About

Paul McCartney has been anything but idle during his post-Beatle years. In 1971 (within one year after the break-up of the Fab Four), McCartney formed the rock band Wings which would go on to produce numerous hit singles and enjoy strong album and ticket sales during the decade of its existence. Wings' most successful and highly acclaimed album, Band on the Run, stayed at the top of the U.S. Charts for four weeks and went triple platinum. Hit songs for the band include "Live and Let Die," "Band on the Run," "Jet," and "Silly Love Songs." McCartney proved, in the '80s, that his popularity with the public was still as strong as ever by embarking on a highly successful solo tour. Memorable collaborative songs were also produced in the '80s--"Say Say Say" and "The Girl is Mine" with Michael Jackson, and "Ebony and Ivory" with Stevie Wonder. In the '90s, he expanded his already impressive musical repertoire by composing two albums of classical works (Standing Stone and Working Classical) recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and, in the same decade, released an album of ambient, techno music under the pseudonym The Firemen. Other notable albums of his solo career are 1982's Tug of War (recorded with famed Beatles producer George Martin), his 1984 soundtrack for the film Give My Regards to Broad Street (which he also directed), and 1989's Flowers in the Dirt, and 1997's Flaming Pie. McCartney was honored with a Knightship in 1997.

By far the best show I have ever seen. Paul looked and sounded amazing. Great song selection with a very capable band to back him up. Not only did he sound great, but his interaction with the crowd was impressive. If you have the chance to see him, then do so! Worth every penny for the ticket!!

This show easily surpassed all of my expectations. It started an hour late for some reason, but was still totally worth it. Paul and his band were amazing, and actually managed to use Paul's advanced age as an asset to add to the humor of the show, which there was a lot of between songs, like an old time Beatles concert. The new arena was nice, too. You really can see everything from every seat.

    Paul McCartney Was AMAZING

by ChrisSchaal on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

I cannot even put into words how unforgettable this show was to me and my 13 year old nephew. From start to finish the show was outstanding. The tributes to John and George were moving and the stories inbetween songs made me feel closer to the music. I can't wait to see him again!

    AMAZING IS A HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT!

by ConcertGirlpjj on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

This was the best show I have ever seen or will most likely ever see! Paul's voice is awesome and the energy level is unbelievable! His love for his work shows in every detail, the variety of musical styles and guitars and pianos. He does three strong hours without a break or costume change! His interactions with the crowd made Consol Energy Centers 18,000 plus crowd seem like a more intimate venue. It is easy to see why Paul McCartney is such an icon.

Paul McCartney gets better with age!!!

by jaajab on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Paul McCartney puts on a very fast paced show that keeps you on the edge of your seat every moment. From old favorites to newly performed songs, he had the audience mesmerized. He's very personable and relates well with the audience and includes some people from his audience such as a woman who came up and had him autograph her thigh, since someone already had their back signed the other night. He stopped and thought about others when a gentleman proposed to his girlfriend and had them up on the BIG screen for everyone to wish them well! He sounds as good if not better than he did in the 1960's and his energy is amazing! He goes straight through without even pausing to take a drink and gives you something memorable to take with you for the rest of your life! Well worth the price!

    Paul Rocked!

by BlondeLady on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

The concert was totally amazing! Absolutely the best we've seen in quite a while. A mix of old and new material with older songs "modernized". Paul was personable and charming with the crowd. Congratulated a couple who got engaged during "My Love". The show lasted 3 1/2 hours and we could have watched 3 1/2 more! Paul still has a great voice and rocked every song he did. Cheers, too, to the back-up musicians. They are top notch.

    Awesome Entertainer

by Hardwrap on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Sir Paul was entertaining and interactive with the crowd. He showed how versatile his talent is by playing several instruments. I've been to several concerts and this one was magical! He played for three hours and he looked as though he was enjoying every minute of entertainment! The crowd was enjoying him just as much. This is a concert that I will never forget not only because he was a Beatle, but he was so entertaining!

    McCartney was Amazing!!!!!

by Sambrie on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Lots of Beatles, Wings, and some tributes to his ex-Beatles Mates made for a truly unforgettable evening. If I have a fraction of Sir Paul's spry and rock savvy at his age, 68 then I would be truly blessed. An amazing show by one of the worlds all-time greatest musicians!!!!

    Paul Was Awesome

by Chimomof2 on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Wow, I love Paul! His performance meet all my expectations. I was happy to have the opportunity to see him in person. I love the Beatles and enjoyed Wings as a teenager. I couldn't have imagined back then that I would hear him in person singing Band on The Run when I was 50.

Sir Paul's show truly life changing

by Moogools on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

I loved it...the songs, his voice, the acoustics, my seats, the stage show, the band, his attitude toward the crowd, and the Consol Center. If you made me give you a negative it would be him not signing "Revolution". This is a birthday I'll never forget.

    Past, Present, Future

by Jimjoe1 on 8/20/10CONSOL Energy Center - Pittsburgh

Rocking show from beginning to end! By my count 35 songs, Beatles, Wings, and solo creations mixed in from All My Loving through emotional renditions of My Love "for Linda", to Something "for George", to Here Today "for John" and off into some of the best all time loved songs (Let It Be, Hey Jude, Yesterday). Paul and his band let the music take the lead while his genious in communication whether through instrumentals, lyrics, or audience interaction left us feeling like we are all part of Paul's family. His wit is still off the charts, and his musical skills are honed to such a sharp edge that the bands interaction is a freeding frenzy of rock n roll joy. Sitting with my twenty-four year old daughter gave us the chance to see generations sharing a magical, musical moment together was astonishing. Infants, teens, young adults, and seniors with grey or white hair, sensitive guy pony-tails were standing on their feet mixing dance moves spanning fifty years of movement evolution while mouthing words that might have been written almost half a century before many of them were born . WHAT a sight to see! Paul's voice, strong, sweet, rocking, and moving had no perceptable troubles moving from screamin rock (Live and Let Die, Helter Skelter) to ballads (Blackbird) or through any exercise he put himself or the audience through... even audience response drills. A fantastic show for music lovers of any age, bringing the Past alive, the Present electric, and the Future memories of having been in the presence of one of the greatest musicans of all time. THANK you Sir Paul for Up and Coming to PIttsburgh!
