About

Phil Collins in Concert

Born in West London in 1951, Phil Collins started playing drums at the age of five. His musical career began in earnest when he joined Genesis as a drummer in 1970, later becoming the group's lead vocalist in 1975 when Peter Gabriel departed. In 1981, he launched his solo career, releasing a string of pop albums that catapulted him to the immense profile he enjoys today. Phil Collins has released eight studio albums over the course of his solo career, along with three compilations, two soundtracks and more than forty singles. Of Collins' many releases, his third studio album, No Jacket Required, secured his greatest acclaim. It features notable tracks like "Sussudio" and "One More Night," both of which have received countless pop-culture references throughout the years. Collins is one of the legends of the 1970s and 1980s, a member of the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Modern Drummer Hall Of Fame and a musical influence to later musicians like Mike Portnoy, Taylor Hawkins, Nick D'Virgilio and many others.

Former Genesis member Phil Collins has achieved a level of solo success few others can claim. Collins' tour dates, such as his 2017 Not Dead Yet Tour, have seen him travel the United Kingdom. Other tours, like his 1997 The Trip Into The Light Of The World Tour, his 1985 No Jacket Required Tour, and 1983 Hello, I Must Be Going Tour, have taken him throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. As a solo act, Phil Collins is praised for his brilliant Pop songwriting, laced with elements from the other genres in which he's fluent like jazz, rock and fusion. His strong vocals, intricate drum parts and generous use of 1980s-style keyboard synths add to the richness of his sound. In concert, audiences can marvel as Collins sits majestically, belting out hits while his large band provides ample accompaniment. Collins' son Nicholas is often present, dazzling crowds with drumming just as impressive as his father's. Phil Collins' music has garnered impressive numbers. His albums have sold more than 150 million units worldwide. He's been nominated for more than 20 Grammy Awards. He's won 7 Grammys, along with various American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards (and more) as he continues to record and perform across the globe.

In 2015, Collins remastered his eight solo albums with previously unreleased material and came out of retirement. In 2017, he started The Not Dead Yet Tour, named after his autobiography released in 2016. After many tour legs around the world, Collins is coming back to the U.S. for 15 dates.

    Definitely NOT DEAD!!!!!!

by Jeric on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Phil Collins maybe frail looking- but his voice is STILL AMAZING!!!! Chase Center is touted to be a state of the art concert venue. But the sound system lacks the vibrant, robust over all sound of say a Staples Center, Levi’s stadium or even a SAP Center.

    Fun night

by D. on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Phil Collins looks a little run over, but he can still sing. Great band. You have to listen to his silly promotion of CNN and his hatred of Trump. But otherwise a fun performance.

    living legend

by LABOYNATAYO on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

It was nice to see a legends concert, my heart felt sad the first he comes to the stage, hearing the high notes that he cant reach no more. But we love him, as the concert goes on i felt happiness to see. Thank you idol

Phil was amazing, but there were cables obstructing my view

    by P. B. on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I was in section 109 and there was a large bundle of cables hanging from the ceiling, down to the sound board, obstructing part of my view. Very distracting.

    Same old Phil show

    by T. B. on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Seeing that pc has done nothing new for years, this is a similar show to the one I saw him do about 15 years ago when he first announced he was retiring. Same band with a few changes. Chester Thompson is gone replaced by Phil’s son who is ok, but he’s not yet in the caliber of great drummers. Overall, good show if you’ve never seen him before, but nothing new.

Phil and his band were great! Their music filled the arena

by Bonnie on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I was unhappy I was not told I couldn't take beverages from the Beergarden into the arena prior to spending $30.00 for two small cans of wine. There should be a big sign stating that information. Because my cellphone died, I could not bring up my tickets. It took the person at the desk quite some time to be able to print tickets out so I could get inside to use the phone charging station. I was lucky. There was a phone charging cube available for me. I think there need to be more charging stations and at least one outside accessible to your patrons.

    Brilliant as ever!

by Petra on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I have been following Phil for over thirty years, my entire adult life...the show was amazing. I was very impressed with the large screen that I handed the experience with days and shows gone by...it was like living them all over again. I never get enough of Phil and his wonderful band. Love them all! Thank you for coming out Phil, bless you!!❤️🎼🙏

    Phil Collins

    by F. H. on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Phil had a hard time moving around the stage, so a lot less energy than past concerts. Was nice to see the new Chase Center.

    Phil Collins was amazing

    by T. L. on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Phil Collins has a classic timeless voice with an amazingly talented son Nick playing drums for him. Excellent band and such an overall fun show. Was so sad when it was over! Worth every penny!

    Best show ever

by Lulu on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Phil Collins was unbelievable best show I’ve ever been too. His voice is still very strong like he is still “43”. His son was incredible! Love the show I’m glad my daughters bought me these tickets for my birthday. I hope this is not the last tour.

    Great show! Horrible Venue

by Shelly Y on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Love Phil Collins, he has always been a favorite. His voice has definitely changed and he does not look well, but we still enjoyed the show. The Chase Center is ridiculous!! Lack of Public Transportation and affordable parking will deter me from coming back. With the cost of tickets, adding another $100 just to get there makes it out of reach for most people. The Center is very confusing as far as finding your seat, etc. It is beautiful, but not "User Friendly" I will opt for Sacramento, San Jose, or Concord next time.

    Awesome

by A.P on 10/20/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I was dying to see this venue so when Phil Collins was added I just had to go. I didn’t know that we had to order tickets off the Ticketmaster app and at first I was a little skeptical but I thought let’s just try it and we got Front Row!! Two ushers who were in front of us were awesome! At the end of the night they managed to bring over a back up singer to meet us! So awesome!! I got a setlist and it was overall the best show I’d ever been to! If anytime there is an artist that I like that will be there I am gonna go!
