About

Winner of the 2018 TONY AWARD FOR BEST REVIVAL OF A MUSICAL, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is the sweeping, universal tale of Ti Moune, a fearless peasant girl in search of her place in the world, and ready to risk it all for love. Guided by the mighty island gods, Ti Moune sets out on a remarkable journey to reunite with the man who has captured her heart.

The groundbreaking vision of two-time Tony Award nominated director Michael Arden (Spring Awakening revival) and acclaimed choreographer Camille A. Brown (NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live) conjures up "a place where magic is possible and beauty is apparent for all to see!" (The Huffington Post). With a score that bursts with life from Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, the Tony Award-winning songwriters of Anastasia and Ragtime, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND is a timeless testament to theater's unlimited possibilities.

Slow Start but Deep Drums and Graceful Dancing Gave it Life

    by n_minus_1 on 2/7/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Truthfully, the show started slow for my wife and I but once the deep drums resonated throughout the theater and graceful dancing accompanied the sound, the show became lively and interesting. The overall story was great and we are glad we attended.

Unique experience at a unique show!

by Allie on 2/5/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I purchased stage seating for this show (I normally sit in the nosebleed section in the balcony's balcony), and it was fantastic. It was definitely not the most comfortable, as we were on padded skinny bleachers, and they squished us in there. But it was worth it to see the actors' faces and costumes up close, and to sort of be a part of the action! It was a really great experience, the performers were all supremely talented, and the show was a very different kind of story. The set design was also unique and imaginative. Loved it!

    Closed Captioning!!!!

    by C. on 2/5/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The costumes, the performers, the singing, the staging all amazing! Was also really impressed and sincerely hope that the closed captioning to the side of the stage will continue to be used. It would be helpful, if possible, if it could be a little taller. Hard to catch the line you missed when so few of the words are showing - but totally loved it!

Amazing show with a powerful message

by Chris on 2/5/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The music, the acting and the story are really captivating. This show immerses you and doesn't let go until the very end. The performers deserve a lot of credit for what they brought to the show. It was also really cool that some audience members were seated on the stage!

    The acoustics were horrible.

by Jo on 2/3/20Cadillac Palace - Chicago

We couldn’t hear the dialogue or lyrics to the songs. Everything was muffled. I was familiar with the plot so I knew what was happening but if I hadn’t been, I would have spent 90 minutes in dismay. It’s a shame. The tickets were costly and a show which had been on Broadway should have a proven track record. I don’t care if it’s a traveling production. If you can’t deliver the logistics, don’t deliver the play at all. Waste of time. Waste of gas. Waste of money
