PBR: Professional Bull Riders on Tour

For a rodeo rider, trying to master a feisty horse is tough enough, a task not to be taken lightly, but bearing down on a big bull increases the scariness quotient considerably. That's one of the things that makes watching a pro bull rider so compelling — it's thrilling and frightening in equal measure as you marvel at the riders' skills while praying that they make it out unscathed.

These days, when it comes to bull riding, it's all about PBR: Professional Bull Riders. The organization started back in 1992 as a grassroots effort spearheaded by a handful of riders with a vision for what the sport could offer to fans. PBR grew by leaps and bounds over the decades, and by the 2010s they were sponsoring three major tours every year, adding up to hundreds of events with millions of dollars in prizes being awarded annually.

Needless to say, attending a PBR event means watching the best bull riders in the business strutting their stuff. Over the years, champs like J.B. Mauney, Kody Lostroh, Justin McBride, Adriano Moraes, Chris Shivers, and Tuff Hedeman have all distinguished themselves as decorated heroes of the PBR, giving all the rest a high standard to which they could aspire. And each of their tours offer fans the opportunity to catch some bull riding history in the making, be it the Unleash the Beast Series that ends with the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas, The Velocity Tour that showcases the rising stars of the PBR, or the Touring Pro Division split into Western, Central, and Eastern regions.

Whichever PBR competition you end up catching, there's one common thread. You're guaranteed to see some world-class athletes reaching deep inside themselves to tap into the best of their talents and give rodeo lovers an unforgettable experience.

  • Last minute but was awesome

by Kilowat on 2/18/20FedExForum - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

Decided to go at the last minute. Looked for tickets on line at the venue site. Then thought, let’s see what ticket master has. They were better seats, cheaper price and was super easy to purchase. The bull riding was good. Was a good end to a great Valentines weekend!

  • PBR excitement

Really enjoyed the whole show and presentation. There were some intense moments with a couple of the riders and an injured bull which hopefully all are fine.

  • 2nd best PBR

by Babs on 2/18/20FedExForum - MemphisRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the Velocity PBR but after watching the top bull riders and bulls, there is a big difference between the top ones, and the ones on this tour. That said, we still enjoyed our evening. Fed Ex forum is a smaller setting so we were able to see the action better than at AT&T stadium.

Hopefully we don't have to wait that long until the PBR returns to Memphis again.

Great entertainment, great for the whole family, been to a lot of bull riding but this was the best one of my life, overhead screen with replays, my family had a blast, if you’ve never been, look up next PBR & attend, great time.

  • PBR Velocity Tour

    by K. on 2/18/20FedExForum - MemphisRating: 5 out of 5

As good as it gets...a tough pen of bucking bulls and enough of the top riders in attendance to make it exciting...congrats to Fabiano Vieiera on the win!

  • More fun than you can imagine!!

by Sheryl L on 2/6/20Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about this experience was top notch! We have attended the PBR events at the Van Andel Arena previously and we always stay in the Amway Grand Hotel, which then has a tunnel you can walk through to get to the arena. We arrived early for a behind the scenes tour that we were offered and it was so wonderful I can't tell you how much it meant to me. I have been attending PBR events for many years, and this was the first time I really learned about all the effort that goes in behind the scenes. They explained how the arena was set up, the gear that the riders wear, how the music is selected and even the fact that the bullriders only get a paycheck if they are one of the top scoring people. The seats are easy to find and there are plenty of restrooms around the place. I would definitely come here again!!

  • Wonderful experience

Overall it was a great experience. It was my first time being there in person because I usually watch on Ridepass.com and I loved every moment of my time there watching those riders do their thing.

  • PBR does an AWESOME JOB. Man vs Bull

by Knot2late on 2/5/20Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The visual lights, sounds, rodeo clown entertainment was fabulous. Van Andel has very small seats in the upper decks. It was dangerous and everyone had to stand for anyone to pass by because there is no foot or knee space. Not PBR's fault. The animals are well taken care of and safety of everyone - including the Bulls - is a priority. To watch the skill and courage tested is amazing. It's our family annual get together now.

  • Great time

The bulls won. The cowboys lost. 8 seconds is a long time!

  • A must see

    by J. M. on 2/4/20Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Had to talk my sister into this one. After 15 minutes she said we could go again AND get front row seats next time. Such a great time!

  • Great show

by Michelle on 2/4/20Van Andel Arena - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. We were a little disappointed that there weren't more merchandise tables set up. We didn't see much that we wanted. And it was a little disappointing that the venue shut off all the vending machines so that you had to use their concession stands. Because the lines were very very long. And all I wanted was a bottle of water, but I wasn't going to stand in line for a half an hour to get one. But The bull riding was fantastic.
