PBR: Professional Bull Riders on Tour

For a rodeo rider, trying to master a feisty horse is tough enough, a task not to be taken lightly, but bearing down on a big bull increases the scariness quotient considerably. That's one of the things that makes watching a pro bull rider so compelling — it's thrilling and frightening in equal measure as you marvel at the riders' skills while praying that they make it out unscathed.

These days, when it comes to bull riding, it's all about PBR: Professional Bull Riders. The organization started back in 1992 as a grassroots effort spearheaded by a handful of riders with a vision for what the sport could offer to fans. PBR grew by leaps and bounds over the decades, and by the 2010s they were sponsoring three major tours every year, adding up to hundreds of events with millions of dollars in prizes being awarded annually.

Needless to say, attending a PBR event means watching the best bull riders in the business strutting their stuff. Over the years, champs like J.B. Mauney, Kody Lostroh, Justin McBride, Adriano Moraes, Chris Shivers, and Tuff Hedeman have all distinguished themselves as decorated heroes of the PBR, giving all the rest a high standard to which they could aspire. And each of their tours offer fans the opportunity to catch some bull riding history in the making, be it the Unleash the Beast Series that ends with the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, The Velocity Tour that showcases the rising stars of the PBR, or the Touring Pro Division split into Western, Central, and Eastern regions.

Whichever PBR competition you end up catching, there's one common thread. You're guaranteed to see some world-class athletes reaching deep inside themselves to tap into the best of their talents and give rodeo lovers an unforgettable experience.

  • PBR-Syracuse

Everything was very good. The only issue I had was the riders for this particular event and venue were not that popular or highly ranked and they did not last very long on the bulls. A couple other things that were annoying were the excessive wait time for food at the venue and exiting the parking area.

  • Great event! A must do and id go again!

The show itself was so much fun! They kept the entertainment going even when there were slower parts. The venue however frustrated us because the speakers didnt work in our section and we couldn't hear anything rjw announcers were saying.

  • Great show, but Ticket PROBLEM

    by H. on 9/10/19Peoria Civic Center - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

Hi - The show was amazing, but I was disappointed in how my tickets were handled. When we got to the event, our seats (ROW B) were sectioned off. I was told by an usher that these seats were deemed unsafe and that I should have gotten an email telling me I had new seats. This never happened, and I check my email several times a day. No email was ever sent telling me I had new seats. I was told to go back to the box office and tell them what happened, so I headed that way. I then had to wait in line again to get to the box office (after I had already waited through the line for security to get in). After 10 minutes of that, I told the woman at the box office what happened. She said she didn't know anything about this and asked if I bought my tickets through Ticketmaster. I told her I had and showed her my receipt on my phone. She then asked for my ID and walked off to a back room with my phone and my ID. I then waited another 8 minutes. Meanwhile the show was about to start and I still didn't have tickets. I finally asked the guy at the next window if he could find out what happened and that the woman who worked next to him left with my phone and ID and I didn't know what was going on. He then left and went to the back room. A few minutes later he came back and told me she was on her way. Then she came back and gave me 4 new tickets in a new section. While I understand that this kind of thing can happen, it was disappointing that there was this much rigmarole just to get the seats and especially after I had already paid hundreds for them ahead of time. This meant that we had no time to even check out anything else ahead of time. I would hope this doesn't happen again.

  • Good

Everything was good for the most part, could potentially use a little more entertainment/involvement of the crowd. But a point to note was the fact that they raised both a border patrol and a homeland security flag during the national anthem. Seeing as how there are multiple countries being represented in this type of event, in particular Mexico, it leaves a bit of a sour taste for those in attendance. The stigma behind both of those agencies, has the potential to leave many feeling unwelcomed. Especially with the current political climate that no one can just ignore.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • Fresno PBR Velocitie Tour

    by OldSchool32 on 3/26/19Save Mart Center - FresnoRating: 5 out of 5

We got really good seats about 8 rows from the event floor, we paid a fair price of $70 and as always the PBR is Great! The PBR is Family oriented and they keep you on the edge of your seat, with non-stop action! We go every year to Fresno, Ca Save Mart Center and try to make it annually to PBR in Sacramento, Ca for the Ford Tuff Series.

  • Not very evensteven for professionals

by Eva Edith on 3/26/19Save Mart Center - FresnoRating: 3 out of 5

This was my first experience with PBR, and I got close seats to see the bulls, or at least that's what I thought. However it wasn't that close because the corral doesn't extend all the way to the natural edge of the arena at the SaveMart Center, so there was a large gap between the seating and the corral, enough space to fit two large trucks. Still I could see it well enough, some parts were really exciting. But some problems arose mostly with the questionable scoring from the judges. In one instance, during the second round, a rider lasted the full 8 seconds and then some but only received a score of 73/100 because the bull didn't buck enough, and suspiciously the rider was Hispanic/Latino. In another instance, a riders leg was caught underneath the bull and because the bull fell over, they gave him a second ride, and the rider was Australian. In the last and final ride, the clock stopped a full two seconds after the rider had fallen from the horse. Not to mention, the US Border Patrol sponsors part of the show, not sure why they're sponsoring stuff and shoving it downy your throat. The best part of the show is the last 10 bulls they bring out for round 3, the caliber of the animals is amazing. We are talking about big animals with a lot of strength.

by BigMac on 3/19/19Wright State University Nutter Center - DaytonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a lot of fun! We had a blast and our seats were awesome. We were by the chutes so we could see all the riders and bulls really well. We were at the perfect distance away that we could still see the whole arena and everything going on. The riders were amazing and the performer was hilarious, very engaging with the crowd. Overall a wonderful show.
