About Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium

Columbus, Ohio, is home to one of the most legendary college football programs of all time, whose success is still going strong after 130 years. The Ohio State Buckeyes play out of Ohio Stadium, which opened in 1922 and currently seats 102,780. They are coached by Ryan Day, who, in his first year leading Ohio State in 2019, oversaw a 13-1 season and a College Football Playoff berth.

History of Ohio State Buckeyes Football

The Ohio State University first fielded a football team in 1890, and the team became a charter member of the Ohio Athletic Conference in 1902 before joining the Big Ten in 1912. The Buckeyes won their first national championship in 1942 under coach Paul Brown, and they've won seven more, most recently in 2014 under Urban Meyer. Six players have won seven Heisman Trophies for the Buckeyes, including Les Horvath in 1944, Vic Janowicz in 1950, Howard "Hopalong" Cassady in 1955, Eddie George in 1995, Troy Smith in 2006, and the only two-time recipient, Archie Griffin, in 1974 and 1975. Ohio State has won 40 conference titles, including three while with the OAC, as well as eight divisional titles. The Buckeyes have also won eight Rose Bowl games, most recently after the 2018 season against Washington.

While Ohio State has long-running rivalries against Illinois and Penn State, their rivalry against Michigan is one of the most heated feuds in all of sports, dating back to 1897. The Ohio/Michigan rivalry has always been intense, but it rose to another level between 1969 and 1978, as Michigan coach Bo Schembechler and Ohio State coach Woody Hayes engaged in "The Ten Year War" as both teams competed for Big Ten and national championships. In 2019, the Buckeyes went 12-0 behind the play of defensive end Chase Young, cornerback Jeff Okudah, and quarterback Justin Fields, before defeating Wisconsin 34-21 in the Big Ten Championship Game, and losing 29-23 to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff semifinals.

    Kenny Guiton, OSU's new quarterback

by BBMail on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Kenny Guiton is an amazing quaterback. He is very scrappy. He knows how to read a line, where his players are open, and has a great throwing arm. Coach Tressel would be an absolute idiot if he didn't recognize this talent and use it this season. Terrell Pryor sucked as usual. He had a lack luster performance. He still hasn't recovered from his injury from the fall. He limped off the field after the last series of plays he was in. He wore a long leg brace the rest of the game. Pryor is more suited to be a receiver. Tressel needs to recognize this and work on that transformation. Joe Bauserman also played a much better game than Pryor. If Tressel wants to leave Pryor as a quarterback, I would make him a third stringer.

    once a year experience

by BuckeyeTheGreat on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

This event is held each year and allows the fans to see the buckeyes play. The team is divided by color Scarlet or Grey. The Stadium is beautiful and well designed and the tickets are cheap children 6 and under are free. Its good for those who don't get to regular games and for kids to have fun watching and cheering the team. It was an overall enjoyable experience for Buckeye fans and the best part as you walk back to your car don't be surprised at seeing the team walking with you so don't be afraid to talk to them and high five or shake there hand and show your support.

    Spring Buckeye Bash

by stemenlin on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Overall I think the Buckeye Spring Game was well worth the trip. The weather held out, the band did a great job, and the dedication to "breast cancer" was a great thing. We tailgated, and then walked to the stadium, and thoroughly enjoyed the game. Thumbs up. Go Bucks!!!!!

    Spring Game Fun.

    by Paz4vida on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

OSU Srpring game was a fun & enjoyable afternoon. It was spent with my wife & 7 year-old son; the boy loves football, period. Although, the weather called for on-off rain the game was still enjoyable because if you got there early enough good seats were available. It was good to see the present & future talents of OSU football.

Spring Game at OSU was Great as usual.

by unclered on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

I've only missed 1 spring game in the last 6 years. The rain did nothing to sour my experience. We sat in b deck box seats and did not get wet. Good to see so many players get to play. The Shoe is my favorite place to be.

    OSU Spring Game

by osufreshmanmom on 4/25/10Ohio Stadium - Columbus

It was a wonderful event that is a tradition at OSU. In addition to being very affordable, $5 per ticket, it was a great fundraiser for breast cancer research. Very easy to get tickets... and even correct a mistake I made in ordering was seamless. Thanks!

    The Big Game was amazing

by BuckeyeBecca on 11/22/09Ohio Stadium - Columbus

I thought everything was great. (Especially considering we won!) But the michigan fans were for the most part nice. The only negative thing I have to say is the parking was really expensive and there wasn't that much information about it on the website. I think OSU does a much better job communicating information about parking and it is only $10. Not between $60 and $30.

    My first Buckeyes Game!!

by MandyCrusader on 11/15/09Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Everything's coming up roses!!! The game was awesome, the stadium staff was very helpful in helping us finding our seats!! The people around us were very nice, it was a great atmosphere for such a big game!!! One of my favorite parts was after halftime, the drum and percussion corps and the trumpet section of the best damn band in the land came around and played from the C Deck down to us on the B Deck!! I will definitely try to go to another game next season if I'm still living in the area!! Go Bucks!!

We always enjoy The Ohio State University games. This was the first time that we have used Ticketmaster, and we elected to get our tickets at Will Call. Since we have noticed the Will Call signs at the stadium, we assumed that we would pick up the tickets there. However, we were told that only visiting team fans and guests of OSU team members could get their tickets there. Our tickets were to be picked up at the Schottenstein Center. Nevertheless, Guest Services was able to print tickets for us since we had purchase confirmation and ID. We were not the only fans to be fooled by the signs. Had we known where to get the tickets, we could have parked closer to the Schottenstein Center instead of in the opposite direction. Perhaps this information could be put on the purchase summary to avoid future difficulties for fans and workers alike. Other than this problem, we felt that Ticketmaster was very convenient and will use it again. We will also recommend it to others.

    All around bad deal.

    by Sammyboy231 on 11/2/09Ohio Stadium - Columbus

from start to finish this was a bust. We paid face and I saw scalpers selling good seats for $10. No parking, say again NO parking. When I did get a spot for $10, got towed. Never will repeat that mistake twice.
