Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Basketball History
Ohio State first fielded a basketball team in 1898 and played its games through 1919 at an on-campus building known as the Armory. In 1912, the Buckeyes joined the Big Nine conference. Four years later, the league was rechristened to its current name as the Big Ten.
Over the years, Ohio State has been guided to success by several notable coaches, including Fred Taylor, who helmed the team between 1959 and 1976, and Jim O'Brien, whose tenure stretched from the late ’90s to the early ’00s. Future Basketball Hall of Famers John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas as well as 2010 Naismith College Player of the Year Evan Turner have also passed through the program. The Buckeyes' main competitors tend to be their fellow Big Ten members, although their biggest rival is the Michigan Wolverines.
The Columbus-based Buckeyes have earned 31 appearances in the NCAA March Madness tournament, making 10 advancements to the Final Four and winning the national championship in 1960. Meanwhile, Ohio State has played in the National Invitation Tournament 10 times, taking home titles in 1986 and 2008 and advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.

Ohio State Buckeyes at the Schottenstein Center
The Buckeyes play in Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center (often shortened to the Schottenstein Center). Opened in 1998, Schottenstein Center is the largest arena in the Big Ten, seating 19,500 for basketball. Appropriately, the school boasts a vocal, robust student fanbase that cheers on the team in a section known as the Buckeye NutHouse.
Tickets for the 2025-26 regular season can be purchased on Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Marketplace of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

My first Big Ten basketball game! Great game! The Buckeyes were awsome, good defense, great shooting. 15-0 at home! WOW!! Keep it up Buckeyes!!!!
This was my first visit to the Schot center.....Great Venue for almost anything..
The seats was great, the game was great, an Ohio State Victory what more can I say. I would buy these tickets again, i had easy access to concession stands and could see the whole floor.
The schott is a great arena to go to. The students show their spirit and try hard to make it loud for their team. The only thing I thought needed improved was the misic Hells bells from AC|DC over and over again got a little old. Had a great time. Go Bucks!
My expierence last was pretty good!! Seats were a little high, but that is what I chose.. Go Bucks!!
The entire procedure of buying a ticket via Ticketmaster was easy and convenient. The seats were fantastic and being THE Ohio State Buckeyes won, the game was also fantastic!
We went to this game for my dad's birthday and it was the best present he could have gotten. The unveiling of the banner for Coach Taylor had my dad in tears! I could not have asked for a better game!
Enjoyed the game. Getting in and out of the game was easy. The seats were great had a blast!
L-O-V-E-D the 60 Championship team and Fred Taylor banner at halftime! Current Bucks had a great game too!
It was great fun. We took three grandchildren, who were enthralled by the whole event,
I enjoy watching the Bux anytime. I would enjoy having access to the bottom bowl occasiionally though and replace some of the non-cheering attendees. The halftime recogntiion for '60 Natl Champ team and Fred Taylor's banner unveiled were outstanding. Nice to see the Bux team display some unselfishness with the extra pass, great ball movement and excellent shooting touch while the role models from '60s were watching; now doubt helped by staying out of foul trouble and keeping the key players on court most of the day. We have to work on execution at the free throw stripe though.
Great game for OSU fans. 1960 team recognition was inspiring.
just awesome. 1960 basketball team outstanding, game was great.
Had a great time! Loved seeing the Bucks live. Can't wait until I can go again!
The game was exciting and the Buckeyes played very well!
Went to the OSU mens basketball game saturday night against Wisconsin - first basketball game and it was an exciting time! And they won - go bucks!
Seats were good and the atmosphere was great everyoe in our party had a blast
Great play by the Buckeyes. Nice, solid defense to get another big win in conference play.
The game was awesome , Very competitive and the venue was great. The buckeyes came out with a victory which was what we came for just an excellent night in Columbus.
Great Game. Sat in section 301 row P. Not a good place to watch the game. Price too high for the view. It was also Upward basketball night. I felt that the parents need to be closer to their children. It is very hard to let a 6 year old go and not be able to see them for several minutes. However, it is a good program. P J Hill and Dallas Lauderdale were wonderful. I would think that something like that should be done at an earlier game time. Timing is everything.
