Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

  • Mixed response for party

We had 4 adults in our party. The 23/24 years olds enjoyed more than the 50+. There were kids in attendance and I wouldn't recommend for children due to language and anti religious content. I also wouldn't recommend if you are a sensitive religious person. The magic was good and I liked the use of the audience in tricks. There was a lot of time spent on a non magic skit where I would have preferred another magic trick. Overall it was okay, but not at the $500+ price paid.

  • A little short for the money.

by Jimbo on 6/29/25Penn & Teller Theater at Rio Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

The show was good but not outstanding. I thought it was also a little short. Penn talked way too much at the beginning and used way too much foul language for the young audience. Magic was neat but not enough.

  • The 50th anniversary feels like a 49th anniversary

by Ryan on 6/25/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 4 out of 5

It was an overall great show with Penn and Teller as funny as ever in this mostly family friendly setlist. Every trick involved audience participation which led up to a great punchline finale. Unfortunately both me and my father (who are massive P&T fans) left just a tiny bit underwhelmed with the show. Maybe we hyped it up in our heads too much but there was really nothing about it that felt like something as big as a 50th anniversary. Instead of going the classics route they went for "all new"[mostly new] tricks (although if you watch Fool Us you'll see most of them there) which is nice but a lot of the show lacked that classic feel. There were a few actual classics and a couple new tricks that came close and had good charm to them, yet still didn't compare to what fans know them for. My dad and I were in the car listening to Whodini getting ready to see the bad boys of magic but I guess I missed the memo that they dropped that title? No danger, no suspense, no trick reveals, no deep storytelling, no crazy twists and no blood, guts, paint or marshmallows. I'm not saying I wanted Teller to escape a straight jacket hanging upside down over a bed of spikes while Penn reads Casey At the Bat, I just wish they adapted that essence and energy into a show *about* their 50th anniversary! Despite the length of that rant I still very much enjoyed the show and feel like it's a great value for the price. Highly recommended, probably just not a "must see"unless you're a fan of theirs.

  • Penn & Teller, Lincoln, CA 6/21/25

by Johnzilla on 6/24/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

There is no way to describe the show other than Incredible! I’ve wanted to see them for years but each time I’ve been to Las Vegas, they’ve been off. I saw the show advertised near Sacramento and knew I had to get tickets so my wife and her mom came with me. They didn’t have an opening act but they didn’t need one. The show ran about 90 minutes and was very entertaining and very funny. Penn is great keeping show going and is constantly interacting with the audience. Over the course of the show, they’ll bring maybe 20-30 people onstage which really adds to the show. I won’t go into any details on the act other than it must be seen to be believed. They’re on their 50th anniversary tour and if it’s like it was for me being an item on my “bucket list “, make sure you see Penn & Teller if you get the chance. The show is worth going to Vegas, but go see them if you get the chance!

  • Surprisingly bad

by Sam on 6/24/25Rating: 1 out of 5

Long winded and surprisingly amateurish for such a big name. The magic tricks were underwhelming, on one occasion it seemed like Penn made no attempt to hide his sleight of hand. Just bad all around, we left midway through and weren’t the only ones to do so.

  • Excellent Magic

by Blue Balloon on 6/24/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 5 out of 5

Penn & Teller are the best, their magic is flawless and left us stumped over how they did it all. They are great in gaining the attention of the audience. Audience members were selected at random to be on the stage and be a part of the magic. I was lucky enough to be on stage and it was amazing! Go to the show!

  • Well.. ok

by Magic Mich on 6/24/25The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort - LincolnRating: 3 out of 5

All tricks I've seen before. Penn is deeply jaded and talks to much.. Teller is delightful and famously understated. The show moved slowly but was fun and clever.

  • Tired and underwhelming show

by Long time fan on 6/22/25Penn & Teller Theater at Rio Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

Went to Vegas to take in several shows, one being Penn and Teller. Paid extra for good seats. They started the show telling everyone how their show was always changing and fresh unlike the other Vegas shows. However, while the show was entertaining, it was the same tricks that they have been doing. There was no wow, no excitement. With the fool us show and all the innovation that they see, I guess I was expecting more. I can say I did see them, but don't think there will be a repeat.

  • Less than I expected

by Bernie on 6/4/25Penn & Teller Theater at Rio Las Vegas - Las VegasRating: 3 out of 5

I had high hopes but was somewhat disappointed. Penn and Teller: Penn looked like he was forcing enthusiasm. Teller just looked so old. Maybe it’s time to retire. At first I thought it was just a poor audience night. They were less than enthusiastic. But upon further reflection, I changed my mind. The audience, and myself, have been watching Penn and Teller for years on tv, so we were very familiar with them and their repertoire. What we saw was a repeat of their acts. Some new, but really a reframing of old routines for the most part. Therefore, we expected more in person and paying for it. I’d like to address the staff. The ushers were wonderful. Engaging, personable, nice to talk to. That reflects how they are being treated by the performers. What makes P&T unique is their ability to relate to the audience, to include them in the acts, to make them feel important. The staff behavior is a positive reflection of that.
