About

Phil Collins in Concert

Born in West London in 1951, Phil Collins started playing drums at the age of five. His musical career began in earnest when he joined Genesis as a drummer in 1970, later becoming the group's lead vocalist in 1975 when Peter Gabriel departed. In 1981, he launched his solo career, releasing a string of pop albums that catapulted him to the immense profile he enjoys today. Phil Collins has released eight studio albums over the course of his solo career, along with three compilations, two soundtracks and more than forty singles. Of Collins' many releases, his third studio album, No Jacket Required, secured his greatest acclaim. It features notable tracks like "Sussudio" and "One More Night," both of which have received countless pop-culture references throughout the years. Collins is one of the legends of the 1970s and 1980s, a member of the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Modern Drummer Hall Of Fame and a musical influence to later musicians like Mike Portnoy, Taylor Hawkins, Nick D'Virgilio and many others.

Former Genesis member Phil Collins has achieved a level of solo success few others can claim. Collins' tour dates, such as his 2017 Not Dead Yet Tour, have seen him travel the United Kingdom. Other tours, like his 1997 The Trip Into The Light Of The World Tour, his 1985 No Jacket Required Tour, and 1983 Hello, I Must Be Going Tour, have taken him throughout Europe, North America, Asia and Oceania. As a solo act, Phil Collins is praised for his brilliant Pop songwriting, laced with elements from the other genres in which he's fluent like jazz, rock and fusion. His strong vocals, intricate drum parts and generous use of 1980s-style keyboard synths add to the richness of his sound. In concert, audiences can marvel as Collins sits majestically, belting out hits while his large band provides ample accompaniment. Collins' son Nicholas is often present, dazzling crowds with drumming just as impressive as his father's. Phil Collins' music has garnered impressive numbers. His albums have sold more than 150 million units worldwide. He's been nominated for more than 20 Grammy Awards. He's won 7 Grammys, along with various American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Brit Awards (and more) as he continues to record and perform across the globe.

In 2015, Collins remastered his eight solo albums with previously unreleased material and came out of retirement. In 2017, he started The Not Dead Yet Tour, named after his autobiography released in 2016. After many tour legs around the world, Collins is coming back to the U.S. for 15 dates.

    AMAZING

by Bekajer on 10/30/19Talking Stick Resort Arena - Phoenix

This concert was amazing. It has been a dream of mine to see Phil in Concert for almost 40 years. The Still not Dead Concert checked all the boxes for me. I was overcome with emotion seeing Phil up on the stage. I sang, laughed, and cried along to all of the songs. Even sitting down Phil held the sold out arena in the palm of his hand. The entire band was incredible and they performed like a tight knit group of friends. Phil's son Nick on the drums was amazing. I hope that this will not be the last time I get to see one of my childhood heroes live.

    AWESOME SHOW!!

by TCP on 10/28/19Talking Stick Resort Arena - Phoenix

Love, Love, Love Phil Collins. While he can't play the drums now, and sits during the concert, his voice is nearly impeccable. There was laughter, funny moments, lots of fan participation and his son Nicolas is a fabulous drummer, taking after his Dad. I'm so glad I go to see and experience this show!!

    Just Like Yesterday

by Pw on 10/28/19Talking Stick Resort Arena - Phoenix

The concert was outstanding. I took my daughter with me. She grew up listening to Phil Collins. I wondered who would play the drums for "In The Air Tonight". it was amazing to see his son on the drums.

    Great Concert!!

by ReneeB77 on 10/27/19CHI Health Center Omaha - Omaha

I bought these tickets for my husband as an early birthday gift and it was well worth it. It was on his bucket list to go to a Phil Collins concert and now he can cross it off. Luckily we made it to this concert because as of now, he is retired. So glad we got to go to one of his last. We will always remember it.

    Great concert! Loved Phil

by Wnybby on 10/27/19Talking Stick Resort Arena - Phoenix

I really enjoyed the evening! Well over two hours of great music and entertainment. My only complaint would be I wish the Jumbotron’s were up a little higher for better view. Fill in the band did a great job bringing back all of my memories with these great songs. Thank you for a great evening

    Phil Collins Concert Review

by jcw on 10/24/19American Airlines Center - Dallas

Loved seeing Phil Collins one more time! His son was fantastic on the drums-we just missed seeing Phil play the drums like before. Gosh getting older is hard. Appreciate him coming back for one more great concert! I would have liked to purchase a shirt, but the merchandise prices have increased soooo much, it's not worth it.

Phil not dead but the stadium seats are.

by Om I K on 10/23/19Chase Center - San Francisco

I purchased the seats months before in a stadium that was under construction. I relied on the website to help me pick seats that I felt would be good. I am sorry to say, that I was wrong on many levels. The very new Chase center in San Francisco is beautiful and the venue is well organized when it came to getting the guests to their seats. But overall, the seats sucked. Typical uncomfortable no leg room hard forward facing basketball arena seating. I wish i had known this before i purchased them. BEcause the arena was under construction at the time, there were no aids in layout to help you select the seats, so i relied on the ticketmaster to guide me. Ticketmaster advised me that the actual printed tickets that I paid for would not be available for several months because the construction wouldn't be completed until then. I finally received my tickets a few weeks prior to the event and was glad i had reservations for hotel and plane flights already in place as this was a destination concert. The communication on local transportation was excellent from Chase and I took advantage of the public transportation advantages. Here is where the problem I had is significant....Entering the arena was easy. Direction to the seats by staff was easy. The seats themselves SUCKED. They were located at the very top of the tiers rows, and obstructed by hanging paraphanalia from the ceiling that was directly over the stage. We might as well have been behind the stage. THe seats were (as the arena attendant told us) 6 floors up. And straight up they were. There were two couples who required medical equipment trying to hold on to railing and climb the steep stairs in a dimly lit stairway to find the seats that were squeezed tightly together. If you had a seat that was more than 3 or 4 seats in, everybody must stand up and let people in and out, which really was distracting during the show. The people passing in front, or behind you with drinks or food made it difficult because there is no legroom. The worst was that, your obstructed, super high, 90 degree angle to the stage, hard, no leg or foot room seat did not even have a Big Screen anywhere that you could see anything that was happening on stage. There were three screens, but each one was pointed directly forward somewhere on the first floor. Not to be seen from anywhere we were seated. Needless to say, For the amount of money i spent for the experience, the seats in this venue might be ok for basketball, but never for a performer or concert. Oh, by the way, Phil and his crew.... your sound was great....so glad because we couldnt see you!!!!

Restrooms issues at Chase Center needs attention.

by Joel on 10/23/19Chase Center - San Francisco

They open the Center one hour before the concert. People were in line for hours to use the only restrooms outside the Center. Very sorry for all the women who begged to share and use the men’s restrooms since they can’t hold any longer. They open this venue in a hurry. Construction are not even done yet. They made it look nice in pictures and on TV.

    Phil the Great

by Babs on 10/23/19Pepsi Center - Denver

Phil Collins was the best concert. I was a little leary at first about the fact that he was sitting all night that he couldn't sing but was wrong. Certainly he doesn't have the range he used to but he still sounds great. The concert was uplifting and very well put together. Glad I got to see him.

    Stockton Group

    by B. L. on 10/22/19Chase Center - San Francisco

Loved Phil. Great concert. Disappointed with Chase Center. Tripped on cup holder in front of my seat. They are located too close to seat. Not enough room to safely walk in or out of aisles. Staircases too narrow. Not enough room for people going up & down at same time. Lighting for staircases & aisles dim & unsafe. Did not like ordering & checkout concession stations. Very impersonal. Liked Center very modern & slick looking.

This was an awesome show. It was our second visit to the Chase Center and have had an awesome experience both times. The food and beverage as well as the entrance lines moved so quickly and the staff is friendly and helpful.
