About

"Watching Patti Smith perform live – for the first, second or fifth time – feels like a life-changing experience.”- THE INDEPENDENT (Field Day)

“It’s a performance destined for the festival’s All-Time Greatest list” – Glastonbury Mojo

It has been eight years since Patti Smith ‘the godmother of punk’ last toured Australia, and nearly 41 years since the release of her first and most celebrated recording Horses. Horses was conceived to be, in her description, “three chord rock merged with the power of the word.”

“Patti Smith gives a fresh force to songs she wrote 40 years ago” –Metro

“Horses and its shamanistic punk poet siren are undiminished 40 years on” theartsdesk.com

Best-selling author, performance poet & visual artist Patti Smith’s list of artistic accomplishments doesn’t end there. She is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, recipient of the Polar Music Prize, a human rights activist and also holds the honour of “Commandeur des Arts et des Lettres”  from the French Ministry of Culture.

She will be accompanied by two members of the original group, Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daugherty, bassist / keyboardist Tony Shanahan, who has been a part of her band for twenty years and Andy York to perform Horses in its entirety during this not-to-be missed tour, as well as several time-honoured favourites.

In November of 1975, Patti Smith and her band recorded her debut album Horses at the famous Electric Lady Studios in New York City. An album that has come to be regarded as a seminal and landmark recording, that continues to have resonance and relevance for succeeding generations of musicians and artists. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Smith honour the lasting influence of Horses on this exclusive Australian tour.

“This is protest music. But it is protest with a fierce edge that seamlessly weaves a new politics into a rich legacy of rock-and-roll rebellion: She is celebrating a connection between music and movements that is swaggering and confident and more than ready to declare—as Smith does—that “we’re gonna change the fucking world!” ” – The Nation

“It will be a true, proud celebration.”  Patti Smith

    Excellent Show

by Barsac on 9/19/23The Anthem - Washington

We had excellent seats, up front and center. Patti was in excellent form. She made no excuses for forgetting lyrics sometimes, and just laughed it off. Very engaging with the audience. Her band (including her son) was excellent. We were standing and dancing a lot!

    Still an EPIC performer

    by Pat on 8/12/23

Small venue in Monterey CA last night. Patti still has her EPIC voice/vocals, and her passionate indignation for those who abuse/take advantage of the unprivileged. Still rockin' and being a rebel. Don't miss this rock and roll icon!

Patti was Queen over all she surveyed!

by betsyfromtexas on 5/12/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Patti Smith was absolutely transcendent on May 7th at the Austin City Limits Moody Theater! I was awestruck during the concert and still thunderstruck today about the totality of her and her band's performance. I've been a fan for over 40 years and I can honestly say that Ms. Smith made me believe that those years had melted away and that we were all transported back to her and our youths. She was funny, engaging, and totally present. She had us all singing enthusiastically as she encouraged us to sing the choruses and refrains of her greatest songs. "Dancing Barefoot" and "Gloria" are two examples that spring to mind when I reflect on the rollicking audience participation we engaged in; participation that she said that SHE loved and thanked us all for. As for me, the pleasure was all mine. I sincerely hope that she returns to Austin in the future!

Best Rock n Roll concert ever!

by Carol on 5/10/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Patti and her band were ON! It was great. Patti's voice was strong and beautiful. Her playlist was most enjoyable, and the crowd responded to her in an exuberant way. Rivaled the concert I saw of Patti in the 70s or 80s at the Austin Opry House.

    Legendary!

by Barry Cazan on 5/10/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

Seeing Patti was a transcendent experience. She still has the grace and attitude she's carried with her through her whole career. She could not have been more kind and engaging with the audience, while delivering a flawless, energetic setlist that left me moved, shaken, and smiling ever since. Do not miss Patti if she's ever in your neighborhood!

    Inspirational.

by Punk Lincoln on 5/10/22Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater - Austin

75 and singing like it's 1975. The band follows her beautifully. "Newcomer" Jackson is her perfect lead guitarist, with a touch of uncle Tom Verlaine in his playing.

    EX-QUI-SI-TE

by D. P. from Montreal on 2/28/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

She was amazing ! She is amazing ! She's a beast ! She is strong and powerful and yet so simple and soft spoken, spontaneous generous, funny and extremely cute. So are the members of the band ( Lenny Kaye is legend too !) The sound was incredibly perfect ! The Capitol is beautiful, perfectly small so everyone can hear well and see well. Garcia's next to it is awesome. And what about being just a few feet from the train station ? Just WOW. Every kilometers from Montreal and tokens spent were 100X worth . My forever Love to Patti Smith

Patti Smith is an amazing performer. She connects with her audience on an artistic and personal level. She attracts a wide range of fans from people on their 20’s to her contemporaries. The band was sensational and the two hours flew by. It was a real thrill to hear Patti sing People Have the Power! Kudos to Patti Smith!

    Patti at the Capitol Theater

by Greetings from North Brunswick on 2/27/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

Patti and Lenny in prime form despite celebrating their 75th birthdays. Strong song set although I would have liked to hear Gloria and Horses. A great night at the Capitol.

by Governor on 2/27/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

Patti and her band were in fine form and her voice is still as strong as ever! She takes time to converse with the audience and shares her feelings and emotions. Her song selection covered her entire 11 album range with a few covers added as well. A truly remarkable performance by a group of rock legends.

by August West on 2/27/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

People actually went to a concert to listen to music.... YEA!! Very few talking heads were at this show. Patti Smith and Band were in fine form for this show. Think I heard the best version of "Southern Cross" to date.

Patti Smith is a national treasure

by GG on 2/27/22The Capitol Theatre - Port Chester

She puts her heart and soul into every performance. She’s a whirling dervish of energy, all the more amazing at 75 years of age, with a voice of honey-coated granite. There’s only one and there’ll never be another like her.
