Patton Oswalt continues to leave his distinctive imprint across all areas of entertainment, from his award-winning comedy specials to his many guest roles on television. His most recent comedy special We All Scream (which also marked his directorial debut) launched on Netflix last September and Oswalt was recently nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album. Last year, he starred in the Magnolia Pictures comedy I Love My Dad, winner of the Grand Jury and Audience awards at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival.
Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his performance in Jason Reitman's film Young Adult, starring opposite Charlize Theron. In 2009, he also received critical acclaim for his performance in Robert Siegel's Big Fan; the film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and Oswalt earned a Gotham Award nomination for his performance.
Oswalt has appeared in many films, including The Circle, alongside Tom Hanks, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Zoolander, both directed by Ben Stiller, Steven Soderbergh's The Informant with Matt Damon, and alongside Seth Rogen in Jody Hill's Observe and Report, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Todd Phillips' Starsky and Hutch.
Oswalt's past television work includes memorable roles on Parks and Recreation, which brought him a TV Critics Choice Award, A.P. Bio, Veep, United States of Tara, Seinfeld (his TV acting debut), and many more. He is also very well known for playing 'Spence' on The King of Queens for nine seasons. Oswalt is also the narrator on ABC's hit comedy The Goldbergs. He provided the voice for 'Remy' the rat in Pixar's Oscar® winner Ratatouille, and his other voice credits include 'Max' in The Secret Life of Pets 2, Sorry To Bother You, the SYFY series Happy!, Rick and Morty, Archer, and BoJack Horseman.
In 2020, Oswalt's Emmy nominated Netflix special I Love Everything was widely applauded upon release, and he received a Grammy nomination for his comedy album of the same name. In 2017, he received Grammy and Emmy nominations for his album and Netflix special Annihilation, which addresses his own devastating loss and dealing with the unexplainable, while making it all painfully funny. In 2016, he won the Emmy for 'Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special' for his sixth comedy special Talking for Clapping and a Grammy Award in 2017 for his comedy album. He has been nominated for a total of six Grammys and four Emmys. Oswalt has shot eight TV specials and released seven critically acclaimed albums -- in 2009, Patton received his first Grammy nomination for his album My Weakness Is Strong.
Great act. Funny without being cruel, even when dealing with audience members.
I have never seen Patton Oswalt's stand-up comedy, but his brand of comedy was recommended by a friend. I'm glad I went. He was funny, topical, and mostly clean.
Love Patton! His show was hysterical! Will definitely see him any time he's in the area!
The show was awesome. The venue was great (although the bathrooms weren't incredibly easily accessible) all in all a fun time!!
It was my first time catching him live, and I have to say his delivery had us eating out of his hand. Our good seats gave me and my wife a great view.
Patton Oswalt was funny as ever. The opening act left a lot to be desired though.
I loves me some Patton Oswalt. His stand up never disappoints me. His interaction with the audience was hilarious. His bit with the visit to the DMV and the Post Office on the same day had me in stitches. His take on real-life experiences are so on point and crazy funny. He's the kind of guy I would love to have a couple of drinks with and listen to him all night. Loved this show and this venue. Can't wait till he comes back again!
Patton was hilarious as usual, and the opener wasn't bad after 10 minutes or so. We were towards the back right by the aisle, and the view was great.
Laughed the entire time. Couldn't get enough! Patton kept the crowd engaged and had everyone in fits of laughter.
Multi-dimensional set -- from current events to his new book to amazing interactions with two couples in the audience. Just excellent
Patton Oswalt is one of our favorite comedians, so we knew we'd have a great time. The opener was really great too. Great venue, great comedy, definite thumbs up.
I love Patton's humor but that theater wasn't the right venue. It felt like I was going to an arts and lecture series on anthropology. It just doesn't feel like a good place for a comedy show. The Nourse theater in SF would've been a better location. There are bars and nightlife surrounding the place.
I bought these tickets for my husbands birthday. I've never really seen Pattons standup before. So I was skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised. He interacted with the audience and had a "fun" presence about him. My husband and I had a blast! I would definitely see him again but pay for the seats in the front row. :-)
The show was so hysterical. I ended up in pain from laughing so hard and crying.
Patton Oswalt did not disappoint. My first time seeing him live and I was laughing constantly. Took a group of 12 people for my husband's birthday and they all loved it. Forgot the name of the opening act, local born guy that is out of NY now, but was also very very funny. Going to look up his name!!!
Patton was every bit as fun and funny as I expected. Great new material, with one or two from the recent album thrown in. Really loved the improvised sections with the audience. Hope he comes back to Philly again soon.
Venue: 3/10 Notes: The Tower really needs a big screen so you can still see the performer from the back. Audience: 3/10 Notes: The cold weather outside seemed to really suck the energy out of the room. Opening Act: 5/10 Notes: The performer just didn't seem to connect with the crowd. Patton Ozwalt: 8/10 Notes: Ozwalt was entertaining at points but, again I felt like he just wasn't on his "A" game. Maybe a combination of the show not being sold out and the weather. Also, he didn't bother to do an encore which to me was a sign that he wasn't into the performance that evening. Overall: 05/10 I think everyone was a victim of weather and the rundown venue on that night. However, I live near AC and I might have gotten a little spoiled by the more updated and venues that are closer.
Patton Oswalt : tons of original and new routine. Only one repeat "skit". Highly recommended.
Good venue, really sketchy neighborhood. For $51 I expected more than 45 minutes of Patton Oswalt. Evidently, prices have gone up and expectations have gone down, a shame.
I was so excited to see Pat Oswalt and he did not disappoint ! It was amazing. I only wish he toured more.
