About

On Your Feet! on Tour

Get ready for one of Broadway's most colorful jukebox musicals with On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan. The production is based on the husband-and-wife team who brought Latin pop to the world in the '80s. Together, they've collected dozens of Grammy Awards for their irresistible, Cuban-infused pop, and it's their iconic hits — including "Get on Your Feet," "Conga," "1-2-3" and "Rhythm Is Gonna Get You" — that fuel this high-energy show. In between the sizzling dance moves and big pop numbers (brought to life with an onstage band), the cast takes us through the Estefans' powerful love story and inspiring rise to international fame. Emilio and Gloria themselves played a large role in the making of the musical's story and music, of course. Alongside the '80s megahits they made as Miami Sound Machine, the musical showcases several of Gloria's most poignant ballads, plus the original song "If I Never Got to Tell You" with lyrics by Gloria and music by her daughter Emily Estefan.

The story begins with a young Gloria in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami. She meets Emilio Estefan, a member of the Miami Latin Boys (eventually the Miami Sound Machine). As the two grow close — as artists and lovers — tension grows between her and her mother as she tries to juggle time caring for her father who's been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. All the while, Gloria and Emilio push to have their music heard. By Act II, the duo have officially made it. They're churning out hits and traveling the world, until Gloria breaks her back in a near-fatal accident — then rises through adversity to perform again.

On Your Feet! premiered on Broadway in 2015 and is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) with choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys) and a book by Academy Award–winning screenwriter Alexander Dinelaris. Since then, the musical has gone international and toured throughout the US and UK.

    Get on your feet

by Sheri on 1/23/24Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

Great show. Fantastic energy of the show. Great music and choreography!Would not recommend the pit seats in this theater as they were the most expensive priced for a folding chair and it was very cold in the theatre as it was cold outside! Better seats behind the pit seats. Dont waste your money on the pit seats unless you live the venue and will be on your feet dancing and singing vs watching a show.

The show was phenomenal!🤩 The storyline, acting, choreography, audience engagement and history was beautifully done. Kudos to Gloria & Emilio for sharing their story of loss, hard work and triumph. Kudos to the cast, musicians, backstage hands and choreographer Luis Salgado. I would go see it again in a heartbeat! 💗

    On your feet was great

by Jenny on 1/23/24Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

The show was great and the storyline was clear. The music was fun and the cast did a great job. The venue lacked as I sat in Mezzanine and the seats aren’t graded well so my view was partially blocked by the people in front of me.

    Invigorating Performance

by Jim C on 1/23/24Lynn Auditorium - Lynn

This is one of the most invigorating shows I have attended. It contains a perfect blend of strong character development, family history, and musical talent. If you are able to stay still during this performance you may be qualified to play in "Weekend at Bernie's 2."The amazing cast warmed up the 11 degree night. Very highly recommended.

    So-So

by CB on 1/20/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

“On Your Feet” was just so-so. The music and singing was great with good energy. The dialogue and story itself could have been better. Felt slow and uninteresting. The second half definitely had more energy than the first but still not what i expected. In some ways it felt like one step up from a high school performance. Some reviews said the audience were “on their feet” but during the performance that I attended no one was in their feet except at the very end of the show (last song which was a medley of hits).

    Meh

by MommyDuck on 1/20/24DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

On my 10 point scale, at the end of Act I, the play had scored a 7, but then the last number of Act I bumped it to a 7.5. The play seemed a little amateurish, with average repetitive choreography, awkward scene changes, and a weak Gloria. Act Two was much stronger. The lighting was better (in Act I, the overhead spotlight cut Gloria off at the knees and made her look disproportionate), and the pace was better. Emilio's accent was so heavy I couldn't understand a few of his lines. The last number and curtain call were outstanding. I missed my playbill! Overall, 8.

    This show did not disappoint!

by Maddy on 1/20/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - Greensboro

I had forgotten how much I love Gloria Estefan’s music. This play reminded me of my youth. When the song coming out of the dark began I teared up. Her accident occurred during my first year of college. It was very relevant in my circle of friends.

    Dancing in my seat!

by PrettyInBlue on 1/19/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - Greensboro

I think I forgot how fantastic Gloria and Emelio's music was. Having lived through their hey day, I was blown away. The dancing was excellent as was the band. It was good that they incorporated just enough Spanish to make it feel authentic, but not too much for an English speaking audience. So glad I went. Beyond the music, I feel I gained some insight to their family history.

    Fun Night Out!

    by JP on 1/19/24

We were pleasantly surprised by On Your Feet at DPAC in Durham! It's not a big Les Mis or Wicked type musical (and we weren't expecting that) but rather it's a sweet musical that tells the story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan interwined with some comedy, some tears, and a lot of determination. You will enjoy some great musical performances and fun dancing. Be prepared to get "On Yur Feet"at the end! Personally, I really liked the voices of Emilio, Gloria's mom and the youngest Gloria. They were clear and powerful. All of the singers did a great job. We also enjoyed the visual effects. I have read about mic issues in other reviews and was surprised that they haven't worked out this problem yet. The mic cut out several times but the actors were professional and just kept on going. Overall, definitely worth seeing this show. Expect a really fun night out for teens to seniors!

    Terrific energy!

by Karen on 12/12/23Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St Petersburg

This show was fantastic! Great singing and great dancing, great energy and even great acting (especially abuela). I was energized and singing all the way home. The choreography was excellent. I loved how they had a "young"Gloria, and the mother and the grandma all singing at different points. I did not think they could equal Gloria Estefan's rich voice, but the star and her younger image both did. I cried at the accident and I saw how sometimes tragedies bring families together. Gloria fought for everything she achieved, and Emilio was her stimulus. BRAVO!!!!
