About

Penn & Teller On Tour

Not exactly comedians but more than just magicians, Penn & Teller bring a quirky combination of laughs and illusions to every performance. You're ready to laugh before they even trot out their tricks, with the big, brash Penn Jillette towering over his staid, unspeaking partner Teller. And once they dip into the bag of tricks they've been perfecting since the 1970s, you're simultaneously dazzled and delighted. Whether they're working with things like magic bullets, nail guns, and straitjackets, or just employing a seemingly ordinary deck of cards to demonstrate some sleight of hand, the duo can make you doubt your own senses as they appear to make the impossible happen right before your eyes. Sometimes they toss a touch of danger into the mix, and sometimes they simply play the whole thing for laughs, but whatever illusion they're unveiling, Penn & Teller can always pull it off.

Penn & Teller Background

America's most famous magic/comedy duo actually started out as a trio in the '70s, but when third member Weir Chrisemer left in 1981, Penn Jillette and Raymond Teller (who has always gone by just his surname) continued on together, and it was then that their star began to rise. With TV appearances on such shows as Late Night With David Letterman and Saturday Night Live, a series of Broadway shows, and their own Emmy-winning special on PBS, Penn & Teller carved out a niche in show business and became household names in the process. In the years that followed, they became TV personalities in their own right, first with a Showtime series and then with Fool Us on the CW. They've earned their own star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. They've appeared in music videos by Run-DMC and Katy Perry. They've established a record-breaking residency in Las Vegas. And throughout all of these accomplishments, Penn & Teller have shown that a big, loud guy and a small, silent guy can make people gasp and guffaw at the same time.

Penn & Teller are always amazing. More than just magic, their show combines illusion and intellect in an entertaining, thought provoking and artistic presentation that is part clever stunt and part performance art. Best ever.

  • Great show, one complaint about the Venue.

Penn & Teller was awesome, amazing, magnificent, hilarious... I can't overstate how great they were. My one complaint is for The Venue itself. They have these box seats above and behind the rest of the theater with big LCD TV screens in them. During the show these screens play a screen-saver of Horseshoe Casino ads, and some parts of the screen saver were very bright and flashy. As a result there was very bright, flickering light cast across the otherwise dim theater, and it is very annoying and distracting. I actually got up during the show and walked up to the box nearest me to ask the staff to turn the screen off. This made it better, but I was still sometimes bothered the screens in the other boxes. Please, Venue Staff, KEEP THESE SCREENS OFF WHEN THE HOUSE LIGHTS ARE DOWN!

Saw Penn & Teller in LasVegas, the show at the Hammond Horseshoe Casino was comparable minus a few large tricks.

Fantastic show! We've seen them three times over the past 12 years and they continue to put on an amazing show. PLUS they take as much time as needed to greet everyone in the audience after the show. Extremely personable guys, it was great to see them again. Would DEFINITELY recommend this show.

Saw them in Vegas a few years back with my mom and was the best of anything out there. Penn even greeted fans after the show- very funny, down to Earth. Worth every penny-- you will enjoy it! Wow, these guys are amazing.

  • Penn and Teller still amaze and make you laugh!

by MGabbard on 2/15/12Rio Hotel & Casino - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Penn and Teller continue to amaze. Their current show (February 2012) was a mix of some of their best classic gags (like sawing the lady in half), to newer ones (like the cellphone in the fish) and a few brand new ones (like helium). They interact with the audience through the entire performance, and there are some really good laughs. These guys still love what they do after all these years and if you have seen them in person before you owe it to yourself to see them again.

Everyone needs to see Penn and Teller at least once in their life. And because they are the most amazing people, they will stay outside for hours just talking and taking photos with people, my daughter and I will remember them forever.

  • Disappointed...but...

by nprwashman on 2/13/12The Mahaffey - St PetersburgRating: 2 out of 5

It was pretty much a magic-show...DUH...what was I expecting?!! Our seats were about six rows from the very back, in the nose-bleed section of Mahafey Theater. From one of the very first remarks by Penn, about coming from humble beginnings and being able to relate to the folks in the balcony, I surmised that this show would be somewhat tailored for the enjoyment of we unfortunates, located way out in left-field. Wrong!! There were quite a few standard card-tricks that could really, only be fully enjoyed by those sitting In the first ten rows, or so. From our position, a snipers-scope would have come in handy, but would had to have been checked-in at the front door. Many of the stunts were, for the most part, pretty easy to figure out. Not to be totally negative, there were some pretty entertaining moments using volunteers from the audience; especially the knife throwing and levitation acts. I have always been a pretty big fan of P & T and really do enjoy watching them on television. I guess I was expecting a show that was more adult-orientated and didn't realize there would be a good number of children in the audience. Penn is far more entertaining with "R Rated" material and I feel that would have made for a much better show. Never the less, take the kids, but sit down front to really see what's going on.

  • Imagination fun for adults

by mynckname on 2/13/12The Mahaffey - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

Fun magic show playing on a lost sense of imagination that is meant for cynical adults. These guys use humor and innuendo to get a diverse audience to buy into their illusions and have a fun time. I liked the show and may do it again if new material.

  • They were worth the wait.

My wife and I had gone to vegas to get married 7 years ago and had wanted to see them but we somehow chose the off week for them. But finally made it up plus they came off stage after show to meet fans not many do that anymore.

Great illusions, over all a great show. But, we were in the balcony and a couple of the illusions were hard to follow at that distance. Yes, we would go see them again.

  • Great show.

Penn & Teller deliver a thought provoking show that entertains and makes you think a bit outside the box. After the show they were outside shaking hands and taking pictures. They seem to be the genuine article and they won a long term fan.
