PBR: Professional Bull Riders on Tour

For a rodeo rider, trying to master a feisty horse is tough enough, a task not to be taken lightly, but bearing down on a big bull increases the scariness quotient considerably. That's one of the things that makes watching a pro bull rider so compelling — it's thrilling and frightening in equal measure as you marvel at the riders' skills while praying that they make it out unscathed.

These days, when it comes to bull riding, it's all about PBR: Professional Bull Riders. The organization started back in 1992 as a grassroots effort spearheaded by a handful of riders with a vision for what the sport could offer to fans. PBR grew by leaps and bounds over the decades, and by the 2010s they were sponsoring three major tours every year, adding up to hundreds of events with millions of dollars in prizes being awarded annually.

Needless to say, attending a PBR event means watching the best bull riders in the business strutting their stuff. Over the years, champs like J.B. Mauney, Kody Lostroh, Justin McBride, Adriano Moraes, Chris Shivers, and Tuff Hedeman have all distinguished themselves as decorated heroes of the PBR, giving all the rest a high standard to which they could aspire. And each of their tours offer fans the opportunity to catch some bull riding history in the making, be it the Unleash the Beast Series that ends with the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, The Velocity Tour that showcases the rising stars of the PBR, or the Touring Pro Division split into Western, Central, and Eastern regions.

Whichever PBR competition you end up catching, there's one common thread. You're guaranteed to see some world-class athletes reaching deep inside themselves to tap into the best of their talents and give rodeo lovers an unforgettable experience.

  • This actually was my first rodeo!

    by J. P. on 2/4/20Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first rodeo and I kind of expected more. I had great seats, so I thought in the center or the arena. However most of the action only occurred by the gates. It seemed that most of the rodeo was in spurts of two seconds. There were seldom rides of greater than 5 seconds.

My friends and I had a good time. In my opinion, this year's event was not as good as last year, so that was disappointing.

Decided to take in a show I normally wouldn't put on the list of evening entertainment. Professional Bull Riders tour. Had decent view except it was on a main level and next to an entryway - so there was constantly folks coming and going in front. The show itself was interesting as the test of man and beast. From a casual 'fan' perspective it would have been appreciated to have a scorecard or program just to know the 5W's (who/what etc.) was going. As well as advising the crowd how many riders were left - the last rider went and it was "thank you, good night". Though the riders did walk the entire stadium providing autographs/photo ops to anyone that stayed along the railing. Good venue, decent seats and view just small little in show items that may have enhanced the experience (at least for me).

  • Great family night out!

  • Family Friendly event easy on the wallet!

by Khirs207 on 1/27/20Nutrien Western Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Loved every second being at PBR. A group of 12 of us went for a 25th birthday. The tickets were a REALLY good price for the view, and though the beverages were expensive, we still spent way less than we expected! One main comment for improvement would be the sound, as it was difficult for us to hear clearly sitting in the back, but luckily we had the screen to refer too. Had a blast! Cheers!

  • Great event

by Applefan on 1/27/20Nutrien Western Event Centre - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

The acoustics are not that good in there. Our tickets were behind and to the left of the chutes so it was difficult to see when they used that side. Pluses and minuses for the money spent

  • Bad parking

by Drew on 1/23/20Royal Farms Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena) - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

Parking gates were extremely slow and made for a bad experience leaving the event.

  • Fun evening

by Dalena on 1/22/20Moda Center - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

Fun evening in a calm atmosphere. Only issues we had were understanding the announcers. No one around us could understand what they were saying 2/3 of the time. I wish they would have used the center score board more than the back one. It was hard to see and read. However, the center screen is right there. About 1/3 of the riders had their name and home location on there, the others didn't. Overall we would go again.

  • PBR

The Rodeo was good, however the sound when they were talking in the microphones, had so much of an echo we couldn't hardly understand him... Also, the con-session stands were way way WAY over priced, which is so frustrating as I would buy something and/or drinks both soda or alcohol, but since it's so expensive I refuse to buy anything at all. Also, parking for events is beyond bad, which will make it very few and far between, attending events...

It was exciting to see the bull riders in person instead of on TV.

It truly was my 1st rodeo and I think I’m hooked now - such a fun and entertaining evening! Can’t wait to do it again!!!!

  • What a fun ride!

by Michelle on 1/22/20Moda Center - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Great bull riding!. The event moved along quickly with little down time. The bulls had just as much personality and celebrity as the riders. Great music and nonstop action.

  • The Best...

    by A. P. on 1/22/20Moda Center - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

It was a great night. Had so much fun. It was my first time going to a Bull Riding inside. It was a great experience. I will love to go again...

  • Great seats

    by D.R. on 1/21/20Moda Center - PortlandRating: 3 out of 5

Seats were good, worth the $$. The usher was great. Beer was spendy. PBR needs to know the sizing and quality of their clothing products need to improve. Definitely NOT worth the money.

This was something I had never done. The show itself was really good. The crowd loved it. I however was uncomfortable for the bulls. Into bullriding? A must then!!
