Ottawa Senators History

The original Ottawa Senators were founded in 1883 and were one of the founding teams of the NHL during its early years, winning 11 Stanley Cup Championships between 1903 and 1927. When the NHL started to expand to the U.S., the Senators were sold to St. Louis and became the Eagles, but the team shuttered after one year. The second incarnation of the Senators joined the NHL in 1992. The Senators have since gone on to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs 16 times.

  • Sens vs Blue Jackets

by JR Forster on 1/6/23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Easy to get into the venue. Lots of concessions open. Not a bad seat in the CTC. Leaving is a different story. Takes way too long to get out of the parking lot. All in all though-a great experience.

  • Amazing action, fantastic win

by HeidiP on 1/4/23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

I don't usually watch live hockey games or even ones on tv, but this was a special gift from Christmas and it was an amazing experience! Both teams played so well, fought so hard , and even the Sabres were so evenly matched against the Sens. It was an amazing match all the way to the end and it was awesome when the Sens won. The MC was great at keeping the audience engaged throughout, but it wasnt hard due the excitement of the game. Great work everyone

  • Amazing time so much fun!!!

by Drake batherson wife on 1/4/23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

The sens games are such a fun experience for everyone!! For tickets mostly starting at $30 it is such a great night. Always look forward to when the sens have a home game to go to

  • Loud and kicking

by Colin on 1/4/23Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

The between period hype up thing was far too long and way too loud. 3-4 minutes is ok, but 8-10 is boring. People behind us brought their young kids and let them scream, cry and kick our seats all night. They also spilled drinks on us. But, the Sens played well and they won a great game. Watching live NHL hockey is awesome, but it is definitely more enjoyable watching at home.

  • Ott/Wash

by Georgie on 12/25/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

The game had a slow start but good good finish (except for the overtime). I used valet parking, great going in but slow getting truck after game(weather related). The staff at Canadian Tire Center were pleasant and helpful. I took my elderly father and his companion to the game and they both commented on the great staff.

  • Okay

by Benny boy on 12/17/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Parking was okay, the seats were sufficient being in the 300s. Other than the price of the concession stands being ridiculously over priced. 1x Coke, 1x Sprite, and 1x Icetea, all 500 Ml 21.00$. I was not able to go out during intermission for a dart. So drinking for 3 hours, it was a downer for sure. Other than that, Go Habs Go!!!!!

  • Parking nightmare

by PJ on 12/17/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 1 out of 5

We were 1 Km from the arena 20 minutes before game time. By the time we parked and entered the arena, the first period was over. Paying a premium for a sell out game, one would think that additional staff would control traffic. After the game it took over 1 hour to vacate the parking lot. Spending two hours to get in and out of a parking lot to watch a hockey game has to be one of, if not the worst organized parking lots in the NHL. It is a huge deterrent to attending other events.

  • Parking not great

by Tristan on 12/17/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

So yea, I am not the first here complaining about the parking and the lack of public transport, but overall the experience at the arena was good

  • 2 hour road trip

by Mness on 12/17/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

2 hours to get there, parking lot mess upon arrival and departure. Good thing the staff is extremely nice and helpful, the fans are fun and the game was good! Will most likely not be going back to a week game or leave quite a few hours early.

  • Awesome experience! Got to go to the game 3 games in a row!

by Shufly on 12/9/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

I would love to go to a another hockey game again! Would be awesome if it was easy to get lots of tickets! Haha but awesome game the senators tried so hard to win but I guess la kings won

  • Great game

by Stittsville Bob on 12/7/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Great effort by the suns with a fairly good crowd.

  • Awesome time!

by OslekPrime on 11/22/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

Tons of fan fare to take part in and great food to enjoy while you’re at the rink. It did take us 25 minutes to leave our parking space and 55 to leave the parking lot though. I would recommend saving a seat at the rinks restaurant and waiting out that mess inside with a bit to eat.

  • Amazing

by Michelle on 11/11/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

  • It’s was fun

by Andy on 11/11/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

My seat was the best I ever had and I had a lot of fun

  • Senators

by Jason on 11/8/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 3 out of 5

Well, I had so much hope for this years Ottawa Senators after picking up Grioux and Debrincat. Then sign Stuzle, Norris and others long term. The atmosphere at the Canadian Tire Center has been electric. I have been to three total games so far this season Ottawa vs Arizona, Vega and Flyers. The disappointment I have is with the defensive breakdown of what should be a a great team. Is it coaching? Is it management? To have a GM day on National media he thinks this losing team is good? Yeah, good on PAPER! Each player is great! But them coughing up the puck top slot, that’s on coaching…. And now here we are. Paying $13 a beer, $120 tickets for what? I’m actually pretty disappointed with cost of tickets for a team whose leadership doesn’t actually appear to want to win.

  • Very nice event, when you get there

by Luvcas on 11/8/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 5 out of 5

The venue, team and game were pretty amazing, especially for a newbie like myself. But getting there is a mess if you’re trying to use public transportation. Just be aware of that.

  • Great night

    by D.j. on 11/8/22Canadian Tire Centre - KanataRating: 4 out of 5

Even though the game was evenly matched without any standouts, we had amazing seats and enjoyed our time.

  • Great night had and definitely very memorable!
