About

Patton Oswalt continues to leave his distinctive imprint across all areas of entertainment, from his award-winning comedy specials to his many guest roles on television. His most recent comedy special We All Scream (which also marked his directorial debut) launched on Netflix last September and Oswalt was recently nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album. Last year, he starred in the Magnolia Pictures comedy I Love My Dad, winner of the Grand Jury and Audience awards at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival.

Oswalt was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his performance in Jason Reitman's film Young Adult, starring opposite Charlize Theron. In 2009, he also received critical acclaim for his performance in Robert Siegel's Big Fan; the film was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and Oswalt earned a Gotham Award nomination for his performance.

Oswalt has appeared in many films, including The Circle, alongside Tom Hanks, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Zoolander, both directed by Ben Stiller, Steven Soderbergh's The Informant with Matt Damon, and alongside Seth Rogen in Jody Hill's Observe and Report, as well as Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia and Todd Phillips' Starsky and Hutch.

Oswalt's past television work includes memorable roles on Parks and Recreation, which brought him a TV Critics Choice Award, A.P. Bio, Veep, United States of Tara, Seinfeld (his TV acting debut), and many more. He is also very well known for playing 'Spence' on The King of Queens for nine seasons. Oswalt is also the narrator on ABC's hit comedy The Goldbergs.  He provided the voice for 'Remy' the rat in Pixar's Oscar® winner Ratatouille, and his other voice credits include 'Max' in The Secret Life of Pets 2, Sorry To Bother You, the SYFY series Happy!, Rick and Morty, Archer, and BoJack Horseman.

In 2020, Oswalt's Emmy nominated Netflix special I Love Everything was widely applauded upon release, and he received a Grammy nomination for his comedy album of the same name. In 2017, he received Grammy and Emmy nominations for his album and Netflix special Annihilation, which addresses his own devastating loss and dealing with the unexplainable, while making it all painfully funny.  In 2016, he won the Emmy for 'Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special' for his sixth comedy special Talking for Clapping and a Grammy Award in 2017 for his comedy album. He has been nominated for a total of six Grammys and four Emmys. Oswalt has shot eight TV specials and released seven critically acclaimed albums -- in 2009, Patton received his first Grammy nomination for his album My Weakness Is Strong.

  • Patton Is Doing Fine

by AllenJPRADORobinson on 11/8/16Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

I first listened to Patton Oswalt's stand-up two summers ago while I was out of work. At one point my roommate came into the living room and told me that he had never heard me laugh that hard, so I wanted to see this guy just for that. I am also a huge fan of comedy that is different or cathartic in some way (Mike Birbiglia's My Girlfriend's Boyfriend comes to mind). When I heard that Oswalt's wife had died, I immediately figured that when he was ready to perform again, that would be an excellent show. I did not expect it to be only about a half a year later, so I snatched up these tickets as soon as I heard about the show. It was pretty much exactly what I was hoping it would be. Oswalt did a solid half hour of his typical stand up. This was all new, really strong material. And then he segued into material about losing his wife. I found this material so interesting, and somehow so funny at the same time. I hoped that Oswalt would be able to straddle this line, and boy did he deliver! I took one star off because he closed with a bit off of one of his previous albums that I had already heard. It is a great bit, and anyone who is not a comedy freak like me will not have heard it before.

  • Patton Oswalt

by LouliRabbit on 11/8/16Beacon Theatre - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Mr. Oswalt first live show after having such a tragic event was damn impressive. Each person deals with tragedy in their own way and for some that way is to sometimes turn to humor because otherwise we'd drown in it all. His stories, that he was able to share so soon (it will always be too soon) after the death of his wife were able to show what an amazing woman she was, how life is utterly unfair, and yet still trying to find some humor in the damn situation. You cry until you laugh until you cry and repeat cycle.

  • Patton is the real deal.

Beautiful venue and awesome show. Patton tells it honestly and bluntly. He's relatable as an adult, father, husband, realist.

Patton Oswalt was great. He was so funny and had all new material. My husband and I laughed all night, and we've been talking about it for days to all our friends. He's great, and we're huge fans!

  • Patton Killed It!

by NicoleBayArea on 10/21/15The Fillmore - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I've loved all Patton's stand up specials and I was nervous to see him live - I was worried he would rehash old material or his new material would flop. His new material killed it, his set was amazing! If you're a Patton fan, definitely check him out live!

  • Always Hilarious!

by JMB83 on 10/6/15The Fox Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino - MashantucketRating: 5 out of 5

The Fox Theater is a very quaint but comfortable theater and it allows a very intimate atmosphere. The opener wasn't all that funny but Patton was a riot as always with completely fresh dialogue! I always recommend Patton and would recommend this venue too!

Patton Oswalt is one of my favorite comedians and he reminded me again why last Saturday night. I had not heard any of the material that he performed before. I hope to see him again someday.

  • PATTON IS THE GENERAL OF COMEDY!

by Mange on 10/1/15Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Patton Oswalt's stand-up show at the Balboa Theatre in San Diego was just what we expected, incredibly funny. We laughed so hard our sides hurt. From personal stories to commenting on the state of the world, Oswalt kept it coming. The Balboa is a cool old venue right in the heart of the Gaslight District. Sight lines and acoustics were very good. A good/funny time had by all.

  • I vacated every fluid in my body

    by John1962 on 9/30/15Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I was laughing so hard every fluid in my body came loose. I was crying, coughing, sneezing and I think I went my pants a little. The man is non-stop funny. He is a must see.

Always enjoyed Patton's work and this was the first time we saw him live. The entire first half of his show seemed to center on making fun of anyone who doesn't "understand" LGBT issues. While this may be a current and interesting topic, after the first 10 jokes it started to go from funny to preachy. Some spontaneous and funny exchanges with audience members afterwards and the "clown" bit sort of made up for it.

  • Ehh

    by Cyrus4 on 8/19/15The Chicago Theatre - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

Thought it would be better- thought he would be more like the character on King of Queens. I didn't think it was that funny- we actually left early b/c he spent the last half hour talking w/ some audience members, and no one could hear it unless you happened to be sitting right by those people.

  • by benbenbenben on 4/13/15Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

There's not a bad seat in the house at Warner Theater for standup comedians (I couldn't speak to other types of events there). Patton Oswalt is clever and funny and relates well with the audience. His opener, Michelle Balloon, was a pleasant surprise, too. The theater is easily navigable with friendly staff.

  • Great show!

he is one of my favorite comics and he didn't disappoint in the least. he doesn't repeat material from old bits during his act which is awesome. his opener was also very good.

  • Hillarious!

by KatherineAngel44 on 4/12/15The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami BeachRating: 5 out of 5

I was literally falling off my chair in laughter! And so was the rest of the auditorium. My cheeks hurt after I left the show! Best comedian ever!

Obviously he is awesome. Good venue for this type of show.
