  • Fantastic voices and raw talent

    by goolie99 on 12/27/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

These 5 are absolutely amazing. All incredibly talented in their own right, but as a group it comes together perfectly...the 3 voices, the thumping bass and the FREAKIN OUT OF THIS WORLD Beatbox makes the perfect balance. In general I love these guys and highly recommend them and their pure, raw talent. The only reason for 4 starts vs. 5 stars is a) they did seem a tad tired, not that I blame them - they are on a crazy busy tour, and b) the venue itself did not lend for the best acoustics. So the sound did not measure up to watching them on TV or Youtube. That said, it was an amazing and entertaining show and I would go again and again!

  • Pentatonix rocked it!

    by LHN1995 on 12/24/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

They delivered as they always do. So happy for this group's success. They could have easily filled a bigger venue. Can't wait to see them the next time they come thru town. Bought both CD's and waiting for more. So adore their talent and personalities.

  • PTX rocked it!

    by Grover422 on 12/21/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I was very impressed with the Pentatonix show. Not only was everyone singing well (that isn't always the case near the end of a tour with tired voices), but their energy was great too. It was also great to see them in such an intimate venue. They were very connected with their audience (except for the crazy 13 year old girl near the front) and made us feel like we were great friends. My only disappointment is I wanted to hear more of their Christmas music.

  • by Anonymous on 12/21/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Pentatonix is so talented! Amazing show...great energy.

  • Pentatonix was Amazing!

by dscuby on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

The energy of the performance was through the roof. Avi and Kevin killed it and brought down the house. Scott, Kirstie, and Mitch gave a riveting performance and rocked the Aladdin. Everyone was on their feet and dancing - PARTY! Excellent performance.

  • Acca-awesome!

by Hahafresh on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the sing off champs on TV- live was that much better! They really create a beautiful experience together. And I love that they are a little silly too!

  • Pentatonix was fabulous!

by Anonymous on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

It was general admissions so we got there really early to stand in line. It was cold outside and standing out there for that long was no fun, but that's really my only complaint. The performance it self was amazing. They sound just as good.live as they do on recordings.

  • Pentatonix Rocks!

by ptxfriends on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

If you love good vocals, Pentatonix is all you need to hear! Loved the whole thing beginning to end. The blends, the beatboxing...it all rocked. Scott can sing anything and make it sound good, the harmony is amazing and Avi's bass plus Kevin's incredible sounds are a perfect blend. LOVE PENTATONIX!!!! THEY ROCKED it. If there was any negative it was that there were a few times they had the mics so close to their mouths it was hard to understand their words. (mitch esp) I'd listen to them in anywhere, in a box or in a chair, with a fox or with a bear...I'd listen to them anywhere! In a tree or by the sea...you get the picture :). Dog Days and the songs they did on Sing-Off were awesome to hear in person, but the newer stuff was awesome too. Great concert. Just wish it could have been longer! Also loved that they were so open and still happy to be doing what they love, just being themselves.

  • Pentatonix Blew-it-UP!

by waiverider on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

They were absolutely fantastic, They had amazing energy and genuinely seemed to really enjoyed performing for our crowd in Portland. They also had a great '"between song "show that was fun and kept the crowd going. There were other members from the Sing-Off groups On the Rocks and Deliah there too so it shows how much support they have in the a Capella community. I would see them live any time I get the chance. They did all the best numbers from the Sing-Off and several off there EP PTX Vol 1. Although only one holiday song (Angels We Have Heard on HIgh). Since we were only a week from Christmas would have been even more fun to hear a few more of the Christmas tunes. But no complaints as all the songs were great to hear.

  • Big disappointment

by PqPq on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 1 out of 5

I enjoyed Sing-off and was really looking forward to hearing the winners of season 3. However, instead of the quality, close harmony music I was expecting, I got an EXTRA LOUD noise that was hard to enjoy.

  • Pentatonix: Incredible Live!!!

by Anonymous on 12/20/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Such incredible talent in just five individuals is worth seeing over and over. Would recommend to anyone who is passionate about great music and loves creative, out-of-the-box experiences. Loved the intimate venue as well! Great job everyone! :)

  • by Anonymous on 12/13/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The venue, artist, and overall experience was amazing! I live in Baltimore and made the trip to DC on a Wednesday night and it was well worth the travel! I would go to Howard theater again AND I would go see Pentatonix again in a heartbeat! :)

  • Pentatonix comes to T.O.

by ZzmanzZ on 12/11/12The Phoenix Concert Theatre - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing concert, likely the best concert I have ever seen. Great sound, engaged the audice and had a lot of fun. A bit of a wait until they came on stage, but work the wait. I would go see them anything, can't wait for them to come back!

  • I felt like a little kid, I loved it so much!

    by Sarahej77 on 12/10/12Variety Playhouse - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

They sound just like they do on TV and their records. They were very personable and interactive. I loved it and am sad they don't have another stop in Atlanta or surrounding states for their tour next year. Would recommend anyone go see them, you won't be disappointed.

  • Wanted to hear singing, not a rock concert

    by Craig1838 on 12/9/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 2 out of 5

Went with a group of friends (6), all acapella singers. I went expecting to be able to hear five great voices together. But the amplification was WAY overdone. Oppressively so. They are all SO talented. It's a shame that talent couldn't be appreciated because of the volume. And their producer was supposedly running sound. Unbelievable. Overall, I was disappointed because of this fact alone. Great people, great venue, poorly produced performance, in my opinion.

  • A. May. Zing.

by Rhienne on 12/7/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

If you've only seen Pentatonix on TV or YouTube, you really have no idea. Their energy and talent is even more apparent in their live shows. The production values are low - it's not a lights and pyrotechnics performance - but their vocals are so on point you won't miss it. The set included favorites from The Sing Off, tracks from the PTX Volume 1 EP as well as a tune or two from the new Christmas album. Angels We Have Heard On High was a particular highlight with Avi actually singing a verse with his beautiful bass. Mitch's solo on Dog Days Are Over was crystal clear and dead on pitch. Scott, Kirstie and Kevin all had their own fantastic moments as well. It says a lot that with a group of five, there's no weak links. Everyone works just as hard and has their fair share of the spotlight. They were onstage non-stop for an hour and a half with just as much energy on the encore as the opening number. A fantastic show.

  • Pentatonix are out of this world

    by Drowsy888 on 12/7/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

You need to see them live to understand how absurdly awesome their dubstep acappella is. I highly recommend it.

  • simply amazing

by Anonymous on 12/7/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

This group has not been together long, so I was impressed that they already put on such an awesome all-around show. I was pleasantly surprised at the length - they have a lot of material already, and all of it is tight. They are great performers and know how to work the crowd and get them involved. Plus, the vocal fireworks are incredible. The crowd was obviously made up almost entirely of a cappella and choir geeks, so it was an instant love-fest going both ways. One of my favorite concerts that I've been to in a long time. The opening act was not well-suited to them - a solo singer-songwriter with a guitar who played mostly slow songs. The music was fine - it just wasn't the right table-setter for a high-energy show. He was also not as polished with his remarks, so the rapport suffered.

  • Pentatonix at the Howard Theatre

by NDWolfwood on 12/7/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The Pentatonix show at the Howard Theatre on Dec. 5 was outstanding the group was full of energy and really engaged the audience. The food was of a great quality though better before the bands started going on.

  • Loved Them!

    by G3nutz on 12/7/12Howard Theatre - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

Pentatonix was great as expected. I also enjoyed by first visit to the Howard. A very nice space, the only downside was the sound was excessively loud for an a Capella show.
