph Schayes, Hal Greer, Wilt Chamberlain, Billy Cunningham, Bobby Jones, Julius Erving, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Charles Barkley, and Allen Iverson.

The 76ers have made 54 playoff appearances and earned nine trips to the NBA Finals, winning three national championships. Chamberlain, Erving, Malone, Iverson and Joel Embiid have all also been named the NBA Most Valuable Player while playing for the 76ers, for a total of seven MVP awards. In 2024, Tyrese Maxey collected the franchise’s second Most Improved Player Award after Dana Barros in 1995.

The Philadelphia 76ers organization is part of the Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment ownership group.

  • Best game of the year!

by Tara on 3/4/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Game was a nail biter, I still can't believe the Warriors lost! FYI doors open 90 mins before start of the game if you're a season ticket holder, if you're a regular peasant, it's 60 mins where if you are lined up early to get in will be yelled at by event staff to back up and let the royalty through. We did nothing if the sort. I had got in line at 545p to see Steph Curry, the wind chill was insane and it was an 8p start. Never a dull moment at Wells Fargo Center!

  • Fantastic

Amazing experience seeing the NBA in Philadelphia, what more can I add. Tickets are expensive but great entertainment.

  • It was good, but they lost!

by CEC on 2/8/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed this experience and the seats were good. Not enough restrooms and food is too expensive – yes I know it’s expensive everywhere, but I still say so. They lost, but more than that their two biggest stars didn’t play. For that we can feel cheated.

  • Great game

Great game, seats and entertainment. Staff were very friendly and professional.

  • Great seats, great atmosphere, great outcome

by Terry on 2/5/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Seats were exactly as advertised. Payment, ticketing, and admission the the venue went smoothly. High energy environment for the Sixers facing a traditional rival in the Celtics. Exciting end to the game for me … with a Celtics W :-).

  • Awesome time.

by Eddie on 2/5/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

The whole process was smooth, and I had great seats. Too bad the Sixers lost but, I would do it again.

  • Great seats.

Had a blast except the Sixers lost. Would do it again for sure.

  • Sixers Vs Nuggets 1-31-25

by Kwills on 2/3/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing experience. And a great game. Game came down to the wire. And the seats I had were great and were a reasonable price.

  • Great game / bad seats

by Rita on 1/27/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

I got my husband tickets to the Friday night sixers vs cavaliers! It was a great game but the seats were terrible. While we were close enough to see the players and they could hear us lol the seats on row 1 were directly behind the floor seats and you could barely see the game going up and down the court. I had to sit on the top of the seat most of the game which was incredibly uncomfortable. For the price of the tickets I feel like my experience wasn’t worth it especially for a birthday gift. Next time I know to at least get row 3 center. It would made the difference to pay an extra couple hundred bucks.

  • It Was Alright

by Satisfied on 1/27/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

The 76"s played hard and won the game. However, the Wells Fargo Center was a mess with trash and food everywhere. It was like sitting in a trash bin.

  • Great stadium to watch basketball games

by Mike on 1/20/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Had a great experience watching an nba game here. Parking was not complicated and it was easy to get around the arena. The view was great even though we sat way up there.

  • Fun experience

by Dave on 1/19/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

I had a great time at the game. First nba game for me and it was a blast. Venue was super helpful with entry and had great food

  • Very fan friendly crowd

    by Fasteddie9 on 1/18/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Excellent experience kool fan friendly crowd and I'm a Knicks fan would definitely do again

  • Wells Fargo Arena

by Vigilant Transport Services on 1/18/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first time at the arena to see the New York Knicks play the Philadelphia 76ers. Our seats with center Court 16th row and I purchased a parking pass for $25 as well. The arena was very easy getting into the parking area and the short walk into the arena. I found the arena to be not overwhelming in that or the concessions were right when you walked in and easily accessible. There was a good vibe with the music and the fan interaction during the game. I would definitely return to Wells Fargo arena in the future.

  • Bad seats, not together as shown when purchased

by Father and son on 1/15/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 1 out of 5

Our seats were not together there was a fence separating my son and I it did not give us very good father son time because we were basically each sitting alone I wish this would have been told to me beforehand but it said nothing when I purchased the tickets when I purchased the tickets it showed that they were together seats, buyer beware

  • Worst seats ever, 112 row 1

by John O on 1/13/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

Even though the sixers lost that wasn't the most disappointing part of the evening. The seats were the absolute worst to see the game. The floor seats blocked the view of those in section 112 row 1.

  • Nice experience bad product

by Tweb on 1/13/25Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 4 out of 5

Seats were ok except for the Sixers dancers obstructing our view quite frequently

  • Awsome

by VAZEA on 12/29/24Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 5 out of 5

Best NBA game ever! Had a great time with my family all the way from PR

  • Everything was great except…

by Brad on 12/23/24Wells Fargo Center - PhiladelphiaRating: 3 out of 5

We had a great time once we got into the game. Moving from 95 to the parking lot took 70 minutes and we missed the whole first half. Venue was fun!
