About

Patton Oswalt continues to leave his distinctive imprint across all areas of entertainment, from his award-winning comedy specials to his many guest roles on television. His most recent comedy special We All Scream (which also marked his directorial debut) launched on Netflix last September and Oswalt was recently nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album. Last year, he starred in the Magnolia Pictures comedy I Love My Dad, winner of the Grand Jury and Audience awards at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival.

Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his performance in Jason Reitman's film Young Adult, starring opposite Charlize Theron. In 2009, he also received critical acclaim for his performance in Robert Siegel's Big Fan; the film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and Oswalt earned a Gotham Award nomination for his performance.

Oswalt has appeared in many films, including The Circle, alongside Tom Hanks, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Zoolander, both directed by Ben Stiller, Steven Soderbergh's The Informant with Matt Damon, and alongside Seth Rogen in Jody Hill's Observe and Report, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Todd Phillips' Starsky and Hutch.

Oswalt's past television work includes memorable roles on Parks and Recreation, which brought him a TV Critics Choice Award, A.P. Bio, Veep, United States of Tara, Seinfeld (his TV acting debut), and many more. He is also very well known for playing 'Spence' on The King of Queens for nine seasons. Oswalt is also the narrator on ABC's hit comedy The Goldbergs.  He provided the voice for 'Remy' the rat in Pixar's Oscar® winner Ratatouille, and his other voice credits include 'Max' in The Secret Life of Pets 2, Sorry To Bother You, the SYFY series Happy!, Rick and Morty, Archer, and BoJack Horseman.

In 2020, Oswalt's Emmy nominated Netflix special I Love Everything was widely applauded upon release, and he received a Grammy nomination for his comedy album of the same name. In 2017, he received Grammy and Emmy nominations for his album and Netflix special Annihilation, which addresses his own devastating loss and dealing with the unexplainable, while making it all painfully funny.  In 2016, he won the Emmy for 'Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special' for his sixth comedy special Talking for Clapping and a Grammy Award in 2017 for his comedy album. He has been nominated for a total of six Grammys and four Emmys. Oswalt has shot eight TV specials and released seven critically acclaimed albums -- in 2009, Patton received his first Grammy nomination for his album My Weakness Is Strong.

Patton Oswalt left Cleveland audience members with sore stomachs after his hilarious set at the House of Blues. Right from the get-go, Patton tore down the house with his biting criticism of the LeBron James decision. He later ventured in to more of his familiar topics of fatherhood, religion, and his life as a comedien. Most of his material was fresh, but it was interspersed with some of his older material. Overall, it was a great show and he is highly recommended.

Not only was Patton as brilliant as ever, but none of the openers disappointed. I have some new comics to research...

  • Very funny show overall

by Anonymous on 6/20/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Alt Comedy was great. John Mulaney and Chris Hardwick were particularly funny - their performances alone were worth the price of admission. Patton Oswalt was funny as well, and I liked that he was somewhat spontaneous - there were a couple Chicago-specific bits he did that he had clearly put together just in the last day or two. The only major disappointment of the show was the MC, Andy Kindler, who was consistently irritating - when more than half your jokes are about how you're not funny, eventually the audience is going to agree with you. Still, overall a very good show, and I would certainly recommend it.

Everything was awesome. We had great seats, and all the comics were on their game, except the MC. He was absolutely awful. And I'm pretty certain he was getting smashed during the show, so his schtick went downhill really fast.

  • Patton Oswalt/Andy Kindler/John Mulaney/Etc.

This was the first stand-up show I've been to where all of the comics were riotously funny. Patton Oswalt was the highlight, of course, but there were a ton of great sets, particularly from John Mulaney (whose one story was probably my second-favorite of the night) and from Kyle Kinane. See any of the comics featured (the others were Maria Bamford and Chris Hardwick) if you get a chance.

  • Amazing night of alt comedy!!!

by PooIs on 6/20/10Vic Theatre - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was just a great show from word one. I was psyched when I saw the lineup and they didn't dissapoint. Andy Kindler was a great host and didn't kill the momentum as much as he thought. Surprisingly great was John Mulaney, the unknown of the group. Kinane killed with his set. Chris Hardwick's nerdy references were great. Maria Bamford was her usual quirky energetic self and her jokes about emotional whack a mole really rang true to the crowd. Patton Oswalt's set was ridiculously great. Unforgettable night and I hope that all these comics come around chicago more often.

Oswalt, Bamford, and Kinane were all very funny. Kinane was a new discovery for me, and Oswalt had a great set. Great show.

  • General Patton is a GOD

by BananaSam on 2/11/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Honestly my favorite comedian ever. Puts together the most interesting ideas into an amalgam of hilarious statements and strings them together effortlessly. Goes big and gets exactly the reaction he wants. One of the greatest creative minds of our generation.

[Insert penis joke]. Awesome show. Perhaps my favorite stand-up comic. He seemed slightly disgruntled and disheveled but gave a hell of a performance. The material was great and the delivery was perfect.

by Venicep on 2/8/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

As always, Patton Oswalt delivered an unbelievable show with his wry and witty humor! He had lots of new material as well as great older material, great banter with the audience and had a wonderful set. Never a disappointing moment!

  • Oswalt tired and still hilarious

by Anonymous on 2/7/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Patton Oswalt was obviously very tired on Friday night in Boston; between jet lag and young fatherhood - i felt for the guy. He sometimes refered to notes to move his thought process along and that was fine - he was upfront about it and 'in the moment' and the audience couldn't have cared less. They hung on and loved every word out of his mouth. The laughter was at times deafening (almost as much as the harsh sound system) and many of us walked away with our sides hurting. Patton really got cranking at the very end - his updated KFC encore was genius! He did a ton of great material - and the opening local guy was funnier than MANY featured on Comedy Central.

  • Patton Oswalt outstanding

    by Stacymac7 on 2/7/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

We saw Patton Oswalt this past Friday, after a hurried and extremely draining week - what a breath of fresh air! He was outstanding and absolutely hilarious! From the time he walked out on stage, everything he said was clever, sharp and made us laugh; he engaged with the audience effortlessly, like we were watching him have an intimate chat but he brought us along for the ride. In our case, the audience members were duds and he still made the interchange brilliant! I would definitely see him again and would recommend his show to anyone with a sense of humor! Thank you, Patton!

Excellent show. The opener, Ken Reid, was hilarious also. Patton did a great mix of both old and new material.

  • Patton rules

    by DoubleD09 on 2/6/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Patton was amazing - even having heard many of the bits before, I still laughed my ass off. The theater is great, not a bad seat in the house.

  • Oswalt at his finest!

by RyanQuintal on 2/6/10Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

The always funny Patton Oswalt killed it last night, though some of the material was from older bits, sometimes it was on purpose and still different and original with the Wilbur Theatre crowd.

Genius! I have been listening to Patton CDs for years and it was fantastic seeing him live. He is extremely witty and has wonderful energy. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe! Bravo! Can't wait til he comes to NY again

  • Patton Oswalt gives 1000%

by zeldakoz on 11/11/09Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Patton Oswalt reeled on the stage for nearly 2 hours, keeping up a steady stream of 50-cent vocab-laden vignettes, each punctuated by no less than a dozen hysterical interjections and side bars, always managing to keep on point. He never said um, hmm, or uh. That's talent. Spiked with political agenda, breeder perspective and religious commentary, he never let the crowd get bored. Woot, I say, woot!

  • Nothing But a Good Time!

by Anonymous on 11/10/09Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Patton Oswalt has a brilliant way of blending his creative imagination with everyday situations and past experiences to create amazing humor! Definitely a must see if he is in your area! Otherwise, catch one of his specials on Comedy Central or DVD.

  • Patton's POV

by Chikelu on 11/10/09Town Hall - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Patton is a thinking person's comic. His abilities and talents w/ the English language are what a musical instrument is to an accomplished musician. His observations are spot on and you can relate to what drives him nuts. Only he says it better!
