About

Ozzy Osbourne in Concert

Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most well-known figures in the history of metal, but The Prince of Darkness did plenty more than bite the heads off of doves and bats and sing for Black Sabbath. Born in Birmingham, England, into a working-class family in 1948, Osbourne became interested in musical theater at an early age, performing in numerous school productions. Entranced by The Beatles, Osbourne decided he would go into music after finishing school, but was sidetracked by a series of odd jobs — construction labor, plumbing, and working as a car factory horn-tuner — as well as a brief stint in prison for burglarizing a clothing store. Eventually a free man, he was asked to join Rare Breed, a band started by bassist Geezer Butler. The band changed their name shortly after. Its new name was Black Sabbath.

Obsessed with the occult, Butler and Osbourne, alongside guitarist Tony Iommi and drummer Bill Ward, took rock music on a violent left turn, infusing it with doomy riffs, macabre lyrics, and wild freak-outs. Their 1970 self-titled debut — famously hated by ‘Rolling Stone' critic Lester Bangs — shook pop music with a force that still cannot truly be measured; follow-up ‘Paranoid,' with masterful metal tracks "War Pigs," "Iron Man," and of course, "Paranoid," cemented them as the most important metal band in the world. After releasing an incredible run of albums throughout the ‘70s with Sabbath, though, Osbourne left briefly to work on a solo project that would eventually become ‘Blizzard of Ozz'; when trying to rejoin Sabbath a few months later, Osbourne was met with waves of derision and violence from the other band members. Osbourne was asked to leave, and he immediately released ‘Blizzard of Ozz' to massive acclaim: Monumental single "Crazy Train" charted at No. 9 on the U.S. Mainstream Rock list, and the album went 4x Platinum. He continued the streak with a number of lauded solo albums through the ‘80s.

In the ‘90s, Ozzy would create Ozzfest, one of the decade's most vital metal festivals. Eventually he did rejoin Black Sabbath (in 2011), working on new album ‘13,' released in 2013. It slayed the charts, including the U.S. Billboard 200. The band played their final shows in 2016. Catch Ozzy's second farewell tour, No More Tours 2, which runs until mid-October in the U.S. before heading to Europe.

Ozzy was the best as usual

by Navysk on 10/11/18Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

This is my 2nd Ozzy concert and wanted to bring the family (son and wife) to see him as this is probably the last tour in the USA. It was amazing and refreshing to see a singer that was not lip singing their own songs. He gave his fans what they paid and came to see. The real Ozzy.

    Ozzy is still going strong!

by ScorpionHeatseeker on 10/11/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Ozzy was at the top of his game during his stop in "Houston". An epic performance worth every penny. Zakk Wylde was a beast on guitar. The set list was a nearly perfect selection. The weather was decent. The sold out crowd was mellow and cool. This is what it really should be like when you go to a show.

    Ozzy was awesome!

by CherieJamz on 10/9/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Ozzy rocked the house. A little too many solo performances by the guitarist and drummer, but it's understandable considering Ozzy's age.

Ozzy, glad we got the chance:)

by leo13logan on 10/9/18Blossom Music Center - Cuyahoga Falls

First 60% of show was FANTASTIC! unfortunately, then came the 20-25 min. instrumental "naptime for the P.O.D." provided by the 'younger' pups in the band. When the Oz-man came back he quickly ran out of juice- - - BUT WADDAYA want 4 a 70+ dude!? NO matter the clinkers & clunkers,, WE LOVE YOU OZZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We really hope we can get ONE MORE SONG:):):):):)

Best concert in several years. Ozzy has my total admiration to still do what he loves at the age of 70! The man still has it!

    Seating, sure. Why?

by bigcat07 on 10/6/18The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

The Pavilion is a nice outdoor venue and does have seating. Problem is that everyone stood up effectively blocking the view of those seated or vertically challenged.

Good to see Ozzy one last time

by Anonymous on 10/5/18Isleta Amphitheater - Albuquerque

If you have never seen Ozzy, or if you're such a big fan that you would never miss his show, then this is a must do. I'm glad I saw him, and cool to see Zakk as well. However, if you're expecting a high quality performance, you may be disappointed. The old guy barely has any voice left. They were tuned so low to accommodate his voice (1-1/2 steps down on guitar) that it just didn't sound right. War Pigs was recorded in E, they played in C#. As I said, glad I saw them. but it really does need to be No More Tours.

Ozzy put on a great show

by MarkCarlile87 on 10/5/18Dos Equis Pavilion - Dallas

The show was epic, even for an artist who is the age that Ozzy is, it also allowed for a younger generation to stay in touch with artist and music of the past generations, while mixing in artists of the future like the utilization of Zakk Wyld from Black Label Society as the lead guitarist for Ozzy and his band... Again made for an epic show

    Ozzy was Great!

by Anonymous on 10/5/18Isleta Amphitheater - Albuquerque

The Concert was great. Ozzy put on a great show. The venue however okay. They started letting people bring lawn chairs for the lawn, but it makes it difficult for people who are standing and the people on the lawn chair are yelling at you to move. I got an item thrown at me because someone in the lawn chair wanted to sit, I wouldn't have mind them coming up to me and asking me to move a little but throwing something at me and then telling me to move I didn't like. I think if the venue wants to rent or allow people to bring lawn chairs they should section off a piece of the lawn for people to have their lawn chairs at.
