Ohio State Buckeyes Men's Basketball History
Ohio State first fielded a basketball team in 1898 and played its games through 1919 at an on-campus building known as the Armory. In 1912, the Buckeyes joined the Big Nine conference. Four years later, the league was rechristened to its current name as the Big Ten.
Over the years, Ohio State has been guided to success by several notable coaches, including Fred Taylor, who helmed the team between 1959 and 1976, and Jim O'Brien, whose tenure stretched from the late ’90s to the early ’00s. Future Basketball Hall of Famers John Havlicek and Jerry Lucas as well as 2010 Naismith College Player of the Year Evan Turner have also passed through the program. The Buckeyes' main competitors tend to be their fellow Big Ten members, although their biggest rival is the Michigan Wolverines.
The Columbus-based Buckeyes have earned 31 appearances in the NCAA March Madness tournament, making 10 advancements to the Final Four and winning the national championship in 1960. Meanwhile, Ohio State has played in the National Invitation Tournament 10 times, taking home titles in 1986 and 2008 and advancing to the quarterfinals in 2024.

Ohio State Buckeyes at the Schottenstein Center
The Buckeyes play in Value City Arena at the Jerome Schottenstein Center (often shortened to the Schottenstein Center). Opened in 1998, Schottenstein Center is the largest arena in the Big Ten, seating 19,500 for basketball. Appropriately, the school boasts a vocal, robust student fanbase that cheers on the team in a section known as the Buckeye NutHouse.

The game was a great experience. The atmophere was amazing, being surrounded by so many fellow fans. I was asked twice could they take my picture to put on "The Ohio State Buckeyes" True fan site. I felt like a true "Buckeye". This is something i would never forget....................Go Bucks.....................
The whole process went very well. Food could have been alittle cheaper. Overall, we had a great time!!
Nothing like watching Ohio State beat michigan!!! Value City Arena is beautiful. Every seat gives you an awesome view. Plan on attending many more events in the Arena!
The only thing that could have made this better would have been a win.
What a great game........both teams showed why they are at the top of the big ten standings.........Purdue was just a little better, but we will get them the next time!!!!!!
Frustration builds to excitement ends in devastating defeat. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.
My friend Brandon and I bought $10 "top six" tickets. The view from the second to last row was okay but not worth more than $10. At halftime, we saw an entire row of empty seats about fifteen rows below us. We asked the people behind those seats if anyone was sitting there and if they minded if we did. They said no one was sitting there and feel free to take the seats. A few minutes after we sat down, an usher from that section (319) asked for our tickets and rudely pointed at us and told us to move. He acted very seriously like a police officer. These seats we moved up to were still in the upper deck; it's not like we took Jim Tressel's seats. The usher said we had to move because "it was almost sold out," even though nobody had sat in the row for the entire first half. We politely moved, but the usher in section 319 failed to reciprocate our tact. We go because we're big fans and this usher acted like we we're trespassing. It is unfortunate that the University has employees who treat their fans like this. The people who do have the good seats show little emotion during the game and the student section is a joke. As long as the Ohio State basketball experience is like this, their games will be "almost sold out" for a long time.
Painful - literally. Just unbelievably painful. I think I'll get a root canal ( it is hard enjoying seeing your Buckeyes loose when you are in pain - dentist says I need a root canal - really ).
the game was great....the parking...or the exiting from parking was a nightmare.....20,000 fans and terrible exiting strategy...
It was a good game eventhough the did't pull away with a win!
I took my 5 year-old son to his first OSU basketball game and the seats were high up, but the experience was great.
COuld not beat the price of the event. Great JOB OSU for having a two for one ticket sale for such a big game!! The result was not what we hoped for but our group had a great time and had a relatively cheep night out thanks to BOGO!!
Boiler Up!!!! Even though our seats were in the upper bowl, we had a great view of the court. Being a Purdue fan lost in a sea of red was exciting..
The Arena is really nice. It was great to see a full house.
Enjoyed the game. I thought it was a great matchup between 2 of the top teams in the country for Men's College Basketball. The view of the court was great. Go Boilers!!!!!
We came all the way up from Georgia to visit family and this was out first OSU event. Of course we are Bulldog fans. But we wore our buckeye hates and had a great time. One thing could have put it over the top, a WIN!
Great game with two very solid Big Ten basketball team. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.
The seat was terrific and it is easy to get these tickets printed at home. I like the ease of it all and the price was only $9 above the listed price of the ticket vs. other vendors that charge a fortune.
For those who came out to brave the snowfall from the previous 2 days we were treated to an exciting exhibition of defense from the Buckeyes!!! Great job!!!
