Pensacola Ice Flyers Background

The Pensacola Ice Flyers were founded in 2009, following the Ice Pilots who had been part of the ECHL since 1996. The team began playing at the Pensacola Bay Center in the 2009-10 season as a member of the SPHL. Since then, the Ice Flyers have become one of the top teams in the league, winning multiple championships and making a significant impact on the community. The team is owned by Greg Harris, who took over in 2012. With four President's Cup championships, they are tied for most in league history. Their attendance numbers consistently rank in the top three in the league. The Ice Flyers will celebrate their 15th anniversary during the 2023-24 season.

  • Great Time for the Family

by KiKi on 2/21/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

Our family had a blast! We ate soft pretzels & popcorn. The game was great & our children loved getting hockey masks. We were dancing & singing songs from the game for days after. Great fun!

  • Sadly, a Disapppointment

by HockeySaint on 2/21/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 1 out of 5

I have attended many hockey games at all levels of leagues. This particulate experience disappointed me in various systemic ways. Saving many words, problems involve price (way higher than for games at other venues of same level), traffic flow terrible, pitting innocent driver against innocent driver, parking is blocks away for double other venues' prices and forced to pay by app. In the arena, seats tighter than in other venues and concourse not wide enough to ease flow of fans. Lines for food went twenty deep for some reason--and further added to the flow problem. This built in me a negative game experience.

  • Great time!

by PJ on 2/19/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

Game was a lot of fun. Event staff was excellent. The whole event was very well coordinated and smoothly executed. Only negative: The seats were very cramped and not comfortable for a 2 or 3-hour event, but still looking forward to attending another game.

  • Disappointing Facility

by Veteran SPHL on 2/18/24Rating: 1 out of 5

I have atttended many games of hockey at all levels, including in various SPHL venues. Pensacola offfered the weakest experience ever. Parking is difficult, traffic to the arena puts fans in conflict with each other, the entrance is convoluted, signage is absent, the usher did not know which direction seating numbers went, the floor was sticky BEFORE the game started (the whole row of strangers commented on it), the seats have inadequate space for legs, never mind passing, concessions operations for a relatively small crowd of 7,000 bogs down and lines go twenty deep, clogging the close quarters of the concourse. Staffers push through the intermission mob with supplies that could have been moved earlier. On the other hand, the restrooms were clean and the maintenance staff kept busy processing food trash very well. Credit to them! They earned the only star that I did give. I have been pleased at other SPHL venues. This one in Pensacola disappointed.

Good Venue. Too bad they didn't win, but a good time was had by all.

  • Amazing First Live Hockey Experience

by NWaits on 1/27/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

Easy to purchase and exchange tickets, easy to find, security lines moved quickly. Game and intermission entertainment was AMAZING. Fun, silly, great sports action (easy to follow and pick up even for a first time fan). Event staff (announcers, camera peeps, etc.) kept us engaged throughout. Highly recommend for a fun night out!

  • Great event, except parking.

by AL DAD on 1/23/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

We loved the event and everything about it, except parking. I could not find any information on parking, parking plan, traffic flow, parking prices on the Pensacola Flyers site or Pensacola Bay Center. So we spent quite some time stuck in traffic just to find out we can’t park there, so try to find another spot, which meant stuck in traffic again. Very frustrating.

  • Fun but needs improvement.

by muthurhen on 1/23/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 3 out of 5

The game was a blast! However, the parking was horrible! I am disabled and so is my husband and he can no longer push my chair, if we park early enough to get up front we would have to be there about 4 hrs early and we live out of town. The other issue are the seats are very narrow! When the venue is packed you can hardly breathe.

  • Very disappointing.

I've been to games in previous years that were alot more entertaining.

  • Inexpensive Entertainment

    by MKamm1040 on 1/15/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

Overall great time was had by the family. The Ice Flyers lost but still the kids had fun. I do wish that those who have never participated in their during game raffles be explained better. Entered raffle for Game Worn Jersey to only find out you we're supposed to glue your eyes to the jumbotron and not use any other facilities when it is announced. Was not explained so my donations hopefully are put to good use. The hockey game and the ambiance was great. The raffles need a better system in place. There were plenty of TV timeouts to announce a winner.

  • Great Time!

by Meghann Mullet on 1/2/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

As always, the Ice Flyers put on quite a game just before the New Year! The volunteers, staff, etc were more than pleasant and someone I saw even received a certificate for their first time attending an Ice Flyer's game! The music was infectious and everyone seemed to be in great spirits and enjoying themselves and everyone else! Looking forward to the next game!

  • Great team - Terrible Venue

by Jimbo on 1/2/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 3 out of 5

The team is great to watch. All employees are wonderful to deal with. This venue needs to be torn down and rebuilt properly. Access to parking is ridiculous. (One way in and one way out) Not enough entrances, so people are forced to wait outside. Lines for concessions are so long that you miss the game. Probably will not return.

  • Usually a good time. Somewhat disappointed.

by STL Blues on 1/2/24Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 3 out of 5

As usual it fairly easy to park and get to our seats. The down fall on this night was concessions!!! After first period they were out of some items. What they did have (hotdogs) were being sold COLD not warm or hot. Popcorn was so salty I barely managed to choke down 4 hand full of a large bucket. Game was decent even though we lost. Just a off night. Not their best showing. Hopefully better next time.

  • The entire group had a great experience!

by Bayfield Bruce on 12/29/23Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

Had plenty of snack and beverage choices , the kids got jerseys, and saw a great game!

  • The game was fun and exciting to watch live HOWEVER!

by Doug on 12/27/23Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 4 out of 5

The game was fun and exciting to watch. However, the facility is a little cramped - not enough space between seat rows and there are no cup holders. Also did not like that I could not use cash to buy food or park my vehicle. I believe we should be able to use cash here in America.

  • First time going

by Pensacola on 12/26/23Pensacola Bay Center - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

It was a blast. We got seats the first row off the floor. Kids loved it. Every time they score it’s a fun dance. Will be going back for sure.
