About Ohio State Buckeyes at Ohio Stadium

Columbus, Ohio, is home to one of the most legendary college football programs of all time, whose success is still going strong after 130 years. The Ohio State Buckeyes play out of Ohio Stadium, which opened in 1922 and currently seats 102,780. They are coached by Ryan Day, who, in his first year leading Ohio State in 2019, oversaw a 13-1 season and a College Football Playoff berth.

History of Ohio State Buckeyes Football

The Ohio State University first fielded a football team in 1890, and the team became a charter member of the Ohio Athletic Conference in 1902 before joining the Big Ten in 1912. The Buckeyes won their first national championship in 1942 under coach Paul Brown, and they've won seven more, most recently in 2014 under Urban Meyer. Six players have won seven Heisman Trophies for the Buckeyes, including Les Horvath in 1944, Vic Janowicz in 1950, Howard "Hopalong" Cassady in 1955, Eddie George in 1995, Troy Smith in 2006, and the only two-time recipient, Archie Griffin, in 1974 and 1975. Ohio State has won 40 conference titles, including three while with the OAC, as well as eight divisional titles. The Buckeyes have also won eight Rose Bowl games, most recently after the 2018 season against Washington.

While Ohio State has long-running rivalries against Illinois and Penn State, their rivalry against Michigan is one of the most heated feuds in all of sports, dating back to 1897. The Ohio/Michigan rivalry has always been intense, but it rose to another level between 1969 and 1978, as Michigan coach Bo Schembechler and Ohio State coach Woody Hayes engaged in "The Ten Year War" as both teams competed for Big Ten and national championships. In 2019, the Buckeyes went 12-0 behind the play of defensive end Chase Young, cornerback Jeff Okudah, and quarterback Justin Fields, before defeating Wisconsin 34-21 in the Big Ten Championship Game, and losing 29-23 to Clemson in the Fiesta Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff semifinals.

    Awesome Buckeyes and Fans

by Mandy on 11/15/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Nothing better than a live game in the stadium for a Buckeye fan. From the minute the band marches on to the field and the last football thrown there no excitement like it. OH-IO!!!

    Best Seats Ever

    by E. L. K. on 10/9/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

I honestly don't know how this happened, I thought I was securing tickets on C Deck, couldn't find two side by side so I had to pick the second seat right behind the first. When we arrived at the stadium and went to C Deck, I looked at the ticket and it said A Deck.....completely confused, we went to A Deck fully expecting to be told there was a mistake, but that did not happen....Consequently, however I ended up with A Deck tickets, they were fabulous!

    Great!

by Bobby D. on 10/4/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Everything went well and the ushers were very friendly. I had never done digital tickets before and I was a little anxious about it but everything went quickly and smoothly. Best of all, the Buckeyes won the game and my brother and me had a great time. Go Bucks!

    Good amenities. Terrible seats.

by P. Raymond on 10/4/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

The concessions and sales booths were great. Efficient and friendly. Entry was a breeze. The problem is the seating. It is so cramped. And we aren’t huge people. We left at halftime because it was so uncomfortable. A middle seat on a flight has more room. I’ve gone to many OSU games and it just gets tighter and tighter. Remove one seat per bench and give people what they paid for. Honestly I should get half my ticket price back because I only had half my seat.

    The game itself was great!

by Buckeye Granny on 9/28/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Ticketmaster miss-represented our seat view in their picture. When we looked at the pictures before purchasing there was NOT two poles directly in front of us. It was extremely disappointing.

    Don’t trust B-deck View Photos

by Spuzzz on 9/28/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

There are some very nice seats in b-deck especially in rows 1-5. We knew there was some risk when choosing these seats because they were in row 18. But we trusted ticketmasters photo of the view from those seats. It showed completely, 100% unobstructed by pillars. Couldn’t be further from truth. Pillars blocked 50% of the field and a bulky 1950s style scoreboard blocked another 20%. Left game at halftime. Will never trust Ticketmaster view photos again.

    Pretty annoyed.

by Sarosh on 9/27/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

For the most part it was ok. I went with my wife and my parent n laws. We sat by the student section so as far as restrooms and food the options were limited and sort of sucked. My father n law is wheel chair bound for the most part so it can be difficult to find tickets to events like this. It was more frustrating because so many of the people in the Accessible section didn’t seem to have any problems at all just bought tickets there. It would be great if there is a way to verify the needs to help with the proper people being able to get tickets!

    Horrible

by Unhappy on 9/27/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Ticketmaster showed a picture of no obstructions and you could see the whole field. I could see maybe 15% of field while looking around multiple pillars.

    Obstructed view from our seats

by Teri on 9/26/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

Our seats were directly in back of a camera operator. The seats should not be sold as we could only see the game when enough people around us left that we could move. Very disappointing since this was our first game.

    Osu

by Mic on 9/24/22Ohio Stadium - Columbus

They need upgrade their TV's in B section they look like the kind that they would roll in on a cart when you are in elementary school. Bigger/newer TV's and scoreboard. There was also no airflow in that section either, just a cement box with 2 pillars blocking your view
