Orlando Magic History
Joining the NBA in the 1989 expansion era, the Magic struggled for three years until picking center Shaquille O'Neal first in the 1992 draft. The Magic finished at .500 in the 1992–93 season, barely missing the playoffs. Then, with only a slim chance in the 1993 draft lottery, the team won the rights to pick No. 1 again. They used their selection, Chris Webber, in a trade to obtain guard Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway and future picks.
O’Neal and Hardaway led the Magic to 50 wins in the 1993–94 season and then 57 victories, as well as a trip to the NBA Finals, the following year. In the 1995–96 campaign, the Magic won a franchise-record 60 games in what would be O'Neal's last season in Orlando. They made it to the Eastern Conference finals against the Chicago Bulls.
Over the next 10 years, the Magic made the playoffs five times under the leadership of coach Doc Rivers and Hall of Fame guard Tracy McGrady, who earned two scoring titles and the 2001 Most Improved Player award during his tenure. The 2006–07 season saw Orlando start a run of six consecutive postseason appearances, as star center Dwight Howard blossomed and the Magic surrounded him with young talent and savvy veterans.
The Magic reached the second round of the playoffs in 2008 behind Howard and forwards Hidayet "Hedo" Türkoğlu and Rashard Lewis. The following season, with trade acquisition Rafer Alston filling in for injured point guard Jameer Nelson and sharpshooter J.J. Redick taking on a more prominent role, the team won 59 games and defeated the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics and the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs. It earned the Magic a second trip to the NBA Finals, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Following Howard’s trade to the Lakers in 2012, the Magic began a decade-long rebuilding process while developing notable talents like Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Vučević. The Magic’s luck seemed to improve after reaching playoff contention once again in 2019 and 2020, and landing top draft picks such as Mo Bamba, Jalen Suggs, Franz Wagner, and 2023 Rookie of the Year Paolo Banchero.

It was a great experience! Anyone visiting Orlando should experience an Orlando magic game night !!!
We are a British family who have come over to Orlando to try things that we wouldn't normally do, and I'm extremely glad that we did this. We were very kindly directed to our awesome seats where we had a perfect view of the court; concerning the game itself, despite the fact that these two teams are near the bottom of the league the standard was still extremely high, dunks on fast breaks were a highlight of the match, as well as entertainment during every break. Overall, I would highly recommend going to a basketball game in the States 5/5
It was my first NBA game and we had a pretty good experience except for the bag policy. One outside usher said my wristlet was ok to take in and when we got to the front of the line the other usher said it was not permitted. This caused us to miss the opening of the game because we had to go down the street to rent a locker. Ushers need to be on the same page as far as the policy of the venue. We took my mom and she became sick from being up too high, so she asked to be relocated to another section and the ticket assistants were extremely helpful.
Good game great seats and service even though my team did lose sorry magic. Overall amazing experience will definitely come back again with my husband and kids for next coming games.
We had seats behind thr goal. Suprisingly I actually loved the seats. I was disappointed that we didnt get noise makers because that was my deciding factor on choosing those seats. We saw people on the sides with the noise makers and on the other end but they didn't give our section any. And also one of the railings came loose right next to us so we had maintenance butt in our faces for a bit and had to listen to loud drilling too. It was interesting to say the least. Either way, I would visit again. Hopefully next time we get those noisemakers to intomidate the opponents during free throws.
Food and drink options were a little lacking. But, the arena was pretty nice. The shining star of the Amway Center was the staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly and professional. I'll go back just to see them again. Jaz and Glenn and concession stands were amazing. Thanks for making it a great time!
The basketball was fantastic and a great experience but OMG, the price of the food and drink in the foyers was off the scale ridiculously expensive - I bought two beers and a spirit/mixer from one of the bars and it was $50, that's daylight robbery! I know you are going to pay a premium in any sports stadium around the world for refreshments but this was way over the top.
First off didn't know it was pride night. would have totally spent my money elsewhere. No I am not phobic- I just don't need it shoved down my throat or my kids of who your interest are and then need constant attention about it. The entertainment revolved mostly around pride and looked like it was all thrown together last minute or felt they could just wing it, it was kind of embarrassing that it was a professional game it was happening at. The seats I chose were a great viewing of the game and the game itself was alright.
Everything went great. The only thing we should have changed was our seats choice. We were at the upper part of the Amway Center, besides it was centered and the view was okay, we could have had a better experience. We have just chosen those seats cause of the price. If there was better prices in the nearer seats, it would be perfect, specially cause we could have taken part of all the stadium activities (the shirts that they throw to the public etc).
Spectacular, an incredible match, which will end even at the last second was unthinkable and in the end a fair winner Orlando
Watching the Magic is fine but they have the most asinine policy for fans who pay a lot of money to go enjoy their teams battle it out on the court. They have ridiculous poster restrictions and you can’t bring in anything that is considered “advertisement”. Literally not letting fans be fans, I feel sorry for folks traveling to Orlando. This girl had the smallest sign for the Bucks and silver lining Giannis didnt play that night but I don’t think he would have seen her sign otherwise and these are section 100 seats. You can always rent a locker outside for $13 though if you don’t feel like trashing your sign. Miami never gave me an issue for the same sign and that was a playoff game—a small sign and I had a row A seat. Just money hungering venue and the fans deserve better.
Great entertainment, the team mascot was awesome as well as the dancers . They kept the crowd involved. We had s great time
We had almost a good experience except for the drunk guy who fell and hit my son in the face. It seems to me that they should take more care of people who enter drunk or who get drunk inside the stadium.
Don't want to complain, but doors did not open till about an hour ten minutes before start.
Awesome night with the Magic! Sat in 112 and had a terrific view of the game! Could read the players’ lips. :). Arena is clean and easy to navigate. Staff very friendly and helpful. Mascot very entertaining!! Can’t wait to return! Go Magic!!
Arrived at the game about an hour early. No problems going through security and entering the building. The seats we chose had a railing behind them so my wife could stand without blocking anyone’s view. The attendant told her she had to stand in the entryway to our section. Why? Beside the Magic losing to Portland those were the two things that put a damper on the event. Despite that, the Magic played an awesome game and stayed with Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers although he did score 41 points. It still was a great game to attend.
They dont allow fanny packs in the arena and charge to store them in lockers. Make you rush to your car and back to arena before game starts before your allowed in. Other than that, resonable prices and great time
Excellant Parking, Excellant seat in Section 101 - Row 23 - Seat 4, great view of the court.
It was very nice. This was my first time seeing the magic in person and they did not disappoint. Palo made the winning shot on Thursday- 02-23-2023! Will come back to another game when I’m back in Orlando!
