Oliver is one of my favorite musicals of all time!

by WickedKnutson on 3/3/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

I didn't know when I purchased the tickets that the play was actually a local production and thought it was at the Orpheum so it was quite a surprise but a pleasant one! The actors were awesome and the sets were great and it was my first experience at the Pantages which is as lovely as the Orpheum. Enjoyed the show very much.

    Part of the family

by Osgoodschlotter on 3/3/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Oliver is one of the greats of Broadway with memorable music and an appealing Dickens' story. This production was very good in many ways. The singing and acting of Bradley Greenwald really lifts the show and gives it merriment...although Fagin is not such a nice character. The children in the show were just great and they danced and sang with great professionalism. The drabness of the beginning in the orphanage scene was good to contrast with the burst of color and costuming upon entering Fagin's den. There were also many good adult parts and the voice of Mr. Bumble was wonderfully operatic. The orchestra was also very good and added to the over all delight of the show. It would be even better if the play could be presented in a theater meant for theater.

    Oliver!

by Dickinson on 3/1/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Just slightly better than a high school production. Orchestra unbalanced to the voices. Acting nearly absent. Complete lack of emotion except in the violent parts. Miscasting of major characters--some were unbelievably flat. There was nothing "steampunk" about the production. It was simply an interesting set. There were some very good voices. But this was a play not a concert. Not worth the money.

    Very enjoyale performance

by managing on 2/26/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

I took my 17 year old son to see Oliver and we both enjoyed it. The vocal performances were amazing! Consistent across all casting. I loved the costumes and staging. We have seen other productions of Oliver and this was probably the best. Good job!

    Oliver is a mixed blessing

by Divadude on 2/25/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

A great set for a local production and a terrific performance by Bradley Greenwald do not entirely compensate for a somewhat listless production. But it's a classic show with a fabulous score, so if you have never seen it, it's worth a visit.

    Enjoyable performance

    by TSB1961 on 2/25/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Oliver is one of my favorite shows from my childhood, so when I saw it was playing at Pantages, I had to go. I was not disappointed - I loved seeing the very talented children in the play. From the costumes, the set, the actors & actresses were all top notch. A couple of scenes made me uncomfortable for the children in the audience (violence). Overall a great show and I have already told several friends about it. Can't wait to see more at Pantages.

    Oliver - what a delight.

by aschus on 2/25/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Saw Oliver at Pantages Feb 22. Pantages theater is a beautifully restored space and perfect for this show. Set is quite intricate and visually fascinating. Costumes suit the characters well. Voices are wonderful. Loved the contrast between Oliver and A. Dodger's voices. Greenwald was just magnificent as Fagin. And what a delight to see my friend Jim Ramlet in so many roles. He is especially good as Mr. Bumble. Lauren, who played Nancy has an amazing range and is a terrific actor. Loved her portrayal.

    Had a great time

    by Booth088 on 2/24/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

The show had its issues. Several mic problems throghout and the minimal orchestra was disappointing. It hurts the great school with such a small pit. Synhesizer just can't replace woodwinds and brass. A couple moments that would have been wonderful musically were spoiled by weak orchestration. The costume design was different. I feel it achieved its intended purpose and didn't detract from the show too terribly much. What made this show stand out was a couple incredible performances. While I found Oliver underwhelming, i got the impression that he was just having an off night. The hint there was when e cleared his throat during Wheee is Love. His voice seemed a bit reserved at times like he was ill or maybe hurting a bit. I did really enjoy his character arch, particularly in act 2. Bradley Greenwald was brilliant as Fagin. One of the few that comes close to my favorite Fagen, Rowan Atkinson. Finally, Alex Fisher as Dodger was the icing on the cake for me. He stole te show with Consider Yourself. The young man has unbelievable stage presence.

    Beyond Expectations

by AnkenyFamily on 2/24/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

We wanted to bring our boys to their first musical and this is definitely beyond our expectations. Fagin was AMAZING, couldn't have anyone better for the role. Oliver, with his beautiful voice, enchanted the audience. Very impressed with the details - costumes, lighting, set. It was a memorable performance, Bravo!

    Oliver! was Excellent

by MrParticular on 2/22/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

This play was excellent. I have seen performances on Broadway, and this performance was not far behind. The actors who played Fagin, Nancy and Oliver were outstanding. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

Very enjoyable production with great singing voices thanks to the Boy's Choir. The angelic face and voice of the boy playing Oliver was perfect casting. Fagin was believable and yet very vulnerable.

    Oliver was great

by TryItAgain on 2/22/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

Performance was very well done. Fun to see local children starring in the show. Their participation should be more widely published. Child actors were very talented. Minimalist scenery was creative, attractive, appropriate. Costumes were eye-catching. Singing was high quality. Times have changed since this show was written. It was startling to hear domestic abuse glorified in song.

Oliver! was a delight for the ears and eyes :)

by ArtAfficionado on 2/22/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

The set and costumes were fantastic! All of the performers were talented, but Bradley Greenwald stole the show as Fagin. What an amazing actor and gorgeous voice! Beautiful theater. A wonderful Valentine's Day treat - I highly recomment it.

    Fantastic!

by Anonymous on 2/18/15Pantages Theatre - Minneapolis

The show was really fantastic. The acting, the singing, the stage were all remarkable. The opening number felt a little bit weak but the remainder of the show really blew it out of the water. My husband, who doesn't really love broadway shows, but gets dragged to a lot of them anyway said, "I think it's my most favorite show I have seen. It was really fantastic."
