Patton Oswalt continues to leave his distinctive imprint across all areas of entertainment, from his award-winning comedy specials to his many guest roles on television. His most recent comedy special We All Scream (which also marked his directorial debut) launched on Netflix last September and Oswalt was recently nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album. Last year, he starred in the Magnolia Pictures comedy I Love My Dad, winner of the Grand Jury and Audience awards at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival.
Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his performance in Jason Reitman's film Young Adult, starring opposite Charlize Theron. In 2009, he also received critical acclaim for his performance in Robert Siegel's Big Fan; the film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and Oswalt earned a Gotham Award nomination for his performance.
Oswalt has appeared in many films, including The Circle, alongside Tom Hanks, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Zoolander, both directed by Ben Stiller, Steven Soderbergh's The Informant with Matt Damon, and alongside Seth Rogen in Jody Hill's Observe and Report, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Todd Phillips' Starsky and Hutch.
Oswalt's past television work includes memorable roles on Parks and Recreation, which brought him a TV Critics Choice Award, A.P. In 2020, Oswalt's Emmy nominated Netflix special I Love Everything was widely applauded upon release, and he received a Grammy nomination for his comedy album of the same name. In 2017, he received Grammy and Emmy nominations for his album and Netflix special Annihilation, which addresses his own devastating loss and dealing with the unexplainable, while making it all painfully funny. In 2016, he won the Emmy for 'Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special' for his sixth comedy special Talking for Clapping and a Grammy Award in 2017 for his comedy album. He has been nominated for a total of six Grammys and four Emmys. Liked Patton's overall humorous attitude, his liveliness, and political statements. Cursing was minimal, his humor was based on wit, not being gross. This was the perfect way to laugh in the new year after a fabulous dinner on Lake Union! My wife was very happy, haven't seen her laugh that hard and sustained, in a long time. Happy wife, happy life!
At one point I had tears streaming down my face from laughing so hard! Patton has always been a favorite but he really delivered a fantastic, warm hearted and over the top performance. You can tell even with everything going on - this is his passion and making people laugh is what keeps him happy. When he comes back to Seattle I will 100% be there!
This was an evening well-spent. Mr. Oswalt was witty, self-referential, and quick, as ever. We're really glad we went, and we highly recommend that you see him when he gets to your city.
Great venue greater talent. Opening act was very funny and of course Patton stole the show. I’ll never look at a barn the same way again.
We had a blast! Overall great experience! Patton's crowdwork was hilarious.
I loved this show so much. His crowd work really showcased his talent. So funny!
this was a great show. the opener was good and Patton was great.
Patton Oswalt didn’t disappoint. He comedy was on point. And, the Pageant was a great venue to see him at with their vaccination verification.
Patton was hilarious and the opening comic was funny as well. I love going to events at The Pagent, but I just wish they’d give just a bit more spacing in the orchestra. Wide shoulders on either side of me made for close quarters.
Patton Oswalt was great as always. A little hard on the wallet to pay $60 a piece for one hour of comedy. The Pageant had a major issue though. We were seated right in the center on the main floor and we were being blasted with cold air from the HVAC so consistently that we were shivering the entire show. Why is the AC even on for a wintertime show? Our entire row was complaining about it. We moved seats, still freezing. I wasn’t even able to enjoy Patton Oswalt because I was too distracted trying not to die of hypothermia in the venue.
As expected, had an amazing time seeing Patton Oswalt.
So I usually love Patton Oswalt's comedy but it seemed like a lot of these jokes we'd already heard from other stand-ups and the crowd work really slowed the tempo down.
Patton was on fire! Solid set material, and 20+ minutes of primo crowd work.
Hilarious show, well organized with covid vaccination check before entering. Masks were not required once inside. LOVE Patton Oswalt - just fantastic!
I honestly feel terribly sorry for comedians today who came up in the 1990’s. They all have to be careful not to offend “anyone” or “anything” in this generation of non comedy. PATTON OSWALT was a comedian I’ve wanted to see live for YEARS! Finally got the chance. Luckily bought front row seats. Patton is easily one of THE GREATEST comedians at this moment in life. He is so intelligent. He go places and thinks way beyond any other comedian on this planet. I screamed out laughing ONE HOUR STRAIGHT WITH NO BREAK. Thank you Mr. Oswalt. I want to thank you for the much needed laughs in 2021 because no other comedian can make us laugh in 2021. I WILL GO SEE PATTON AGAIN THE NEXT TIME HE STOPS IN ST. LOUIS AGAIN!
IF you ever get the opportunity to see Patton, do it! My wife and I couldn't stop laughing. He is BEYOND personable and human in so many ways. We've seen him on TV shows (Curb etc), but not doing stand up which he is a natural. He even made a comment on our venue, Humphreys Concerts at the Bay (San Diego) that he'd "never walked 20' from his hotel room to the stage." It's a very special outdoor venue with about 1200 seats. I felt like Patton could be a good friend....he's that warm and likable. His story about his wife confronting an "intruder" in their back yard with a baseball bat during Covid (while he stood BEHIND her) was hilarious. Will see him every time he's back in San Diego!
Love Patton and his style. No holds barred and always incisive and on point.
Patton Oswalt was terrific, absolutely terrific. His lead on comic was good too. I gave a 4 star review because the venue said that it was optional to wear a mask during the show. There were signs that said that you had to wear a mask yet they did not enforce it. They did check for ID and vaccination cards but we were under the impression that masks would be worn by everyone during the show.
Beside some pesky audience members the show was fantastic. Next time he’s in town I’ll be there.
