Passion & Poetry is a Sexy Comedic Date Night

by PassionPoetryGoer on 4/8/14Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This show was heartfelt, passionate, comedic, and at times ratchet! It was a well-rounded show full of some pretty awesome poets and musicians. The in-between performer out takes were absolutely hilarious with the drag queen Patty Labelle impersonator. Overall, me and my boyfriend had a great time snapping to poetry, dancing to music, and laughing to the organic comedy that was inserted. There was open seating within the chosen section, so just get there in time to get the seat you want. Also, vendors were in the lobby as well as a bar. Enjoy!

Decent but nothing more or less

Way too focused on straight people. No diversity at all

    sultry and sexy!!

by mssmith0813 on 3/18/13Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This event was amazing!!! The poets, especially Malcolm and Bo Ellis, with the sultry sound of the band and guest singer was definitely for the grown and sexy!!! I hope Joyce Littel has this more often because I will be at every one!!

    Passion & Poetry

by ABsOsoSexy on 2/15/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Found the poets to be far more entertaining, relating to audience, than the singer/songstress, as their music was far too loud & lighting was too flashing (annoying). Musician's wanted to shine more than needed, which was not fitting for the romantic mood we expected... Joyce Littel & the "candy" concept was very nice, and as always she came thru with entertaining & relating to the audience, but over all we felt the 2 main performances fell short & was NOT worth the price. We only hope the poets were well paid.

This thing was heavy on erotica, which I could get past, but I thought a more romantic touch could have been used. It also seemed to be more of a musician showcase than poetry. They had two musical artists who each gave over 30 minute sets, and only 6 poets, performing 1 poem each. I probably won't be going back next year, but would suggest more poets and less unknown musicians.

    Seats

by gkundre36 on 2/15/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

Passion and Poetry 2011 was a good show. I liked all the artist that were there. The only issue I had was with seating. I bought 2 tickets early to make sure I would get good seats. However, when I arrived with my guest, I was directed to balcony seating. So, the seats I bought were really null and void. I did not appreciate that since I bought specific seating. Otherwise than seating, the show was very good.

    Passion & poetry ...Really?!!

by Keepitmovn4life on 2/14/11Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I was not impressed & very tempted to ask for my money back. I understand that this show was for "grown folks", but I thought the artist would be more... well, Passionate & Poetic! Guess I'll have to stick w/Soul Factory & Apache if I want to hear REAL poetry...smdh! ;-(
