PENNYWISE IN CONCERT:
Punk rock legends Pennywise have been an emblem of SoCal surf and skate culture ever since their self-titled 1991 debut. As one of the most successful independent punk outfits of all time, Pennywise elevated bros to sacred status with seminal punk anthems like "Bro Hymn" and "Living for Today," building a massive following that still turns out in full force for their moshpit-heavy live shows. With a new album due out in 2014 — their first with original lead singer Jim Lindberg since 2008's Reason to Believe — the band promises to pull out all the stops on their upcoming tour dates.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Formed in Southern California in 1988 and named after the killer clown from Stephen King's novel It, Pennywise released several EPs before their self-titled 1991 debut LP established them as a dominant force in SoCal's burgeoning punk scene. As one of seminal label Epitaph's flagship bands, Pennywise released a string of taut, anthemic albums throughout the '90s, working their way into the mainstream by the 1995 release of third album About Time. That album cracked the Billboard 200, a veritable coup for indie punk and a feat the band would repeat with each subsequent album — including 2012's All or Nothing, the band's tenth studio album.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Pennywise always puts on a great show. They have so much energy it spills out to the crowd!"
"Pennywise is nothing without Lindberg and now that he's back they're just as amazing as before. Great show!"
"The energy during the entire show was awesome and you could feel the love and respect everyone was channeling when Pennywise took the stage. They played hit after hit..."
Loved it. The pit was great. Sound was incredible. Great venue
the band was awesome , just the place to small for such big crowd
Was one of the best concert ever , see penywise it was amazing ,
Never a disappointment. They bring it every time and this was no exception. It clearly shows that they love what they do and truly love their fans. What a blast! That was my 3rd time seeing them since 2014 and can't wait to see them again!
The venue Culture Room is such an amazing place. So intimate. Pennywise was just as good as they were in the 90s if not better. Sounded great! Awesome energy
They rocked! Killed it, I was front and center up against the barricade getting smashed from the pit but it was worth it. Except for the one jock asshole with the 98 mute shirt and 2 pennywise wristbands on looking for a fight. There's always gotta be one dick! Lay off the Coke dude. Everyone thought you were a prick.
Pennywise were great but they did not want to give me the signed vinyl because I did not have the right ID they didn't say anything about that on the website:( The venue also closed part of the balcony for no reason all 3 nights which was lame
Pennywise always brings it. But when they play in LA they bring it even harder. They played my all time favorite album, and the crowd went nuts. The circle pit was huge, the Palladium was the perfect size. Acoustics were solid, standard complaints: why is beer so expensive everywhere? If you want to see a rad punk show go see Pennywise. Period.
Pennywise always puts on a great show! They played for an hour and ten minutes. They always get the crowd going.
Hearing Pennywise sing Unknown Road from start to finish was incredible. Its my fav album by far, and they did NOT disappoint!
So much energy and a great performance. I haven't seen them in over 15 years and I must say they were better than ever! Glad I had an opportunity to see them and hope to see them again soon!
Bouncing Souls are an amazing band, but their set was confusing. And the sound sucked.
Pennywise is great but there sound all 3 days in a row was terrible. Opening bands had better sound.
So pennywise was ok they played their usual set. Seen them a couple times and its the same show every time. BUT this time they had TEENAGE BOTTLE ROCKET open for them. and they are ALWAYS awesome! They gave it their all (as usual) and they stole the show.
We had a good time! Plenty of room, no lines, sounds was good! We will definitely see Pennywise again.
Best show ever! Didn't stop rocking from the opening act till the end
Awesome show. Awesome venue. Openers were really good too.
Nice staff. Good space. Fun atmosphere. Understood the punk show vibe, community and antics pretty well.
Great show!! It was so great to see a real mosh pit in action!
Band was great, and venue was awesome! Drinks were expensive, but that's the way it is at all concerts now.
